I made a completely subjective list of "starter" drama to watch

I followed a simple rule to chose them: their genre do not overlap with others "starter" drama, their plot is kinda simple to follow, their theme is rather "pure" (not a mix of many different thing), their rhythm is entertaining, they do not have many seasons / eps

They are noted with an 🎀 at their right on the list

I was just thinking that most people new to kdrama would want something light, as well as not have a first impression of 'oh god, all kdramas are so emotionally intense/heavy'

but I see why you'd include Thirty Nine in there

and if a lot of people consider 25/21's ending to be sad, then Thirty Nine would be a bit much for them

this is just me n my love for romcoms showing, but they're also some genuinely good dramas

I feel like Business Proposal does a better job at introducing pure romcom to starting ppl (better than Our Beloved Summer which is a bit more... slow)

and it has a healing element as well

also Homecha feels more like a "mature" romcom and Cloy does a better job at introducing that to people (faster paced, more teen-friendly also and has North-Korean element which makes it extra interesting)

Homecha feels very "adult-oriented" imho, it's slow and has very mature theme

but maybe that's exactly the reason why it should be added there 🤨

I think an easy way to find a starter drama would be:
In a specific given genre, what's the EASIEST one to follow, the clearer one in terms of theme, the more entertaining one and the better rhythmed one

considering most drama have several genre, we can easily split each "major" genre in multiple ones

does Homecha overlap with any other on this list?

if not, is it unique enough to be considered as having its own genre (like "healing / countryside / romance")

The main idea is to find Kdrama that are the most entertaining / easiest to follow in their own niche / genre. Adding multiple dramas that are in the exact same genre / niche should be avoided. Not having too many episodes or seasons is also a good thing (so that starting people don't have to go over 20 hours+ of watching before getting an idea).

• Extracurricular - (very well rhythmed, heavy society critic with a high-school / teen setup which makes it easier to dive in)
• Squid Game - (a staple of kdramas)
• Extraordinary Attorney Woo - (one of the best law oriented romcoms, wholesome and easy to follow, very well rhythmed)

• The Silent Sea - (interesting thriller, high budgets SFX, space setup, all-in-all a very unique and well-made drama that is easy to follow)

• Strangers from Hell - (one of the most horrible mood and ambient during the entire show)
• All of us are Dead - (very easy to follow zombie-themed show with relatable high-school characters, relatively good rhythm)

I highly disagree with Goblin and Tale of the Nine-tailed, haven't watched Doom at your Service
Sound of Magic is pretty good and pretty unique, so that might be something to add, also it has the unique element of musical comedy to it as well

now regarding how it works to review and rate dramas:
each curator has a column to its name, it is the only thing he can modify in the document (the rest of the document will be protected and nobody but the moderators will be able to modify it)
the rating of a drama will be the average of the rating of all curators
seems 1️⃣ correct right? or 2️⃣ no?

should the list include the release date of the drama?
1️⃣ yes, 2️⃣ no

how should we treat "seasons"?
1️⃣ each season has one entry
2️⃣ a drama is judged as a whole (one entry per drama, regardless of how many seasons)
3️⃣ if the drama needs all the seasons to have a real "end", then we group it up, if not we split it (basically, are the stories from S1 and S2 different, like Strangers, or are they directly related in the sense that without them, the story wouldn't be complete, such as Love Alarm and Vagabond)
