Honestly, if they are smart, they will renew the contracts. They are in a very good position to negotiate, they can basically set their conditions and if YG is smart, they will give the girls what they want, cause there is still hella money to be made with Blackpink

Blackpink is the main YG source of income so I doubt they would not try their best to renew the contracts. Winner and Ikon are also at the end of the contract and bigbang has basically left YG. They could debut new groups but that would take at least 2 years before they go on tours and really start making big income.

But based on last concert I feel the girls are really enjoying doing the tours so I give it 90% chance that they renew in some way. Especially if they can get some more control over the release schedule.

the problem with Kpop is, the extension contract would be much better for established artists compared to the 1st one, therefore the agency would take a smaller cut, which means they might be more motivated to invest on the idols on their first 7-year contracts

So even if they extended the contract, there is still a chance for YG to BigBang them. It's also a risk they need to consider when negotiating the contract, you might get the best contract in terms of how money are split but for the same reason you would not get prioritized. Like an agency might keep the artists in the basement just for the sake of reputation.
