Not many shows are brave enough to be original anymore. They are even too lazy to steal plots from other countries nowadays. They recycle the same stuff they always have. Hence I just float towards kdramas and jdramas more than western stuff for the most part now.

It sounds really good actually. It reminds me of an rpg anime game I used to love called Fatal Frame. The story gets kinda dark but it's basically about a girl trapped in a world in between life and death and with each level you go through you have to break a soul piece to uncover more of what happened.

I was really young when it came out and liked it cause it felt like I shouldn't be watching it. But as I got older I viewed it different and disliked it. Bella was a moody moanbag and annoying. Edward was a creepy stalker tbh. Jacob was okay. The Renesmee thing got weird AF though. It felt like I was watching a weird fanfiction and also it seemed like the catalyst for crappy teen drama love triangles. I also disliked how the author tried to milk it years later by writing the book from Edward's perspective then making a gender swapped version.

Also the Twilight fandom were just too overwhelming and again I feel like it set off something for future toxic fandom ship wars.

They are apparently remaking it. I won't be watching 😅

You know a lot of people are really critical of the American version of The Grudge but I actually thought it did some things better than Ju On.

But here's the thing. Asian horror is often praised for having subtle nuances that make it scary and US is known for gore and cheesy jumpscares. But Ju On was the one that used the gore and The Grudge was the one that used the subtle nuances. I thought that was interesting. I guess Ju On was like a made for tv movie too.
