Amongst us wander many convicts, felons, and criminals: free from the jaws of justice. Locked away from society, rest many innocent citizens: framed, wronged, and jailed. Unfortunately, the government and law created with intentions to prevent crime only cultivated a more sinister, invisible, and unscrupulous system - the public juries of courts. Hidden under a constitutional facade, juries allow irresponsible citizens to engage in weak and often rushed arguments to finalize the fate of a person they couldn’t care less about. As long as their Ubers arrive in a timely fashion and they win a round of UNO, why would anyone look past their sheltered life? Correct, people will not! By permitting denizens to impact the justice system through juries, the government only allowed court officials to procrastinate by brushing the weight of someone’s life and public backlash off their backs onto the citizens. Even if the court cares, corruption-riddled officials often veil evidence from unsuspecting juries and segregate in their creation (knowing well that recent statistics prove majority juries to reach harsher verdicts than a mixed one). Therefore, juries should be rightfully eradicated due to their vulnerability to manipulation, the precious time they waste, and their racially-segregated composition.
