i just looked it up. Sowon is 25. Gfriend debuted in 2015. That puts her at 20 on debut. looked up that she has 5 years of training, meaning she's been 100% dedicating her life to kpop since she was 15. This is just another symptom of the kpop industry not developing their idols as people. You're in it from so young and do nothing else that you basically have no worldly context. Does she know that Nazis are bad, yes. Has she taken a single world history class to have any details outside of "nazis are bad?" No. Did she mean anything by it? Probably not. Does she have the context to see just how sensitive that photo would have been? Probably not.
She should apologize, Source/BH should put out a comment saying they will do a better job of educating their idols and making them more well-rounded people, and people should move on. I hope this doesn't turn into something that ruins her or gfriend's image.

not necessarily. college entrance exams don't go into cultural sensitivity. If she did that pose with Cambodian soldier statue, she wouldn't have gotten hate, even though Pol Pot was at that level. If she did that with Ottoman Empire WWI, she wouldn't have gotten hate, even though Ottoman Turks committed genocide against Armenians, Kurds, etc. Nazis are unique, and I honestly don't believe that she comprehends that uniqueness.

This isn't an excuse in any way. She should 100% be in a position, as should everyone else, to understand its significance. I just don't think she was ever put in that position. I don't think many idols are. It's a commentary on the idol industry more than it is me trying to excuse her.
