#Different ways to get your drugs in Streets Of Rogue

I think this change will be much more intimidating for drug dealers in general, as well as offering/cutting different approaches to raid these "drug" places.
Now, about the drug delivery. I will be using two references from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul TV shows, because they are most logical for me. Possibilities for what could be in the actual game are pointless, but that's beside the point.

  1. After you pay the dealer, he will signal his business colleagues to deliver the drug by the car. They will drive up near the player and you have the ability to take drugs you ordered. After you do so, they drive off and the dealer will tell you to leave. If you keep staying near, he will get annoyed>hostile, each phase taking 15 seconds.
This variant would work best if the dealer is outside, otherwise it wouldn't make much sense for them to just not keep the drugs somewhere inside or near the building.
  2. The delivery men/man will now drop off the drug in some quiet, secluded place near the building. For example, he will slide everything you ordered down the drainage pipe. While he does so, the dealer will tell you where to pick your product up.
About the possibilities this can bring.
You can have cops called somewhere around the area, to them see how a suspicious man just dropped off illegal substances at a suspicious spot, so they will obviously try to arrest/kill him.
You can set up the same cops or other people to start a shootout once the delivery men arrive, to have them more clustered, you can use items that benefit from enemies being close, like bombs, and etc.
The way it's in the first Streets Of Rogue should be an option, where the dealer himself has product he sells, but the level generation should pick between these options to give players more unique experience.

This is one of those things that would be really cool, buuut... it would make buying things from drug dealers a real pain.

#

I like the idea, I just think that if it was a hassle to buy drugs, they'd have to either be powerful enough to justify it, or cheap enough that it was worth the extra time and risk to do so

I mean, they are not winning you the entire mission, but you can still get massive results from each syringe

Well, yeah, but to put it in perspective, if your choice is "find syringes in trash" or "pay 20 dollars and go through a process that might get you shot at by cops to get syringe" I feel like the average player won't really see the benefit

#

especially if item crafting allows people to make their own status items

#

...Maybe it would make sense if it was based on a dollar amount?

#

i.e. if you spend over a certain amount at the dealer, they tell you they can't give it to you right now and that you need to pick it up later?

#

Either that, or make it so that drug dealers only sell more potent stuff (rage poison, cyanide, etc)

#

so that the reward you get from risking getting shot at or starting a firefight is some really powerful stuff and not like, a bag of sugar and a Weak syringe that you could have found in the garbage somewhere

Like, if there is no point to trying a drug deal when you can find the syringes in trash, why bother?

#

I feel like the easy way to fix that is to make certain syringes either really hard to craft or really rare

#

so that buying them from Dealers becomes reasonable

#

I imagine that there will be a crafting recipe for "random syringe" but those tables could easily be weighted or even just outright exclude certain options

#

like, for example, making invis syringes completely impossible to craft randomly, and you either have to find certain ingredients to make them, or buy them

#

Actually...

#

Come to think of it, that could be something the drug dealer has

#

Chemicals that you can use to make drugs that you can't really get any other way, or are annoying to get in other ways

#

so you get to choose between trying to grow a farm with 8 different types of plant and building a whole dang lab (and then trying to keep the police from raiding it) or you just buy your chems from a dealer and brew the stuff in your basement without an issue

I think certain characters or traits should be allowed to make their own drugs

#

with a lab or something

#

just how bartenders can make their own coctails

For common drugs like slow, confusion, and speed, they'll have it on them and you can buy them directly and immediately.
But for the stronger ones like regeneration, invincibility, and invisibility, those are the ones you'll have to pick up.

#

And perhaps some of them could be extra-strength as a tradeoff for possibly being shot at.

#

actually wait a minute that's a great idea

#

they sell more potent versions of regular drugs in exchange for the risk of getting shot

#

could be longer-lasting or just a more intense bonus (bigger speed boost, bigger damage penalty for Weak, etc)
