We grab beer and sometimes sandwiches out of trash bins, I don't think the need for sanitary food is available
So, you're saying we should steal food and stock it up in refrigerators since we'll have the ability to have houses, or buying the overpriced food from the movie vendors in downtown, so it's fresh and heals a little bit more?
I get the point here. If (due to change in game mechanics or by mutator) food becomes more important, this would be good. So you find that food in the trash, it would have the lowest rating, making it not very good for you (weak heal). If you bought the same food from the store, or made it yourself, it would be fresh and have top value. If you did not have a portable fridge then it would start to go bad over time.
I see this being a good idea, if implemented right. Maybe you have a chance of a negative effect from eating rotten foods.
This idea would be good for those that like the survival type games to have a bit of a challange at first.

true. But a mutator could be added like "Need to Eat" requiring you to get a good part of your health from food instead, possibly removing doctors. Or possibly 50% of your health is governed by food, the other half is what ever. Just saying that this is a good idea if implemented right.
Just make this a character, possibly called The Glutton
could do that. I mean, for a survivalist, this might be a good fit. I still think it is a valid idea

I don't know how I feel about this.. on one hand making food be able to spoil gives more depth and mechanical complexity, on the other hand, it's an annoying system to deal with. I never liked survival games that has food rot systems lol
it's neat to be considered for sure, just that realism isn't always fun is all
maybe if it was an optional mutator then I'd fully support it and never play with it

I don't play SoR for tough gaming challenges, that's for sure lol

I agree here that it should not be a standard game feature that cannot be changed. But I would like to see it as a mutator to turn on/off that feature.
i dislike this idea. i get where you are coming from. it's more of a survival type of thing. i wouldn't be surprised if this game had a Survival tag on steam, but probably more of a "don't die from enemies" than "don't starve". I think it'd add a lot of fun scenarios and hours to the game, so it'd be a cool mod or mutator like inlanoche suggested.
But for the default core game, I disagree. Good idea though.
