really difficult class, cant see past like 5 tiles, cant teleport, low damage, cant drive, like a 0.5 second delay between input and your character actually doing something, low health, low speed, health goes down very slowly, needs to buy VERY VERY expensive medication to not have health go down, but the medication only helps for a bit. does start with a decent amount of money though because of idk being old, and gets small amounts of money now and then due to pension

hard basalt
#

can only drive a weak mobility scoter.

Did you just like your own suggestion?

Tough to say
It's gonna be the most challenged class that need lots of work to finish the game with. At least, the class should have some buff or positive traits from npc or surround environment?

steel stump
#

Idk, challenge classes are a thing, think of wes from don't starve

#

Tho, one upside they could get

#

Maybe they have a "caregiver"

#

Maybe called through something like the walkie-talkie

bold dove
#

this sounds like shit gameplay

#

imagine thinking lag in your inputs is a good mechanic

merry ridge
#

This is aids

#

I've actually contracted tuberculosis from this

cunning pollen
#

I like it. Don't like it, don't play it!

noble magnet
#

But then you have to do the big quest for every character, including this one. and this is just straight up not very fun. even characters I don't like are fun. this is not.

visual ivy
#

we alredy have comedian

open violet
open violet
#

make it so it lags more and more depending on the time since your last medication

#

every minute = 0.2s delay

bold dove
#

or, ya know, the character doesnt need lag?

stiff viper
bold dove
#

challenge characters are fine, but making it so you cant react is bad?

open violet
bold dove
#

you cant dodge?

#

or attack?

open violet
#

bro just take your medication

#

simple

bold dove
#

its expensive?

open violet
#

you can attack, you spawn with a walking frame

open violet
bold dove
#

so whats the point of this character?

open violet
#

challenge

bold dove
#

you can make a custom challenge character?

#

and just use a laggy controller

open violet
#

yeah but

#

no

bold dove
#

i dont want to play a five hour run to do the big quest

#

this doenst mesh well with the gameplay of the game

errant zealot
#

i saw "old man" and immediately thought of 106

bold dove
#

you die when something uses a gun, you really couldnt do anything

errant zealot
#

but this does not sound like the best idea

#

now, playing as radical larry, that I think would be more interesting

visual ivy
#

People will suggest the worst balanced ideas know to man and put the "challenge" tag on them cus it means they dont have to worry about design

Inmediatally destroyed

bold dove
#

like im fine with challenge characters but at least try to make them fun

neat bluff
#

Lets go new investment banker but worse 💯

bold dove
#

You not even fast

neat bluff
#

ok?

cunning pollen
#

Fast characters = good game design

neat bluff
#

Is that not the point of a challange? It's supposed to be hard ._.

cunning pollen
#

Slow characters != bad game design

#

It is known

bold dove
cunning pollen
#

😎

#

Gotcha

#

I've read a few books on it, designed some board and card games, written a few SOR mods. So no, not one bit.

neat bluff
#

-_-

bold dove
#

I dont wanna play a slow character with 20 health and input lag

neat bluff
#

Then don't ._.

cunning pollen
#

I think they'll at least be less mandatory than in the first game

neat bluff
#

ye

neat bluff
noble magnet
#

You're forced to play the character if you want to do every big quest.

noble magnet
#

Even if they'll be less mandatory if you want to do them, you have to play this character.

#

The character has very little upside with very large downside, which mitigates the fun part of a challenge.

neat bluff
#

I mean isn't that what a challange is tho-

noble magnet
#

Most of the game will be you just walking

#

You can't drive

#

Walking to get medicine, walking to do your quests.
No faster alternative.

visual ivy
visual ivy
#

boom

noble magnet
#

There's a difference between "absurd difficulty" and "fun challenge"

visual ivy
#

both can be good this is not

#

i have a friend who is fan of both extremely fast games and tactical games

noble magnet
#

By the time you ever get anywhere you need to get your Medicine again:

visual ivy
#

this is just laaaaaaaameeeeeee

#

too many uninteresting downsides that just make the gameplay more dull

#

like we dont know how teleporting its going to work but straight up disabling it?

#

oh and the VERY VERY expensive medication to survive

noble magnet
#

I'm fine with no teleporting actually

#

It's really that you can't drive at all

visual ivy
#

it does not mix with being basically taken away from any movement

#

i just really dislike when people make bad game design in the name of challenge

noble magnet
#

How would you even play?

You're too weak to engage in combat yet simultaneously too slow to effectively sneak through missions.

visual ivy
#

reminds me of that other suggestion that was a mutator that made so every 1 minute a very annoying filter would be put on the screen making it harder to see

noble magnet
#

The only way to actually do well is to hire other people, which works for the character. But you have no bonus to hiring others and no real benefits besides "money"

visual ivy
#

you also need the limited money you have to get meds

#

and relying on followers is itself pretty much investing on luck

neat bluff
#

You guys know this is probably a joke right?

noble magnet
#

Joke characters can be good too

#

So I don’t really see how it being a joke changes anything

open violet
#

with like 25 ammo or smthn

noble magnet
#

That's not even fun.

#

It makes no sense in the context of the character.

#

and it's stupid.

#

Also it doesn't solve the problem that you can't actually fight people.

cunning pollen
#

The version I like has the "pathetic" trait, where anyone Neutral or better will defend you in combat. Could be easy, but I bet it's not hard to screw it up by getting overconfident

noble magnet
#

I mean that's a little better. but not by much.

bold dove
#

It's not even funny how bad it is, it's just sad
