Not sure I agree because don't the forms include commentary?
Or is there a way to turn off comments in the Forum so people aren't spamming on somebody's post?
Honestly, I don't know atm. We have test forums in the admin section. I could try it there later or over the weekend.
@wintry crag might be able to answer it instantly.
Comes down to the roles system I guess.
And I agree that only the owner should be able to comment, otherwise it's not desired and forums wouldn't work.
Forum channels have separate permissions for creating posts and sending messages in posts, so it seems hypothetically possible, but I'm not sure if that setup would still allow the OP to comment on their own post. I'll spin up a quick test right now to confirm.
Update: We can indeed set up a forum channel where anyone can create posts but cannot comment. It feels a little awkward since the OP can't even comment on their own post, but I've started an internal discussion to explore this a bit more.
maybe have a soecific channel for commands to amend your post via manny
OP can still edit the original post though?
I suggested that but apparently Forums have no API endpoints yet. So Manny can't do that.
In the mean time, it’s worth reminding everyone that Discord’s search is very useful for the job board. Ctrl + F while viewing a channel will search just that channel, and you can use keywords like blueprint, artist, remote, etc. to narrow your results.
you can also specify in: channel-name-no-# in the search box on mobile or pc
Indeed! You can also specify date ranges with before: and after: prefixes.
ooh!
Lots of handy shortcuts honestly.
ctrl-f doesn't work on mobile even if you have a keyboard, sadly
I think when the new site goes up I’ll write a blog post about Discord search. It’s pretty powerful.
Oh interesting. I wonder if there’s an alternative shortcut?
Hm I guess not.
my on-screen keyboard
i think separating the job board permanent / contract jobs channels into individual professions like blueprints, graphics, c++ etc. would make finding jobs a lot easier
I wonder if the Job Board would work as a forum with tags
good idea, sadly i havent got to try the new forum stuff myself yet
at least it would allow for separate discussions for each job offer
and i guess it will need some clear rules for what kind of comments are allowed in the job boards 🤷♂️
I believe it would help to both identify job offers for each role, and to avoid job duplication (as if the contractor is still hiring, they can just bump the thread instead of creating another one)
Forums sound exactly like what this was defined for
could also help to give discussion on the server for more specific details
I've got no horse in this race, but I agree - I think this would be a good use of the forums
