Using Geometry nodes, to create a RGB packed image to control "pivot" offset for transformation - all the cubes in the scene are same mesh.

  • Modified Snake rig with animations
  • WPO WS Noise for Flaps
  • FlipBook for eyes (Finally took some time to learn how to setup UV grid as a "masking tool")
  • Based on a concept I did, mixing Pug and Snail

Made these two Material Functions, one for stylized UV coordinate based Gradient breakup and one for UV based Mask (essentially using UV_2 one of the channels for masking)

These look really nice, good job ๐Ÿ™‚
Could we kindly know what kind of course / tutorials you are following for these?
Thank you in advance and keep it up!

Sure, I don't really follow anything specific but my current approach is this:

  • overview learning (I follow some of the tech art guys like tharlevfx, Ben cloward and tech art aid) this gives me an idea what's possible (I generally stay in the Material area as I always want to keep an option for switching to Godot, so my skillset is transferable) if I can't find a Dev here to Collab with

  • then I have learning for optimisation/ problems (this is where I go and try to fix things that take usually long time to do or add unnecessary complexity to the project), like materials for the previous project took ages to do (4-8 hours per texture) so the goal now is to fix that part and find a faster process.

  • and then the third one is usually going on Pinterest or artstation (I usually either have large saved collections or I just hunt for interesting designs/ideas) and this is where I try to grab concept ideas and mix them with the "tech art knowledge I have" (at this point I usually know what's easy to do or I go back and research areas)

  • and then at the end I usually sketch my own concepts and try to make sure everything is as modular as possible and I can reuse tech I make for the whole project (after that it's just prototyping and improving the process)

When I'm back from holiday if you see me in the VCs I can show you or tell you more if you are interested (but in short it's just layering ideas/knowledge, kinda like cooking I guess ๐Ÿ˜…)
