i mean its better than just the cpu, and pretty much all my friends have a laptop or they bring their own desktop
not everyone can
also is there any reason other than price to go with an 8tb HDD over a 16TB HDD
or does windows not support larger than 8? i heard there was a weird hard limit
at least for win10
so a 16tb drive will work just as much as my current 4tb?
i know SSD is more effective/faster but again storage space x price is more the focus of the backup
its function for like 95% of its life is movies and media storage
also would the current cpu fan on my Media rig (simple fan and heatsink from the same time) be sufficient to cool the i5 12600?
is this a possibility? its the same price as the Noctua NH-U12S
this is new
yeah just curious since the price is actually cheaper (when the u12s isnt on sale like it currently is
yeah i mean the current sound level isnt bad
dont i still technically need thermal paste or is that more for if im wanting to contonously set the cpu on fire with work?
current components im looking to put into the media desktop:
im guessing the u12s is a bit overkill for that?
GTAV and RDR2 being the most graphically powerful games, and space engineers being the most CPU heavy
i mean my last GPU was an MX250, so anything that makes the game look better than that
The NVIDIA® GeForce® MX250 supercharges your laptop for work and play. Now, you can expect up to 3.5X faster performance over integrated graphics for photo and video-editing applications, as well as faster, smoother gaming. It also works seamlessly with NVIDIA Optimus® technology to give you the perfect balance between long battery life and perf...
overall im trying not to spend over like $600 on the core for this
yeah its pretty much the best gpu i have
*had
id have to power limit this to keep the 450w PSU in the current computer wouldnt i?
my budget is at or just above $600 for this and i wanna keep the current PSU which is 450w
f type cpu's dont have igpu right and require a gpu to use as a computer?
but a 4tb SSD (current drive is 4tb and dont wanna go any lower) would bust my budget
regularly downloads multiple gb files weekly
🏴☠️
lol no
its all 60's kids shows
stuff you would record on VHS
too low?
i mean i could get something with more power, or like you said go with a bit lower toned cpu
gpu is very much on the fence of even getting (dont know what it would really power atm cause nothing in my monitor list is over 720p
or you could get a VHS recorder
i have multiple and then rip from the VHS to my computer
is that media pcs purpose to stand next to your other new computer?
basically
its what it currently does to this computer im on
because my wildly messed up brain needs something audio visual going on in the background to focus on the gaming
if it's really just an media player i would get an raspberry or smth like that
with xbmc or kodi or whatever the heck they name it now
i also use it for research when im gaming, cause even today a lot of games have seizures when you tab out of them
doing some your own ai for help media playback
thats windows, not the games, fault
and in the event something catastophic happens to my main desktop i have a backup (it has happened before)
oh i mean hardware, used to have MB's and HDD's fry out the wazoo. and like 4 months ago my gaming laptop MB went and fried itself out of the blue
luckily i had a backup computer that i can use now so im not out a working platform for fun and games for MONTHS while i save up for a rig
yep
its always good to have a backup computer
especially if you dont always have the cash on hand to just go out and buy a replacement
given i live on disability payments and comission
disability keeps a roof over my head and food in my belly, comission pays for my toys
those are sadly hard to find
well got the wattage under the psu limit:
i think the whole system is a waste of money, specially when you are on tight budget
weirdly windowed fullscreen usually ends up looking weird, wont let me enlarge it any and just hovers in the middle half of the screen like the resolution doesnt line up (but does in the game settings)
GTAV and fallout are the worst of them
sins of a solar empire also does this but then the game engine was built in like 2006
also as for "not having the funds" i can usually get funds when i make a sale, sadly it can be months between sales
but yeah the media desktop is a backup and research computer, as well as the ADHD feeder playing music or such i can pause with ease without having to mange multiple tabs
the u12s is actually currently on sale for 8% off (normally $59)
but yeah for simplicity maybe getting 2 of the same would be worth it
idk how you break a cooler but hey a backup thats actually used is money saved
is 424w of 450w cutting to close or is the 425w max possible/rated power usage?
i don't even know how the come up with 424W...
well theres no HDD
happened to me last + this week
tried to save money by grabbing my continues discount from JB
and now they offer 65% off
the main rig is already gonna have a U12S anyways
so puting the same model in the media desktop means if one miraculously failes theres spare parts
well yea, guess by now you know most of the engine stuff from memory 😄
ripping something out of the spare desktop is favorable than waiting months for cash for new parts
and the U12S is $5 more than the D9L
i've never came across a broken cooler....
only thing that might break is a fan on it, which you can replace for <$20
ye
i mean idk know what i currently have in there but the ceiling fan is louder than the desktop
granted the ceiling fan is from like '85
same my free speakers are vastly better than the weird ones i got from a friend as a gift
some Dell OEM speakers from like before 2007
im buying another pair for the big computer cause they are cheap but actually have good sound and volume control, and i cant detect any hum on them
yeah tbh i have spent most of my life with sound off for like everything that even mid level sound is pretty good for me
yeah
dad has one of those then spends 90% of his time reading emails on his desktop
im pretty sure his set is older than me
oh i know
dad still has an original vinyl 3 speed that plus into a set of speakers from the 80's
these things are the size of a small table yet run entire on power from speaker wires
and a cassette player
i recently had to replace his vinyl player when his diamond needle broke and no one makes that model anymore
i mean magnettic ones you put in your car stereo
HOW
yeah those
i mean i still use floppy drives for physical keys
cause like no one really has readers for them
you know the physical login keys
as for monitors... i noticed a few years ago curved ones were like all the rage, is there a reason they seem to have disappeared?
whats the difference between Q and O LED
like gameplay/visual wise
i need to get a proper monitor set, my best monitor atm is a 27 inch 720p 75hz (maybe khz?) security monitor
the laptop has 1080p but cant exactly use that with a desktop
is it reasonable i could find a PSU for the media desktop for under $100 that has 500w?
have you even looked at prices?
they varry from like $50 to $300
they start at $20 here
i'm in europe
as "media center" i would get an Lenovo ThinkCentre M920 and call it a day
and a NAS or USB case for storage
heres the one im leaning at: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NWZQX1J
Apevia’s Prestige line of power supplies brings great power and efficiency to your computer system. 80+ Gold certified, and designed for elegant form and function, they bring it to life. Supporting the 12v2. 3 standard and single rail setup, it’s updated for modern platforms. Boasting a 135mm sil...
little more powerful but i dont know the power draw of both HDD's and both disk drives
i mean im happy with the 450w PSU i have
then keep the 450W PSU
says that system rating is 457w
so most of the time your system will be <100W
unless you decide to run furmark all day
or do intense gaming sessions on your media center pc
idk enough about furmark, so i just assume that it stresses the cpu, too
worst case someone plays gtav for like 12 hours
now i wonder how much your system with powerlimits draws
probably also <500W even with a 4090
xD
don't you have like a 10GW PSU?
oh a kinda reasonable choice, i'm surprised 😄
i thought you would go for something like 1kW for that system
yea, even i would consider it when buying new, for a 4090 system
just to be safe
so you just went with what you had, good
yeah im putting a 1kw into my main rig
and from what i've read the penality of powerlimiting a 4090 is kinda smol for cutting of the major power draw
it seems to be the most efficient 4000 series card, considering frames/watt
yea and as said you usually don't have 100% load on both
we haven't reached that peak of gamedev yet
asside from the PSU this is pretty much what will be in the media desktop when done
wtf is with that 1TB drive? an existing one i hope?
yeah the drives and opticals exist
i would still get an NVME for that system... and save on other parts
and i use them often enough when i digitize movies i buy from the discount bin (and play older games that require a game disk to remain in the drive)
i buy movies digitize them then destroy the dvd
saves shelf space
found a copy of directors cut avatar (first) for like $2
i think they even made that illegal here
because it's bypassing copy protections 😄
its such a fool country by now
that kinda nails it
idk why it would be illegal, since theres technically only one copy
According to German law, it dictates that it is illegal to circumvent mechanisms that prevent copying, but it allows the manufacture of copies of copyrighted digital material for personal, non-commercial use.
now what
so yesn't
i did yesterday?
yeah i use it only for personal stuff,
i suggested using the same sort method on client and server to ensure order, was that wrong?
because the person i talked to didn't really agree with me
also dropping the 12600k for the 12400 dropped only 30w off the estimated wattage
tbh a new case for this computer would probably be worth it but aside from the front ports being installed upside down theres nothing physically wrong with it
so even with all the other crap the psu should be able to run this?
on amazon without the sales even the 600k is less expensive
wdym
ah
i was guessing so, i mean what would i really gain/loose from having/not having it
given the usecase for the desktop
now the 12700k has a z690 mb
and im assuming gamedev would be the most use of the letter k
so uh what would use the k?
or is it one of those "its nice to have but your almost never likely to use it realistically
my cabinet didn't arrive today and I'm so mad
I just decided to stay without a case
until whenever it arrives
support the gpu somehow so that the pci slot does have less weight on it
understood, I will do that
thank you!
the support should be strong enough to holt the weight so you don't break the pci slot
I think my GPU came with a support stand already
even if it doesn't help, I'll make sure that it is supported
am I going crazy or is there actually no 12 pin connector here?
for this
never mind I'm just stupid
thats the size of a football
it works!!!
I've managed to install windows 11
and everything seems fine so far
Still need to stress test
there's constant BSODs now for some reason 🥲✌️
I'm trying to resolve them
multiple stop codes
system service exception, iqs less or equal, etc etc
I don't remember them verbatim but something like those
thankfully driver booster ALWAYS creates a system restore
so that's wonderful
You're going crazy
It's a mini itx board
Actually I think its micro atx
yes yes I eventually figured it out
Good good. I found that abomination 3070 anime card on amazon finally. It's only $499
I'm seriously considering buying this in the future
noicee
why? it's last gen, from an unknown company and looks like shit
what card do you have now?
I have a 1060 6GB somewhere around the house
It's the only pc hardware I have physically at the moment aside from this shitty laptop, now.
I'm not sure, I remember us talking about it
us being idk who
hold on lemme search
Maxsun is one of them
Never heard of it, maxsun not soyo
Is there even a point to current gen gpus when last gen GPU's are cheaper and still perform very well in gaming
AMDs cards do that apparently
the RDNA 2 ones
my last card was AMD but I wanted access to DLSS and RT so I went Nvidia this time
And how many games have ray tracing
You could've used fsr 2
It's just as good as dlss and works for any gpu, nvidia or amd.
Intel as well, I think
are you sure it's just as good as FSR?
I used FSR and it looks... not good
and the general consensus is that DLSS is much better
Well fsr is a software
Dlss has it's own dedicated chips on a nvidia gpu
Fsr is good for what it is, and usable for any gpu. While dlss is only useful for nvidia GPUs that has dlss
also I bought a new SSD and it's insane how fast it is
What kind of ssd
yeah yeah ik
idk a PCIE Gen4 M.2
since I have access to DLSS now and of access to FSR, ig I can run tests
Why would you wanna use fsr and dlss anyways
How much does it actually increase performance
FSR does by a lot I think
I could run Cyberpunk 2077 on an RX 580
For older gpus to prolonged needing to upgrade is understandable
But big beefy GPUs like the 4000 series is kinda overkill for dlss
my goal is to have a low entry cost for my game
and with supporting older GPUs, I can have that
by the time I launch my game, 4000 will probably be very old
plus i need to test for both DLSS and FSR by myself
Dlss is just another excuse for game developers like Battlestate Games to not optimize their game
like who?
The developers of escape from tarkov
ahhh okay
Still bothers me
Wanted to play the game so bad, but it's so badly made and most of the players are, pardon my french, complete ego driven monkeys with slight brain damage
ahhh never experienced bad game communities myself
For pathracing in cyberpunk you need dlss
With a 4090 at 1440p you need dlss upscaling to play with pathtracing, for a great experience you also need frame gen, and you can get like 120 fps and it actually feels great
I'm playing it with both, at 1440p on a 4090
Generally there is almost 0 disadvantage to DLSS upscaling, if a game supports it, there is no reason not to use it, at least the quality option
you have a 4090 and you at Cyberpunk at 1440p? holy shit
I didn't get the card for gaming, it's for professional use
Me theory on why they wont optimize is because they know people would need high end pcs to play the game comfortably. And if those players (hopefully dumb ones with lots of money) get addicted, they'll constantly dump money into it. Like they do now
it's a miracle I could run it at 1080p60 on my ancient card
yeah but the card's function is the same, no?
Needing dlss with the best gpu to play cyberpunk at 1440p is a scary thought
The key point here is with pathracing
which is insane that it even runs on a consumer GPU at all
Atleast dlss launch wasnt as bad as rtx launch
hm what do you mean
like the card's performance would be the same regardless of your use case, right?
Not really
Well I'm gaming on it since my work pc is my personal PC, but I use it for machine learning and other stuff
Some gpus excel at other things more than they do gaming
ahh that checks out
but we're talking about an RTX 4090 here
Someone said 4090 is just a professional card disguised as a gaming card
I forgot who
I think I said that 😅
What I meant is that a 4090 is really not a card anyone should get for gaming
It makes more sense for those buying it for professional uses
but nvidia is trying to sell it as a gaming card
They're smoking dick as usual
Is 4090 better than A6000
An actual marketed professional card
hmm alright I'll do that
Do mobos still make noise when ram isnt installed/installed properly
no I don't think so
Used to be morse code beeps I think, some old dell tower i played around with did that
Depends if your pc speaker is hooked up or not.
Wasn't morse code, just error codes.
"pc speaker" isn't anything to do with your speakers or headphones.
It's part of the motherboard/case
It's called beep code lol
I have having to turn my PC on by shorting it 😭
Hook up the front panel buttons on your case
Oh
Motherboards these days sometimes actually just have a power button on the motherboard...
Did you check for that?
Are you trying to overclock any?
Turn pc on again and watch temperatures maybe?
Try booting into safe mode
Maybe your windows install got corrupted
Did you install and update drivers or update mobo bios if it has an update
Dont think the ram is causing any problems, most mobos now have indicator LEDs
Check that
yeah my bet is on windows install getting corrupted
I'm not sure how to solve that
I guess I'll format all of my drives again
What do you have your mobo sitting on
one is Corsair, another is WD and another one is Seagate
nope
Is the drive you're installing windows on got enough capacity for it
yep
all of them are empty
1tb, 500gb and 2tb
okay reseating the ram again got me into the bios
Oh hey look at that, I may be a genius after all
Nah, it's always the ram
Is it the blue screen with a lot of text or the blue screen with a smiley face
Either one should give a code with a corresponding error to it
smiley
I had to do it twice lmao
Once didn't work
multiple error codes
yep, a2 and b2
That's the standard but did manual say those slots as well, always good to double check
yes
that's what the manual said
okay so I deleted ALL partitions
from the install guide
gonna try creating new ones
wish me luck
Goodluck
thanks lmao
@mighty cosmos is it okay if I refer him to another server that can probably most likely help them troubleshoot this, just as a precaution?
Sure 👍
Thx, dont wanna get banned for "poaching" members
@hardy marten I sent the link in dms
Check out the troubleshoot channel if you still get blue screens
received, thanks!
Yw
It's faster than A6000 Ampere but A6000 has more memory
It's pretty much on par with 6000 Ada, but again has less memory
But considering those are 7k and 15k$ cards 😅
which you want 3 computers worth of GPU or a costly gpu that works in your existing computer
dont you need to specially power the bigger industrial cards?
also for my media computer couldnt i technically power my GPU with its own PSU? i have a handful of spare ones
the arc750 that is
the old GPU's i have arent plugged in elsewhere
4090 still has more than sufficient memory so its okay innit
the 450w psu for every but the GPU and plug in the arc750 into a spare 350w psu
i have lots of desk space to stick the second PSU outside the case
and for whatever reason (dunno where they came from) i have 3 spare 350w psu's
i mean i have all those tools needed
Measure twice cut once
Why two psus tho
cause one is 450w and the other is 350w, and estimated total max watt usage for the rig is 524w
way too many disk drives
Just buy a new psu
but i already have 2 and im cheap
where would i sell them though
that wont take huge chunks of the sales
ebay is the worst, i sold a thing for $200 and got $161 after they took their cut
Facebook marketplace
and it was local pickup (who would pay literal freight for a $200 model set)
hehe
electrical engineer to the max
This case looks pleasing and it comes with 10 fans + controller/hub
Has all the holes a man needs for beautiful cable management to boot
Why would that be a reason not to buy
Do you not like cable management
When I said man I mean person, not exactly just a male
Yeah it leaves a lot to be desired
But it comes with fans, nice cable management routes. And it's only $159
The case I wanted went out of stock, so I'm still looking
Always either of these
Lian li one doesnt come with fans so that's $149 + $60 for fans
the case i bought (for airflow) has cable management and all i see is that its really not as good as it should be, and unless something inside is glowing... your likely not to see anything inside
I'm going with the funny front panel one
The fans and same cable routes as the lian li for cheaper is too good to pass
Unless I settle with nonrgb white fans for $18
Rgb is for children
I'm an adult with a childs mind, unluckily for me
Lol
what i have: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C7BGV3D
The CORSAIR 4000D AIRFLOW is a mid-tower ATX case with easy cable management and exceptional cooling. A steel front panel offers optimal airflow to your components, accompanied by two included 120mm AirGuide fans designed with anti-vortex vanes that enhance cooling. The CORSAIR RapidRoute cable m...
tbh the only RGB in my new build is the ram
cause of fcking course decent ram has rgb why not
i have 2 optical drives and a floppy bay in my media pc
Where do you even buy them, that dont almost immediately fail
Do you enjoy your 122kb disks
its corsair ram so probably icue
I was born in the wrong era
Floppy disks arent even floppy
Suing for false advertising
I was close
I have a navy blue one somewhere at my dads
With a box of breadboards capacitors resistors etc
Old tower from my childhood I used to play that damn cursed barnyard game
Icue too expensive to be shit
Price != quality sadly
and the disks inside the case are floppy its just a protective cover cause ye
I thought the disks were small compact disks like gamecube disks
Even tho floppy disks are older
It is a small CD like disk, just plastic coated in magnetic shit
yeah they disks that are floppy in a hard shell cause bending them kinda destroys them
part of me wants to make a floppy disk out of solid state then use them as large hard to lose backup drives
given how thin NVMe can be
what's openrgb
don't tell me it's a unifier
for all these shitty RGB systems
bruhhh
why did no one tell me this before
alright alright I get it 😭
acksually I did not
oh god more BSODs
tbh i wish the ram used chroma cause i already have that in my system for my keyboard
wot?
dude I can't even get to install windows itself properly
I tried it, it worked out a few times
xmp is off
1 ram stick, eh?
noted
yes clearly
lemme do that
whats wrong with razor?
did that already, it's A2
wait wait, i need to install my ram specially if im loading a new version of win?
I'm scared for my life 😭
I don't even know which part might be the defective one so that I can return it
oh wait what
okay so I managed to boot up
but I can't find 2 of my 3 drives
might need to restart
Open drive management (or whatever it's called), find them there, format and create partitions
i know after adding physical drives restarting might show them
they're missing
Nvm
I'm sorry I have to upload captures instead of screenshots but I can't do that
yeah ik where disk management is eheheheh
Allocate that unallocated space
which volume should I create? simple, spanned, striped or mirrored?
Simple, it's what I always use
okay

hawk somehow breaks his computer after buying it
i already broke the first one
it was just salvageable
spending a year in my hands is the ultimate test of mobile tech
i managed to shatter my phone screen just by putting it in my jeans pocket
should I install the other RAM stick now?
noted, I'll turn the power off and then add the stick
i mean she loves me, but hates im a walking dad joke
yeah dw lol I get it
now its me bugging laura about pc part stuff
ok now im WILDLY confused
the MB i bought for the main and wanted for the backup computer, went up to $299 and went all the way back to $159
yeah PC part prices tend to go haywire
but for like 48 hours only wtf
the GPU that I bought went from 66k INR to 72k INR and then BACK to 66k INR in a few days
can't convert that into dollars rn, sorry
for a second i was like "what you bought a truck?"
america ive had one since 18
granted could have gotten one at 16 but those are so expensive
I should have one too
they are good to have even if you dont use them
but 1) I don't need it (public transport!) and 2) I'm lazy
yeah I do plan to get one eventually
i have a lot of licenses i dont use
there's still tons of stuff I need to do
but I don't have time
but it's not like I do anything anyway
where is all the time going?
class A drivers, CDL, single/multiple prop plane and IFR private pilots, motorcycle, boating, forklift, and demolition
various jobs and such
@iron zenith you're a fucking goddess dude thank you so much 😭
insane
that stuff sounds really good
hah! I have a demolitions license! and an airplane one!
you need something legally blown up from a plane after i drive a semi truck to the airport. ill even load it with a forklift
I wanna get obscure, cool licenses too!
im working on my IT one from compTIA
hey my family pays for any learning, and when you get a job being able to drive/pilot/captain anything you might need to helps
you need a license for... operating computers?
technically to professionally work on them
its not "required" but like your more likely to get hired for having it
riiiight yeah that makes sense
and i technically have a security clearance cause brother is a test pilot for the USAF
hm?
what are these words
I don't understand any of them
riiiight
you seem to have worked everywhere damn
i have
i have autism, schizophrenia, and bipolar it leads to wild job gains and losses
us defaultism is a thing lol
gotcha
yeah but I'm not sure if I'm going to be commercial or personal lol
better safe than sorry
yes it is
alrighty then
thanks again
yeah checks out
I'll uninstall on day 13 then
what program is this?
HWiNFO
system diagnostic thingy
this plus "forklift certified" is basically all that is hawk
snaps the ram off while installing it
i think im gonna install the same MB in both computers
worst case one fails i have an identical backup
given MB failures come in 2 methods. easily identifiable and too expensive, or never see it and impossible to repair
and hey makes it easier to diagnose problems when everything is the same
granted but the murphy's law of possibilities
my gaming laptop was fine till one day it went poof
no known cause of issues, just poofed and the techs said tests showed a broken MB which cost the CPU and GPU
and im a little weird that way
i like simplifying things even if it costs a small bit more
whats the diff between 3060 8gb and 4060 8gb like from a use in gaming and game dev
so 3060 12gb over 4060 8gb?
i mean im 3 weeks away from buying anyways
they price the same the 4060 and 3060
ahhh, Discord on my new PC
feels sooo good
do I have to pay $200 dollars for a Windows 11 Pro key? I can find a legitimate one on Amazon for $70 but it comes in a USB and I already have an unactivated version installed (and FINALLY running)
I can't find any non-shady looking resellers
tbh i doubt im gonna upgrade for a while
well guess I have to search harder
part cost part i enjoy win10
I don't want to move to a new OS in the middle of my PC's usage
better just do it at the start
theres that
though for me its more that installing all the programs i want (many which were disks) kinda sucks when id have to physically bring my desktop somewhere else or spend 6 months installing everything
modem noises
and i live 27 miles from dallas
I don't know how that is useful in this conversation lol
which is a major data node
honestly cant wait till im at that point
it feels amazing
then i wont have to use this (not terrible but not good) laptop anymore for main gaming
I don't have one sadly, I think it's gone
I have no idea how I activated Win10 years ago
yeah I still have that planned
fair enough
riiiight gotcha
I'll expand my search
thank you!
i got a ton of copies of win10
and apparently the one good thing about geeksquad is they can transfer your copies
back when it was free i claimed a copy for every hard drive i had that worked
how many hard drives do you have
honest answer?

38
people trust me with their old computers
no clue why
i strip the expensive stuff i might use or can break down for raw materials, nuke the drives and keep them around for the raid box
one summer our church was overhauling EVERY computer including their server and they let me take home EVERYTHING
and for a while i had a small biz server tower
but... why?
churches have computers? why? and they just let you take everything?
🤯
more... BSODs...
GAHHHHHH
fuck it I'll check if RAM is faulty AGAIN and if it is, I'll return it or something
I'm so angry
because i have lots of storage space and i hoard my tech parts
hey guys, I plan to upgrade from my 500gb nvme
is this a good deal or should I look elsewhere?
nice, thanks @iron zenith
@hardy marten what brand ram did you buy bro
GSkill Ripjaws
why'd you ask?
I didnt see the picture
Slow internet today
Was there a picture, I'm not sure. I'm busy learning multi threading background loading for godot to optimize scene changing speeds for slowing pcs/devices
USB-powered network switch. Never again. Gone from every 10th ping timing out to my own internet router to a steady <1ms.
how are you so sure?
there was none
Ryzen 9 7900X
Was your ram broken lol
It could be, that code you got can be triggered by ram.
It's one of your hardware components
If anything you could just say fuck windows and go linux and see if anything bsod-like happens with it
nah I'd like to stick to Windows
do any of you happen to know what this means?
Those are memory address errors, I believe
that means the RAM is faulty, right?
Idk if those are ram memory address or cpu memory addresses
Ask kimble in that server I sent you too, he most likely knows
noted, I'll do that
yea that pretty much looks like memory issues
could have several reasons tho, check if the auto configuration picked the correct voltage
since it also looks like you don't use them with XMP or similar
next step is checking one module at a time and see if the error still happens
if it's only one module, then put it in another slot to check if that changes anything
do you at least have everything in a case now?
or faulty mainboard
or bad power supply, considering that you struggled to find the correct plugs 😄
or the fact that you placed the mainboard on antistatic foil...
probably with all the soldering pins penetrating it
The reduced electrical surface resistivity of 109 to 1012 Ω means that film material is practically semi-conducting, and it can let the charge from the film bag flow off into the surroundings.
this could probably be enough to cause trouble
I'm moving everything into one as we speak
it's 2 and I requested a replacement already
it's set to default
no overclocking present
test both modules on their own, once you got everything in the case
no I'm 99% sure the power cables are properly set
ahhhh
there's a cardboard box underneath that foil
anyway, moving everything into a case now
shite
maybe I'm not cut out for this stuff 😭
damn
i've even run hardware on that foil before without issues, wasn't even aware that it is supposed to conduct THAT good
so I'm not the only one doing... these things
but well, that was probably an era where hardware wasn't tooo sensitive
didn't live to witness it sadly
chill
build everything together in the case and test it again
with proper grounding on the board, etc... that could change a lot
and by proper grounding i mean the normal mainboard screws, not a conductive surface touching the whole mainboard 😄
show em!

are all of these lappys?
yes
I see
that's not my area of expertise, sorry
someone else might help!
just wanna mention this in case someone might make this mistake:
NEVER cheap out on PSUs, there's nothing worse than ALL of your parts getting fried because of a bad PSU.
(it didn't happen to me but still)
better than finding your old computer was powered by a PSU labled "sparkle power inc"
*with 103wattage
did they lace it with blastex
its not plastic insiliation its plastic explosive
also WHY 103w why not just 100w
TIL you're from one of the stan countries
thankfully I lucked out the first time and then figured this out (for the second build)
I'm stuck in a ridiculous situation where I can't seem to unscrew the cases' expansion slot thingy
so that I can install my damn graphics card
why cant you unscrew them?
it's not coming off
I am trying to remove them with all my strength
yes I am
I tried doing it in both directions
Definitely prefer counterclockwise
they just don't budge bruh
can you get a better shot at the side of the screw
sometimes those flatfaces have issues on their built in washers (conractor hawk here) and they can sort of lock into something
why would I use a non-screwdriver
what kind of screw driver are you using
Some manufacturers install them very tight torque the #%(#! out of it
flat? I can't take a picture of it
FLAT
nope this ain't thumbscrews
ARE YOU INSANE
uhh so what about this?
I just might be
I want to see the flat screwdriver that works with these philips head screws
its not working
I've been using the same screw driver for all the screws
those are deephead phillips, and theres ZERO reason you whould EVER use a flathead
that's what I'm using
that is adorable
?
turns out screws aren't my strongest suit either
and not appropriate for high torque applications
i mean yes... but it shouldnt be flathead
this is what I have access to
you are giving me heart palpitations
i cant tell ahlf those heads
yes yes I do but hear me out, a minus fits into a plus
not in hardware
why not laptop?
pretty good until now 😭
i mean a drillbit also removes screws
will a simmilar desktop be better?
also very hot
bonkers can you get us a clearer picture of the heads?
this one?
yes ofc hold on
There are two or three phillips screws there, but if they're too small they'll be useless
I have this big ass kit but apparently there's no standard stuff in it
a dollar tree screwdriver set would work
Time to borrow a #2 screwdriver (literally the most common) from a neighbor
or get one for a DOLLAR
I think I destroyed the head
has a DRAWER full of them i got for free]
fuck
it's 1 03am there's no neighbor active
alright welpp I'll order one ASAP
yeah you can get that out once then throw it away
walmart
i dont know a store that doesnt sell them
yeah I can throw it away, there's tons of them
even JCPenny here has a few for their furniture section
I don't live in the US lol
okay okay I get it, I shall order a big Philips screwdriver
no, not a big one
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CjnV6D something like this will be more expensive i think
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7700, Cooler Master MasterBox NR200 Mini ITX Desktop
and not perform the same
normal?
#2 phillips
gotcha
right there
i have SOOOO MANY of these
yall wanna see my collections?
hawk has wayyyy too many tools
then there's me, "flat"
I need a guide to soo many things
it was working fantastic so far
legit no issues
so I thought I fucked something up
$5 usd, exactly what you need, fits like 90% of the worlds phillips screws
yes lesson learnt 😞
doesnt have the nice magnetic tip
ahh gotcha
but if you have a fridge magnet you can give it one
my country's amazon wants me to order at least 3 of them
I don't need 3 screwdrivers 😭
You might if you lose them often enough.
doesnt have to that EXACT one but yeah #2 phillips
0 hardware skills
yeah yeah I get it
just put that in the search bar pick one, craftsman makes the best ones in my experience
true
yeah I'll just do that tomorrow
ive broken so many drivers on jobs that craftsman has proven their worth and their stuff isnt usually that expensive
but unlike fancy driver sets the simple steel alloy in hardened plastic, never gonna go wrong
so i guess a laptop at that price range will be better
laptops for gaming/gamedev are a world unto themselves kostaxr
don't get a lappy unless you really, really, really need to
well desktops are expensive too
yes but they're quality
simple change in the planet they are built at can WILDLY change their performance
and will last longer
like is the one i posted better?
my media desktop is 9 years old, and aside from the CPU being a bit of trash, its outlived 6 laptops
3 of them $1500 usd gaming laptops
LMAOOOO WHAT 😭
everything except the monitor is alright
and you really want a mini-ITX board?
i want a small factor
yeah unless your getting a smaller tower because space constraints you want a regular atx
if you are planning to carry it everywhere then just don't
if your desk space is limited then mayyybee
i guess
well the laptop is mixed use
uni / programming / game dev
I wanted to go EATX but then I was like... why?
it's a normal ATX mid tower case
but it looks good though
my previous case was local and it was trash
also @hardy marten heres a set, trust me, unless your big into DIY stuff this set will solve pretty much everything you might possibly need: https://www.amazon.com/CRAFTSMAN-Screwdriver-Assorted-12-Piece-CMHT65044/dp/B07QK2PFKY
sorry to be stuck but wrong tools bugs me to no end
I like... big things. For example big money, big GPU, big house, etc.
I understand, I don't blame you
I feel the same way when someone screws something up that I know about
hell my username is a great example
yes I'm very funny
idk what that is but if it's big, then yay!
wrong tools and someone messing with my toolbox (puting tools in the wrong drawer) are like the only pet peeves i really have
goes for a 3/8 allen "where the fck is my allen set god damnit"
lemme look it up
what the fuck
its cool but its also screaming "small used car cost"
for the case or everything in it?
That's not terrible
ok whats the entire thing fully tricked out worth? $20K
no way everything in it will cost just 250
half the cases i looked at are more expensive
glares at msi
$50
looks like a meth lab
it's from Cooler Master and looks great
is that dyed liquid cooling?
With oversized reservoirs so you don't die of thirst.
Wonder if gatorade would corrode a liquid cooler...
not at first
I have an AIO but it doesn't seem like there's any liquid in it
it's so small and I don't see a tank
of coolant or whatever
it doesn't even make a noise
unless you need a LOT of liquid cooling most tend to be small and contained
at first I thought I'll need to pour in my own water 😭
yeah regular water from your tap is REALLY corrosive
where are you gonna get distilled water lmao
walmart
There's a liquid (sort of) in your typical CPU cooler too, heatpipes ftw
its like $1 a gallon
hawww. TIL.
how many liters is that?
i think 2-3?
welp I don't have the proper screwdriver rn so ig I'll wrap up and sleep
3.78
what will you do with 2 to 3 liters of distilled water
my point still stands
use it for coolant
Pour in what you need and drink the rest
ALL of it?
I don't think that's healthy
i mean in a pinch it will cool your car too
Don't believe the urban legends.
right fair enough
yessir, I shall believe only you from now on
Look up the people who've died from water consumption. It's tens of liters, in under an hour, not distilled.
The distilled barely makes a difference anyway. Tap is still far short of eloctrolyte water.
yeah tbh i like cold distilled water
what about those 100% submerged nonconductive mineral water rigs?
ye
we talking motor, vegetable, or?
that looks like vegetable
same as the transformers on your power lines
Mineral oil was probably too viscous. They use some proprietary chemical solutions for the commercial scale implementations, which might be little more than doped water.
uhm
what year are you living in lmao
rainwater has literally everything in it
these days
genius 100
what's that?
flint poor flint
ahh I see
yall got royally fucked by you municiple water
Lead pipes, acidic water, play of the game
damn how do they survive?
bottled water
what about water that isn't for drinking? still bottled water?
It's improved and they can probably use it for other purposes.
damn that's awful
I've heard of another place where their groundwater was contaminated by fracking, so they got complimentary water filtration systems that are bigger than that Tower 900 case.
well found the monitor im getting: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C3Z74ZP5/
oh yeah I know that too, can't remember the name tho sadly
isn't that a little bit overkill for your single core PC?
and am going multiscreen
I don't understand the appeal of multiscreen either
just get one big monitor
problem solved
and no technical hassle too
tbh bigger screens for me drag my ADHD through the mud and LSD of too much vertical surface space
...LSD?
yeah, drives me batshit
i miss so much crap because its like not horzontally in front of me
take the initiative and solve your problems!
also arent ultrawides plauged with video stretch for games that arent made with them in mind?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7700, Cooler Master MasterBox NR200 Mini ITX Desktop
go for mini micro-ATX
and why are you choosing a monitor with a weird resolution
oh right
that's what I meant to say lol
16:10 monitor
60 hz
tbh im already gonna have like 6 screens in this room (excluding my phone and book reader) so maybe start single screen get a second for research
