A quick UI question: How can you override the snap grid in something like the blend space axis graph? For example: You have a 1D blend space axis from 0 to 375 with the default grid line count of 4. How can I place an element in a spot not on a grid line (like at 80)? In other apps, I'm used to using a modifier key (like Ctrl) to enable placement off of a grid line (Yes, I know I can define 375 grid lines but I was looking for a more sensible solution than that).

I can add a new module, character, component ect very easily.
I even cheated and used asset manager to find bp's in certain folders (and recursively) of certain class, for automatic sorting and array population without hardcoding every new asset. I can duplicate a weapon and its just there

guys i found on google that if i set the play rate of an animation to --1 it will play in reverse but when i do it actually it doesn't matter if it's negative or positive it does jut accelerate the playrate

If you wanted to get linguistically technical, UE4 is probably obligated to have a gender in languages that don't have a neuter form.

Well when i make a new project and of course visual studio will open up. But then when i try and make a new class, it will open up another instance of visual studio and display a kind of error message. Depending on what you do with the engine, a better gaming pc is usually enough
Means an up to date GPU,CPU and 16 to 32 GB ram. Then an SSD or M2 to speed things up and an HDD for bigger files.
By the way, why all of my new WD Gold HDDs are slowing unreal when it's loading small textures?
I've read an article that it all because of bad Allocation Unit Size, not sure why it's affecting on performance tho

Also, don't forget that UE isn't Unity, so you can't apply and draw by it that easy. Layers are for bump mapping imo, but it's all up to you.

Well procedural generation is using algorithms to generate new content at runtime. It can be anything, music, environments, pictures, etc.
Really, you can do almost anything in Unreal
It'd just be up to you to write code for it.

It's definitely possible, but you have to write a LOT of code yourself.

@crystal lotus You have to expose functions in c++ with a specific UE4 macro then have the bp call the function
a simple way to do that is to set up an animation notification for the time that the character's hand touches the door
have the anim notif call the c++ function

So sound notifies seem pretty straight forward. I've done them before but its been a while. Doing it now and I'm not hearing anything as my dudes animation plays. Also if someone could tell me if this belongs more in #animation or #audio and I'll go there.

And reason why SLI is rarely supported is because:
- it’s rarely used on end user PCs
- doesn’t exist on consoles
- requires separate approach for optimizing your rendering to be SLI friendly
has anyone exported paragon characters? most seem fine to export as fbx, but countess and shinbi won't seem to export the mesh, i get the skeleton but that's it

UE 3 was forward and it had AO
games have had SSAO for years
it's not exlusive to deferred
I think pretty much all forward renderers do a depth pre-pass so then they can do SSAO easily
along with other stuff
There are even UE4 builds by people in this discord that get SSAO in forward. That effect works perfectly fine like that.
It's just there's a difference between getting SSAO in forward and getting SSAO fast enough for VR, which is why you're probably using forward in the first place.

Does it make any sense to adopt first person animations and blend them separately (clavicle L and clavicle R) so as to have a better stable experience in a multiplayer game that shows a character's own body?
notably all 3rd person animations are not particularly playable when in first person
Do not use one animation for third and first person. Star Citizen learned that the hard way
Making two animations is actually less work
A good way to go about it would be to use FirstPerson Animations for the one controlling the Pawn and have other players see the ThirdPerson animations. OwnerNoSee and vice versa works great for stuff like that.
