@modern perch@ebon leaf I would say epic took care of that for us? otherwise I doubt they would be allowed to let people use it, a verification would be needed. As for the bike in the pic it has unreal mark so I thought it would be available somewhere and belong to epic, couldn't find it anywhere
If Epic took care of that for us, we would've got the Porsche 911 Speedster concept app, back when RTX was still fresh.
that was never available for download afaik, from my perspective any demo that is published by epic it's content will be free to use as long as it follows the "Licensed for Use Only with Unreal Engine-based Products" or at least that's how I see it , now the problem is they don't allow questions on their products to confirm, any other way to know for sure?
The scene itself, yes. But the vehicle is under different licence imposed by the real manufacturer.
Besides, you can plop in your own vehicle that you totally get under very okay terms, tweak some stuff around, apply proper materials, and call it a day.

So in short, you're implying that the car model is original by Epic and not under different limited licence imposed by the manufacturer.
All other free content by Epic are provided as is, if they're original by Epic themselves. e.g. Paragon assets.
I'm saying epic partnered with the manufacturer (in this case audi ) to release & use the product model under unreals licence
Audi would've disagree if it used outside Epic's own capacity. And by own, excluding every single Unreal licensees, just Epic Games themselves.
Which is why Ferrari (IIRC) was a thing in Fortnite, but Audi was not provided as uncooked Unreal asset.

How do you share assets in a team environment? Just import the ones you buy yourself?
Unity has a studio system, where you can transfer your licence to some asset onto a project/ org. Not sure if UE has an equivalent.

your team probably wants a central account for the Marketplace, if that's where you're buying them
Share them inside your project, using source control if it's an asset pack or Content only stuff
plugin licensing is more complicated, yeah
Code plugins can't be licensed per seat, according to EULA. You actually had to go through snail e-mail to get bulk licensing
or set up a work account for every user, which would be nightmarish for teams of any real size
Ah we have bought heaps on personal profiles so far, but idk seems like a nicer solution. It's just us two buying assets ATM, so in case things don't work out we walk away with a bunch of useful assets still

if you know the specific someone, you can ask the email adress used for epic-games/unreal engine, contact the mp team and ask them to give them the asset

Back then I was tasked to make a (scuffed) Star Wars fan film, I just make my own with a simple sphere, sky atmo, and an equirectangular texture of Mars.

If you just looking for roads, you can just create them using standard landscape splines & megascan textures.
Just watch some tutorials.
Anyway, the assets that come with Brushify are high quality. It's bit difficult to customize the material & extend.

There are some workstations like olive press, grain mill, blacksmith grinder in our recently released asset pack. I want to update it according to people's needs. Currently only houses with windows and doors have sockets on the house but workstations that i mentioned have adjusted pivots for the movable parts.
Both? But I would expect everything to be pre-assembled as much as possible. I think cases where another assembly would be required would be rare, but if they are you should have all the options

We use socket system just by drag and drop parts on base mesh in the scene
it makes it easier to move rotate or other things since u only need to do that for the base mesh
but adjusted pivot meshes need to be grouped to be able to do that
and if we put both versions of the mesh would double disk size of the pack so its not a good option either
I would expect BPs with everything assembled and some customization options, as well as static meshes with parts combined into one already with different variations

I guess it's a common misconception that BPs hurt performance no matter what, but in reality it's only when Event Tick gets abused a lot.

Noo, there's a lot of trash on the marketplace that is good to be warned about. Just need an active moderation team that responds to silly/ trolling reviews appropriately. Removing reviews entirely would be bad for everyone IMO
Just text reviews, ratings should stay. But rate anonymously. This will prevent cases where users are blackmailing publishers
I disagree still, what if people down vote because it doesn't work on VR or mobile, that I don't care about? Just a rating is rarely useful, and the actual text usually is much clearer with anything to watch out for/ be wary of

The standard licence is terrifying and I'd never buy something with that licence. UE one's is chill because the asset is mine to use without any extra headaches, plugins aside

Why is terrifying? Installable tool is one per seat as in UE marketplace and for assets it's up to the publisher to provide the appropriate licenses they feel like. Artstation for stock assets even has an option: Extended Commercial Use which allows unlimited usage of the asset, if the publisher allows it. Not to mention the ability to create Custom EULA and provide indie or big studios different type of licenses.
The advantage is, nothing is set to stone and publishers control better their products and users can see better what they get. ๐

Yeah but that licence is typically much more expensive than the UE MP version. Creators typically have pricing parity between UE and AS Standard licence, which has random restrictions based on 'views' among other things.
I'm not going to flick through pages of legal mumbo jumbo when the same assets are often sold on the UE MP, with better integration into the engine (built in import, update notifications in the launcher).
What i hope is for UE Mp to have same functionality

Hey all, I'm new to unreal and the epic launcher. I downloaded a free Ventilation System pack for my level I'm designing and I cant seem to find a way to import it into my project. It has a read me text file that explains how to install it but it tells me to "install a older version of the Epic Games Launcher" and then transfer the packs contents to the VaultCache within the launcher files. Can anyone help me with this? I don't really want to change to A older version of the epic launcher (sorry if this is posted in the wrong area)
you might have to if the latest version it supports is a version older than what you have
The pack is listed as 4.26 and I am using 4.27. Do I need to downgrade to that specific version?

No, it has the same layout as something from the Epic Games Marketplace would have. Majority of the files within the pack are .uasset

I suppose you could drag the whole folder into your project's content folder, via file explorer, then launch the editor. Cant guarantee it'd work though.
I tried adding the folder to my VaultCache folder in the directory but it didn't seem to work. Ill try your method.

I used A Modular door pack from there that worked with Unreal but this one doesn't seem to.

retargeting is really finnicky though, really depends on their A or T pose and what not.

not much we can do about it, piracy@unrealengine.com iirc can list them. in some rare cases they do take websites down.

We need a purge-type event once a year where the entire marketplace is like practically free and the sellers are compensated. That would discourage these scammers
I don't think this is a good idea - if anything, it encourage piracy by making scarcity long enough (1/365 days) for those who missed it, and worst of all, the provider can still receive free updates.

Yeah! That's my point too. I have a few packs which are freely available on GitHub(with N/C license) & I still get decent amount of sales from the MP.
People who could afford to pay will pay you anyway.
Some authors have issues with those other people are asking for support.

There's something called Licenses ๐ You can't use anything you can see inside a GitHub repo.
You can't compare it with a copy-paste avatar NFT.
Even you copy the NFT avatar, you don't have the legal right to use it. Anyway, most of the NFT owners don't even have that copyright. Which is funny.
With GitHub, you can give a non-commercial license. (I do that)
For commercial projects, users can get it from MP.
This is somewhat similar to what Epic is doing with the UE codebase. It's not FREE even you can see it on GitHub.
You have to pay royalties when it's time.
My point was none of this.
There's a set of people who value your projects & but buy it's from the MP.
Usually, people who pirate or grab the FREE stuff always aren't your paid customers.
You really don't want to worry about those pirate stuff & there's very little you can do.
What you can do is, stop giving support to those people.
I heard it's a bit of a problem too.
I personally put my open source stuff in BSD-3-clause licence (moving from MIT, as I don't want to get associated with malicious acts arose from the free software)
And maybe I'm a bit too leaning on philanthropism, but I'd prefer many of my code to be free open source, and it's free as in free beer.

Okay, so for the distinction, I'd have the code stuff to be free as in free beer, but when it comes to assets, it's going to be mostly free as in free speech.
IMO, assets can make something more distinctive in hindsight (frontend) compared to code running in the background (backend)

Usually fine. I had one customer having issues with one of our BP-related files. But the fix was easy as simply updating some files manually. Generally it works, but try to make copies before you do so ๐
Thank you! When I did the first migration I decided to redownload all marketplace packages (30+) and reapply all the changes and customization we made to them. It was a time-expensive task and a nightmare. I'm happy to hear that's not usually needed ๐

Probably the only real restriction is that it needs to be used in a greater work, eg game, film, etc. You would not be able to remix the music, cut it up etc and release it on the marketplace or any other store as a new music pack
Question, does Epic allow you to use assets from the free collection in your marketplace pack? Say I make a BP asset and want to demonstrate it, can I use lets say the assets from the Action RPG? I could imagine you cant use assets from other assetpacks in your asset since others could just buy yours for cheaper maybe, but it could be different for the free collection since no one is losing money?
Checkout the FAQs in the marketplace site, it seems to indicate you can use epic sample content in a limited capacity for demo'ing, but it doesn't say anything from the free collections, so I'd err on the side of caution and would avoid it. If in doubt, email them

The problem is that I'm not sure about when I will get the payout. I sold my asset pack for 90 dollars on November & 260 dollars on December. Did I understand right that I will get my payment on February 1st, or will it be on 1st of March?

Any recommendations for packs that have death anims, there's only really two packs that come up when searching for death animations and they're all sort of lengthy or slow bleed outs.
I might be able to use MoCap's Online pack to speed up and enter ragdoll earlier, but was hoping to find quick death reacts depending on what part of the body you're shot, if character is crouched, directional push from explosions, etc...

I've used the udp backend for messagebus, but not udp directly in ue4
The message bus system provides some good and helpful functionality if you are communicating unreal to unreal
You can also make just slate applications with it
I'd check that out unless you specifically need to communicate with something other than unreal

There are no 1000+ products on the marketplace that are even remotely justified and whatever you are making is likely to not be justified being sold at 1000+ either.
Only times I saw people selling their stuff for 1000 on the mp was when there were throwing a tantrum.

pricing is complex, and you need to consider your target market. That is clearly aimed at archvis firms, where as yours i'm guessing would have a fairly sizable indie customer base, you can't price them out.
It's a big subject, but it's very unfair to say 1500+ is ridiculous and never justified. All depends on quality and target market

Packs(blueprint projects etc) can have a marketplace plugin dependency. Plugins with other marketplace plugin dependencies are not allowed.

nothing mixed about it, ask before submitting, don't get your project rejected for no reason. What's on the marketplace depending on other marketplace plugins are blueprints or materials
this relies on substance plugin but it's not a code plugin, it's a material library

How does it work if a market place item clearly ripped assets from another game and put it in their pack, and people already bought it? Do they lose out on the content they purchased? I am looking at something now where they tried changing animations, but you can clearly tell that everything is from another game.

maybe it's their own game? or maybe the game bought that asset pack?
You could email the marketplace team, check the pinned messages in this channel
