is the free for the month free to keep forever?
yep it always is
hmm i wonder when the spring sale is gonna start
same here. seeing it in PHP, I am more accustomed to seeing it in US dollars.
now you guys will see the price fluctuate
@fallen basalt it's top secret information
:triangular_flag_on_post: Mireneye#6794 received strike 1. As a result, they were muted for 10 minutes.
So, here is a quiz for everyone. How would you react towards a marketplace seller who has ignored your messages for three years, even if to gain access to his discord support server you have to directly message him the proof of purchase? How about if that product is expensive to boot? So basically no support for a bought asset pack.
3 years? just move on bud... it sucks for you but what can you do? just leave a review of your experience and move on, the seller is just building himself a bad reputation if what you are saying is true but we dont know that either... also afaik sellers are expected to offer support but its not mandatory so... 🤷
When you advertise support it kinda is mandatory, since it is presented as part of the deal.
3 years.... I'm disappointed of no any forum response, say few days later. I don't expect any kind of professional behaviour, but at least make it clear to the customers you don't visit or it might take more time.
Even getting in a talk with a dev, however does not guarantee productive discussion too. From what I have seen, lol.
Well I don't want to talk to the dev, I just want to be able to access the support server and to talk to the rest of the users, not the dev per se. But that requires for the dev to reply or at least act on the messages he requested on the first place.
Imagine you buying something from me and I say to you "in order to receive support you have to do X". You do X and then I ignore you. Repeatedly. How would you react?
It does, doesn't it? I've also given him every possible opportunity to respond, since I can understand if messages get lost in the noise, but discord isn't something you can ignore from my experience, even if you wanted to.
As a last chance I've just sent emails, from multiple addresses, to make sure one reaches him. After that I will contact the marketplace team, leave an appropriate review, and let this community know. Let me know if you think I'm overreacting or if there is another way to handle this.
Also left a question on the product's page. Let's see how this goes.
Who’s that vendor or you don’t wish to say
I was scared its me then i saw (3 years)
I am a noob phew
And by the way i edited the boring trailer according to ur comment
I'll say after 24h. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and a chance to respond. Because this behavior is borderline fraudulent. Don't say you provide support when you don't.
Nah man, I'm sure you respond to people asking for help. Which by the way it's not what I'm doing. I'm just following his instructions to join his freakin' discord server.
Thanks , i asked to avoid his products if it has technical issues
The product is fine as long as you don't need calcification on something or submit a bug. Then you're simply out of luck.
Oh , great, maybe he dissapeared from the market place ? / or does he have new products ? Ignoring past ones ?
Nope, whenever there is an update or needs to funnel people towards a new release he knows how to use discord.
That's what it says on his product page...
"Online support as well as additional information is available here - Discord channel"
Problem is you can't join the server. Remove that line and it will be honest.
Ahh
Yeah id just give up on reaching him and try to fix his product issues here on helping sections
It's more of an ethical matter more than it is a technical one.
Unless there are no quality standards on the marketplace.
Iv seen many expensive products with similar cases , so yeah its only by luck
But not 3 years though , thats horrible
Well, that before 3 years is in the past, but apparently he hasn't changed his mentality. UE4 users apparently are nice and useful as long as they buy his products. After that, who cares? After market service, although advertised, is non existent.
Curios does he have good reviews or similar cases on his products comments
Yes there are. At some point apparently it was also given away for free which makes me wish I've never bought that thing in the first place, given the lack of support. Even is you go on his discord server he doesn't reply. Unless it's an update of his products or a new one.
Same is true on his other discord servers for his other products as well.
So it's not a one time practice.
it sends the request to the server to create you the report in the selected interval. nothing else.
ahh okay i thought its for sending sales report information to epic for payout..glad to have this metric here so ican see my performance
😉
hi,
is the marketplace broken for anyone else?
I cant open any links or use the drop down menus. The search bar also seems to be very buggy at the moment and rarely works
Works fine for me, are you in a browser, or using the launcher?
I feel lazy to process on my next product , what to do
this is using the launcher. The browser version seems to work fine for me
im on windows 10 if that makes a difference
Browser version always works better, there's not really any reason to use the launcher IMO
alrighty, ill stick to the browser then ty
Hey Guys
I was wondering if anyone knows a good Unreal Asset that has a wheel including character rigged as an asset. to be more clear imagine the robot in Wall-E. does anyone know the closest character (rigged and ready to be used in a project) as an unreal asset? I want it to ride on surfaces instead on walking
Let me know whats best to look.
Thank you so much in advance!
Weird, yesterday was published a cheap 1.000 € music pack and no trace today...
Go home Marketplace, you're drunk 🍻
IIRC there's "Sci-fi Robot"
Me too 😄
Look, there are zero answers and it does not matter how much questions you have.
Is it possible to get import settings like in unity when I add an asset to project from the marketplace? (Like if I just want to import one of a hundred assets for example)
@snow herald no, you can't. All or nothing.
can import it all to a new/separate project, then migrate from there
@coarse sun Alright, thx for the answer anyway 🙂
@delicate dove that's good to know, what I wanted though is to be able to make downloads faster by adding what I specifically want from the start, thanks tho
i wish that was possible :/
Ikr
hey, I apparently have 51938 questions to answer to on my freshly released plugin 😆
who should I report this to?
@onyx flower hehe
Not just you, I think 😬
Unless that image is from your asset
yes it's my asset in the screenshot
Fortunately no emails 🙂
😬
Best place to report issues is on the Marketplace Creator Forum category that you should have access to - but I will forward this to the team
ok thank you
Nah, someone else's. Seems like front-end issue indeed 😄
@tired rune are you able to provide us with steps to reproduce? we don't see that number on our end
I had the same thing when viewing someone else's asset. Literally only opened the page, didn't do anything else. But seems to not happen each time, didn't have it just now when I opened a listing.
Is it any listing or the aforementioned? Are you using the Launcher or browsing on Web?
It was this one specifically: https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/toon-skies-stylized-clouds-planets-environments
On the web, Firefox
Re-opened it now, but no issue. Not sure what triggers it 🤔
I didn't do anything except opening up the asset in the browser. Unfortunately it is random, I have also opened it up in a private session to check.
One thing though: IMO it has to do with dynamic content (javascript), since I've seen the block displayed and then disappear.
Thanks for all of the details, we're investigating 🙂
@onyx flower I've been contacted with this screenshot, which shows a price that does (obviously) not correspond to the one I've set
haven't seen this myself TBH, but video here:
Not bad.
BTW as per suggestion this is now in the forum (for creators, link is https://forums.unrealengine.com/t/incorrect-data-displayed-on-product-page/226633)
@tired rune imagine seeing two sales on that price, and buyers go "oh no worries, he can keep it"
well... hopefully they can fix it
@tired rune don't worry in my marketplace the price of your asset it's the right one.
@tired rune Thanks for the video, I've reported it as well
Wow so there is an april sale 🙂
Why is using assets from the store frowned upon so much? If it’s the art style you want why pay someone to remake it for you? just so you can say I didn’t use it from the assets store.
not all gamers understand how games are made. very recently there was a hulabaloo about a studio re using assets from an older game.
a barrel is always a barrel, there's no need to model a new one everytime you need a barrel, just slap a new decal and we are good to go. disregard gamers
Also, tons of games use Megascans
Used in an insane amount of films as well, I wonder what the appropriate term for those is?
asset flicks?
Imagine a sole programmer making an amazing game , but has 0 knowledge or funds to get art
can just get stuff on MP and ship a great game
rather than not ship
I'm aware there are different cases , of course
It's a shame that so many no-effort games just use random assets that don't even serve to form an "art style". This use devalues the asset for any people who are actually making a curated experience.
Now, just because you've used a barrel (and also because gamers aren't the brightest bunch) you have a higher burden of proof that your game actually is quality.
Really, indie devs should be just as annoyed at "asset flippers".
I think it is a legitimate concern that should not be discarded on the grounds that the gaming populace is quite uninformed on how games actually get made. Does it spell doom for your game? Probably not. But if you happen to know a particular asset is often used, it might be worth considering a different asset.
There will be a subset of users who will be painfully aware of the flippy usages of the assets you choose - it is up to the individual dev to weigh whether those users are worth the effort.
dang.. every asset on my wishlist is not on sale again. I'm seeing the same assets on sale as the previous sales
Can I use my personal bought marketplace assets at work? Or do they have to buy the assets as well?
Well said, totally agree. It's the morally bankrupt that make it hard for well-meaning indies.
hey everyone what's up guys, 😄
can anyone help me, i got some artwork which i have uploaded on other sites , now i want to upload it on Epic MarketPlace, can anyone help me plz
everything is 2D artwork
I actually wonder how people would know that the assets are used in asset flips? Who actually buys/plays those in order to recognise the assets elsewhere?
With broad enough of an audience, there's always people that will recognise them
@fickle basin Which one?
Yes, the games may be there, but to really recognise content from them, I'd expect to have to play them, which would mean buying them
I guess some people must buy asset flips, but I can't imagine it's many
@velvet sierra This channel is for discussion of the Marketplace, not for advertising. Released products go in #released
some random rock? not at all likely.
Awful Spider (or whatever the asset was called)? It's pretty often used.
Most definitely are not going around and instantly recognizing random assets.
There are some that got so mad about actual flips that they will peruse the marketplace to try to find assets you used. They'll take that information to your community forums (steam usually). They're not worth the time to satisfy, but worth having copy ready to go in response for the others who might chance upon the thread
Not sure as to context @fickle basin, but DM a mod about it
I was pretty miffed when I saw the shitty free stock Speedtree v7 broadleaf sample in PUBG
Was just an embodiment of the sheer "this is good enough" attitude behind that entire game
Lots of people loved it and it made a ton of money, so I guess it was good enough
This is the laziest rip-off I ever seen, they actually used the assets own promo videos in their kickstarter campaign, https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/playdreamworld/dreamworld-the-last-game-youll-ever-play
Aah, yeah, talked about it... they got some money already 🤷♂️
and the mannequin, I shit you not
Pretty basic question: Is there a best practices for organizing/importing marketplace content? I've been trying to move it to the appropriate location in my main project directory, but that has been quite a pain. The marketplace content has various incompatible layouts, I often don't want the whole thing (but am leery to spread out the content over multiple directories). I also find that sometimes that I still can't delete empty folders despite having run "fixup redirectors" which makes me concerned.
I'm attempting to follow https://github.com/Allar/ue4-style-guide
We'll see, might've been friends fronting money to make it look good
It is not crazy the one who offers, but the one who buys I guess.
I would so watch a silicon valley style sitcom of some indie dev studio trying to make the most cynical cash grab game ever
I've worked around this by putting all of my project's main content into a subfolder of its own
So that at least the Marketplace content is outside of that structure
So it's e.g.
Content
- -MainProjectName
- Marketplace Product 1
- Marketplace Product 2
etc.
That is how I have it as well. I felt like it would be better to actually move the assets to the appropriate folder (so for instance if I want foliage I don't have to check 5 different folders). Doing that has been a sufficient pain that maybe its not worth it.
@soft elm Not sure how to feel about it. They use my assets as well. Not too thrilled about them being used to scam people but not much I can do about it
Ah which one? I guess one could file a copyright strike against the actual use of the promo video without permission, maybe. But who has the time? 🙂
@soft elm If the bought it off the marketplace it's within their rights to use it so nothing I can do
yeah, the asset, but not your youtube video, if they used it
@soft elm Nope they didn't see to use my trailer since they added a bunch of crap to the demo map
ouch, that gotta sting
oh well, maybe Kickstarter won't pay out the money, there's been plenty of reports I think
I know developers have different tastes, but...
Am I being unreasonable in saying this violates 2.5.b Blueprints must be neatly laid out and make reasonable use of functions to organize the logic structure.? Bought with the intent to learn from it but I don't think there's any hope.
Looks kinda better than some of the Epic's showcases.
Ha ha. @covert furnace try to move one part at a time to a function.
Learn some object-oriented programming concepts.
You will get some ideas on how to improve.
That is a good point @thorny compass but this is a paid asset, I just expected it to be a bit more polished. @forest harbor Oh i'm familiar, I just wanted to see how they approached solving a problem in particular... if I can find it.
That's also high expectation of the marketplace. There are a lot of... "unmet expectations" for the quality of the MP assets (aka junk).
Fresh example: I did an experiment this sale and bought one 10-15$ range code plugin. That with the 50% discount. Looked at the code. Saw what I knew I will see. An UE dev with 1y of experience can make it for like 2-3 days. Experienced one, half a day.
Just curious, what's your point here.
An UE dev with 1y of experience can make it for like 2-3 days. Experienced one, half a day.
If this is about pricing, it's pretty much cheaper to get the plugin right. The developer hours cost more that what you paid.
So for those of you who have purchased Dungeon Architect, what do you think of it? I'm thinking of getting it. It's come a long way and it looks amazing
My point is what I wrote, sharing experience. Gives measure for price vs quality/effort.
Got it.
Another example: a twice more expensive code plugin, ~30$ with 50%. Good functionality, useful and kinda flexible, but code is a mess, hardly maintainable. However, as complexity compared to the my other example up, it is at least 10 fold. It can take between 2 weeks to 1+ month to do it on your own. Summarising it, the return of investment you can get from a MP plugin can vary like x5 times.
After a year and moving 150+ MP products into a Marketplace/ subfolder, I have totally given up on that, and I now leave everything in the Content/ folder. I use collections and favorites to navigate the resulting mess of a structure.
Summarising it, the return of investment you can get from a MP plugin can vary like x5 times.
Yeah! totally.
Yea I was thinking of doing that myself. It's too much a pain in the ass to move MP assets into sub folders. I think I'll just stick with collections and favs
I move to subfolders just after downloading/migrating it in the project. One by one, with a lot of patience. It's wonderful move or delete assets in UE4...
yeah, I have a blank project with only a folder structure of the project that I am working, I add the MP asset to it and move to the specified folder or rename it whatever, then I can move the folder through windows
I also try to delete through windows, I just check the reference viewer and bang shift+del in winexplorer
This seems like a fine product idk why would the vendor put such low price
https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/procedural-generation-tools
I also checked his stuff Do u think such prices he use is good profit strategy
He puts lowest prices yet still gets low ratings lol ( i feel bad)
Anyone know of a good flashlight animation product? I was hoping to find some animations for 3rd person such as holding a flashlight, running, etc. I guess I'll have to make some myself
@torpid dove download the advanced locomotion asset (is free), see how the animation layering works (ALS Overlay). you won't need to do an animation holding a flashlight for every movement your character does. you kinda mix already existing animations with poses
you can edit the holding gun/torch anim inside unreal (comes with ALSv4)
Ok thanks. I'll check it out. I feel like I'm jumping down a rabbit hole by opening up ALS lol but I'm sure it will all be worth it
Guys, any requests for music or sound FX packs (asking for a friend)?
I kinda always pity audio workers, like they are usually at the end of production for indies. So, not many people even reach the stage where they need sounds/music 🙂
I value good music but jeeez 95% of the music I've heard on the MP is really bad. Anyways I'd love more phenomenal post apoc and / or cyberpunk music packs. In terms of SFX I'd like really good magical or supernatural packs
good suggestion, thanks!
I imagine, 5-10 longer tracks and some loops maybe?
for themed music
hey guys i wanna ask when u publish lets say a new patch for your product from 1.0 to 1.1
do u just delete the old download or create a new one?
using the submit file update?
If it does not support all the versions as the previous one you create a new one, if it does support all the same versions, overwrite it.
like engine version?
currently all the product is on 4.26
so if like 4.27 come out,i need to delete the project file and submit a new one?
Cheers for deleting my post asking for genuine feedback
🤔
👌
?
came across too much like a "look at my stuff is on sale" in disguise, so it got removed.
👍 Didnt mention the product anywhere, or any links, but cheers. Was asking for feedback on a thumbnail, and explained how I thought it was an improvement on the old one
U wont delete u will have a new version of ti wdym delete
Not sure how that isnt marketplace relevant
rule 10 btw: If you disagree with a moderator's actions, please reach out to us privately instead of discussing it in the server.**
like okay from my understanding right now,if i wanna submit a new patch i have to use submit file update button right?but earlier luos said something bout overriding to a new version like lets say im on 4.26 if i wanna push a patch for that engine version,i have to use submit file update but if 4.27 comes out,i have to delete the old file, the one under it and submit new one right?
or am i misunderstanding the process here
(new to this so any guidance will be appreciated)
U wont delete , a new version would be added
By u
And both stay so whos using previous versions can use ur product
so if there a new update, ill just use the submit file update button?
No
khai, what kind of content is it?
bugfixes
If its an update by u then file update if its new unreal version of unreal as u said 4.27 then u add a new version without deleting previous version
ouh code plugins
code plugins work differently than anything else, no experience with those.
maybe @north stirrup or someone else who sumits/updates code plugins can explain that process.
ouh does epic have any guide there offer through their guideline page
i searched for it earlier but never find any information related to this
🤔
Yeah i think u will submit file update then epic will check and approve
its just a bugfixes update im tryna push
But no idea about plugins + i am a noob too
Looks simple tho , just submit file update
okay i will check the guideline page again to double check of this process before i submitted
I think ud only replace links
yea, and if you want add a note about the update.
what do u mean by replace link?
yeah im plannign to use readthedocs.io as my documentation and changelog tool soon
right now i have google doc file that tell the fixes but as soon as that readthedoc stuff is up and runnin, imma switch to that
Replace ur google drive link to the fixed version and submit
Then delete these drive links content after its released
Yeah
hmm alright
Once ur product is up in the market , u can delete the google drive files as ur file will be in epic servers
okay so the current process to submitting file updates as follow,1. delete the drive link 2. create a new version and insert the new link then submit
am i correct?
Yeah , as far as i know
okay
also the submit file update is ONLY use when new engine version is out and you wanna support that version right
@next badge @tawny torrent for plugins that is incorrect. Please don't give out the wrong advice.
this is how a plugin update page looks like
each version of a plugin can only support one version of unreal
okay so how do i submit a change to the current version
right now the markeplace build is on 1.0 and i would like to push the 1.1 build
is it for the same version of unreal?
yep
Yeah i said i have no idea about plugins but wouldn’t they just replace links?
ahhh alright i understand now
so you would use submit file update too right if a new version of unreal is out?
boshy to the rescue
What did i say incorrect tho 🥲
@next badge yes but instead of replacing a version, you would add a new one
😅
Managing code plugins is a PITA in Unreal. I suggest you only keep a few versions of backwards compatibility if you value your sanity
I don't get that, you said the procedure was wrong then gave the exact same procedure 🙂
I haven't worked with plugins, but as I understand it, the only difference is that each version of a product can only support exactly one version of Unreal. So you need a separate version for each engine version, otherwise it's the same. To update for the same engine version, you just replace the link. To add support for a new engine version, you need to submit an entirely new file.
For content packs, you can just test that it still works on the new version and then tick "this version of the product works on this version of the engine" - that's because content pack archives aren't engine version-specific, whereas plugins are
I'm sure you got this figured out, but looks like everyone started confusing your original question with adding more engine version compatibility for plugins. From what I understand, you simply want to update what you already have published.
All you need to do is click "Submit File Update", edit the version notes, and then submit. Your google drive link can even remain the same, just upload your new zip file directly over your old one.
yeah i think i screwed the question but i wanna know too when i wanna upload for new version updates
maybe i should add context to my question
😅
If you need any wrong advice, I’m here
Let's say I made an AI Spawner that I want to sell and I included some animals and animations which are free forever from the marketplace to show off the spawning system.
Is that allowed? I've seen ppl doing that.
That is definitely not allowed, and if you have examples of other projects that do that you should report them to the Marketplace team, because the Free Forever rights are not for redistribution
I can see why it would make sense though, Epic essentially takes on the packs that are free forever, and using Epic's own assets is fine as long as clearly separated in the project (AFAIK and have seen)
Wonder why there's the distinction in the license between first party assets and free forever ones.
Omg these 2 plugins look incredible. https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/gastools
https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/gas-companion
I think I'll buy Gas Companion. It would be awesome if Epic did something like these plugins or integrated one of them into the engine
GASTools is A Plugin Exposing Some Of The Utilities in the GameplayAbilities Plugin To Blueprint. This Tools also Provided Custom Ability Tasks to Make Your Life Easier!
👀
If epic would just plug the Artstation storefront into the Unreal Marketplace, that would be great thanks https://twitter.com/ArtStationHQ/status/1388171441867264005

i wouldnt mind them taking over/help out with/guide the design and workings of the marketplace
Wow that's awesome
Pretty much this.
God I'm so torn between Gas Companion and Able Ability plugin lol. DECISIONS!!1
Please no, in artstation you can buy things aren't allowed in the marketplace. If they merge it it's over.
Why so, the current marketplace is so limited. Epic restrict themselves with arbitrary rules. For an example, currently it’s impossible to public a single material or blueprint without including useless stuff just to fit with the marketplace rules.
Right... And now they're in the position to impose that on ArtStation if they desire. ArtStation is Epic now.
Not saying they will, but the option is there.
@forest harbor One example; Ryan Reos. I've discovered his job in artstation and I just falled in love. Not only he provides a full UE4 project with each character (by the way, it's the model integrated with the ALS with full physics already set up), but he provides licensed characters (obviously you won't use Tifa in a commercial game) and nudes. I'm guessing Epic it'll "clean" that marketplace (you know, family friendly, no nudes, just gore, violence and blood), and that's very sad. SDK Warrior already left out the artstation store for his models and migrated to cgtrader, don't know if it's related or not...
I think this depends on what Epic plans to do with ArtStation. There's a chance they don't touch it, and just let it exist under them.
But if they want to lavish it in Epic branding, we can expect restrictions.
For starters the licensed stuff would go before anything else in that case lol
No more Sonic OC 🤣
Even the artstation's store allow for group discounts or special offers if you buy determined assets. Another feature it'll blown away it they merge the marketplace.
I'm sorry, I can't see the "adquisition frenzy" of any "giant enterprise" as something good. And we'll see what happens with the Unity assets in that store...
I googled artstation recently and didn’t get a good impression
https://www.trustpilot.com/review/artstation.com
Idk about it but i hope epic makes it even better
Do you agree with ArtStation.com's TrustScore? Voice your opinion today and hear what 8 customers have already said.
My not-Googled impression of it that I got from friends is that it's like a LinkedIn for artists. Lots of portfolios on it.
Is it also like gumroad?
Artstation is the best hub for artists, as well as for buying resources (like brushes or references)
Games that come out have featured art drops over there with art and brrakdowns in the game, its a must have for any artist
ArtStation is like StackOverflow, but for art (+ nice market).
Lots of people asking questions about which shade of blue to use with uncountable color wheel tutorials readily available?
Haha, they have nothing in common in fact. They compare in terms of importance instead.
or gastools
😉
I like artstation even though I am not an artist. I love to see other peoples work there. Also if I cant find something I need in the unreal marketplace , I go to artstation.
I do hope if I download something from artstation it can be connected to the launcher. Hehe.
Would be cool if the sea of texture assets in the marketplace be transferred to artstation haha
In orbital-market still remains the april offer, it's sad to discover that the marketplace isn't. By the way, maybe isn't the smart of the ideas to launch a monthly sale just at the end of the month...
Orbital Market update the prices of all products at fixed time every 24h (at 2:00am GMT0), it will have correct sales tomorrow 😉
hmm
I think the marketplace wasnt working for me through the launcher because i was using a vpn
would epic code a thing where its literally frozen all the time if you're using a vpn?
@sturdy hawk thanks for the info, great job by the way, much better that the standard marketplace
Used VPN almost all the time, no issues with Marketplace via the launcher.
https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/extended-shading-pro
I am looking for other users of this asset. Get some experiences exchanged 🙂
not sure im asking the right place, but im looking for a load/save plugin that is as generic as possible. After looking on the ue4 marketplace i see two candidates. There may be other more relevant solutions to look into, but i haven't found them then. Can anyone here suggest which one you would pick:
usecase would be saving a world consisting of procedurally generated chunks of voxels + foliages and various more regular actors like players, ai and ressources
if money is not a problem, go with Savior
I like this one
does anyone know of a marketplace asset or tutorial on implementing a directional block first person melee system in Unreal? Just like block right, left up, down with slash left/right/from above and stab, with the collisions for that? Thanks for any help
https://i.gyazo.com/a1765a6cd3b1bd50660bd76e1de44a44.png
aww, i feel bad for that one person
Haha... I had a case where I procrastinated for few hours and missed the discount. Saw that on the Checkout page. Ofc, I didn't bought it 💪
guys i have a mega noob question, how do i reply to questions on my marketplace items?
there is no reply button even tho im logged in, i can see "ask a question" button on other peoples assets so it obv knows that this is mine
man the way i named my product f me over
before i named it GASTools and if i search the initial GAS,my product at the end of the page
now i put space GAS Tools, now its on the first page
cant believe how a space can f me discoveribility
🥲
O_o
deja vu
Where is the rest of the movie? 🤔
If i Rename a previous product and add (Lite) to it because i am releasing a new version
Will previous buyers beat me for the rename?
technically, you cant remove features after submission. It should be in the guidelines. If you are not removing features, renaming is not a big deal imo. For me, I'd only do this if its a huuuuuuge update. Normally people increase the price as they add more features.
In any case, you might want to give a chance to your existing customers to upgrade to your "retina pro max" version. Im not sure how others are doing this.
Anyone got any recommendations on some nice modest particle effects of things crumbling/light "explosions"? Dirt, debris and stuff
@viral crow Ballistics FX
Cubit Studios
i have the asset and it includes firearms, and mesh impact FX that can be used with swapped meshes for any smoke materials, and since they're physically used meshes, they will spread as (for eg. your smoke material pans/rotates, etc.) your materials function
not mobile intended assets (they likely can be tho) but the p[articles are meshes that have physics
Sick, I actually have that one in my library. Cheers!
yeah it was free for some time
Ah yes, that was it indeed 😄
Thanks for the response why i wont update the current version is to have my product shown in New Released to give it a boost
And to have price variety lite vs ultimate retina pro advanced mega version
i see. I started 4.26 recently for the improved Chaos since i need that function, Apex was far too limiting, though useful in small areas
would take more work, but importing a large Apex Fracture Mesh with Core and Chunks pre-built woudln't be all that difficult tho
world support and adding chunks to core is easy enough
maybe multiple small-medium for framerate
Just bought a character pack that said it was rigged to the epic skeleton, but here is the bone heirarchy. Doesnt even have a head bone or a spine_01 or _02. Literally cant retarget this to anything
is there a way to get refunds?
probably, with marketplace support
if it says "rigged to" and you didn't mistake with "scaled to epic skeleton"
Maybe you'll get the boost you want but it's a very dirty move in my opinion. There's a lot of very complete assets out there that just add funcionality and they just raise the price. I'm not talking about simple templates, things like "third person kit" or "dungeon architect" are today much expensive and completely different. If you do that and the original buyers notice maybe, it's logic by the way, to refund the original product or receive some kind of criticisim. Of course I'm talking from a buyer's perspective. Maybe try to create something more wide focused or create the "new" version with a "advanced pro whatever" name but don't touch your original asset. Very ugly indeed.
Oh wow , it’s that bad?
Alright never-mind won’t rename the current version and will just give the newer version a fancier name
Thank you
We have in new releases two high demon very very similar, both from different artists. A bug? Same artist with different accounts?
Who? 🤔
hey does anyone happen to have this old rain pack that's no longer for sale?https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/realistic-rain/
well, i just had a question about it
Is publishing a game on Steam with UE marketplace assests looked down upon or something?
A friend who started UE4 this week asked me and I said I had no idea
Not at all. Buying marketplace assets and putting them together with no additional original work and then publishing that on steam is frowned upon.
Making a unique game using marketplace assets is exactly what the marketplace is for.
if its literally an asset flip some people will notice, but I don't know if they will complain about the assets (which makes sense because you didn't make them). This kinda of thing can be overshadowed with good/fun gameplay or just a good story.
PUBG uses some assets from the marketplace
Pacify basically use this 2 assets https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/classic-mansion and https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/ghost-asian-female
never heard of this game until now but it looks really cool
too bad I don't have a VR set 🥲
ahh
I have motion sickness playing Half-Life 2 😂
I would probably barf playing this Boneworks
Wow endless runner. I should have waited haha.
Decent free stuff this month 🙂
Yeah, I have a little trouble seeing why you'd use the RPG stuff instead of GAS, but maybe its more beginner friendly
More foliage though... 😄
Strike a pose looks really useful actually. Just to fill in some gaps and additives
Low Poly one makes me want to make Sea Of Thieves done right 🙂
Again I had one of the free assets this month. I'm no longer buying anything :/
is the advanced rpg thing any good? sounds it to me but ive been learning game dev like a week
No clue 🤷♂️ On the other hand, if you are just week old, anything will be better than what you can do. Try it out.
As far I can see, it does not use the GamePlay Ability System (GAS) #gameplay-ability-system of Unreal and invents its own.
The framework it belongs in is pretty common to use and seems pretty good. I'd even say its perhaps between it and Able ability system that are the leading contenders on the market place. As mentioned earlier though I'd look into "Gameplay Ability System" (GAS) though as it's established by Epic. I think the free one this one might be easier to get started with if you're a beginner though and might be a good choice for that. Great resource to learn from regardless
GAS is best when you need more complicated multiplayer stuff
i've written a small plugin that i would give away for free, how would i get the plugin on the market place?
Hows may sales going?
Can i Duplicate my products blueprint and add new features to it and call it Beta ? Not to ruin the older blueprint I mean is beta features allowed
wow, some authors are working on a demo video since the fall of 2019. Mind you, animations being sold.
Im making a marketplace asset pack item. I got the zip folder but where should i upload it too?
wherever you want
is there another good place rather than google drive?
dropbox
ah ok
or personal server/storage stuff
does not matter much, just dont upload it to a public place hehe
@patent seal Why not Google drive ? i use it so i want to know your perspective against that
i only have limited space in google drive! in the end i uploaded it to gumroad for free as epic didn’t accept it
even making a new gmail wont solve the space problem?
O damn Why Epic Didnt accept it
not enough assets :< it was for a school project so it’s not like i can create more haha
it’s due tomorrow
but gumroad will do
My asset was refused for the same reason then when I contacted epic
They apologized and said they only looked at screenshots not the content , then they accepted it after rechecking the real content
Anyway goodluck!
is there a free pack available in the marketplace that contains trees? I can't find a mega scan asset and the open world demo pack doesn't work for mac
Check out project natures assets, permanently free. They have a Spruce pack 🙂
if its a school project its probably made with student version software, which makes the content you make with said software illigal to sell anyways.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
thanks
Depending on the software he used. No issues, if that's Blender 😄
Maybe marketplace is not the ideal place you are looking for. If you are trying to host your project, try to use GitHub.
Search the Market, sort by price. Also check out Quixel, Speedtree, xFrog even. These all should have free trees. The later might require some extra work in Blender tho. Can't say if any of these suggestions are compatible with Mac.
Thanks for your suggestion
helo everyone. does anynone worked/works with cesium plugin in unreal engine?
I just imported this asset pack and im confused as to why it looks so low resolution...
stylized?
It waits for nanite to become a thing.
you forgot to turn on RTX
Since Unreal has a bimodal licensing deal (exceeding $1M gross revenue or not), is there any way to do any kind of bimodal licensing for marketplace plugins? I.e. some smaller cost for most people, and some other cost for products exceeding $1M gross revenue? (Reading the terms, it seems like I can buy some $20 code plugin, check it in to Perforce in our project, and have a team of a hundred developers use it for that project?) Does the marketplace just not cater to that use case, and people who make things that might be useful for larger studios tend to sell direct?
Yeah, it's a pain
what is the website that allows sorting by rating for marketplace assets?
i remember there is one
I miss game development and working on my indie game 😦
U guys told me that market place can be more successful than making indie games :/ ( no one actually said that to me)
Well I for one sold at least 10$ in marketplace, versus a fat zero in my uncompleted indie games
Isn't the idea to work on marketplace products that you can also use in your own indie game? That way you can do both at once.
It may work, but maintenance consumes time as well, you may want to drop some features later, but you have to support them on the MP.
It's true
Though I guess you also get people testing parts of your game for you, and they're paying for the privilege! 😉
This true too.
why not just upload your whole game to the marketplace? i think complete game asset templates on the unreal marketplace are doing quite well
It's prone to low effort asset flipping though, so selling a piece of the puzzle is less frowned upon.
Who exactly is frowning? As a seller, I couldnt care less what happens with a pack after sale 💵💵
I noticed there are a lot of gun assets that are not for sale anymore in the marketplace (grayed out). Is this because of their similarities to modern weapons and their naming which gets a copyright? In this case, why don't the sellers just slightly modify the meshes or look and change the names?
Did you happen to have any examples? 🙂
https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/fps-weapon-pack-vol-01
https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/fps-weapon-pack-vol
I was searching google for other FPS pack for unreal engine aside from ironbelly and redhawk. But I think from deadghost he still has few products on the MP, and one product that was free.
I saw some unity assets as well but is currently pending to be sold here in UE like HQ FPS Template.
hmm, maybe it could be some intellectual property rights issue. If the gun looks too similar to the real ones, then you can't sell the 3d model as the gun manufacturer has the original design IP or something
but final games use real guns all the time, which is weird
Hmmm maybe like cod or mw pay rights to use those models..
them big gaming companies paying their way out, it's not fair 👀
hey, wut would be the best way to find assets in the marketplace with the attribution 4 commercial license?
Assets acquired on the marketplace all fall under the license specified by the Unreal Engine EULA
if i use a free asset/buy one, am i free to use it in a game i sell?
Assuming you are referring strictly to the Unreal Marketplace, yes - with some exceptions when it comes to Epic's own content packs like the Paragon assets
kewl...final question and i'll stop for a while...the soul cave asset...i think thats one made by epic...is that one i could put in my game and sell? ty for the help
i just need trees i can paint in my world is y i ask...and i believe the soul cave pack has trees in it
Afaik yes, but really you should read the EULA of software you're using for commercial endeavours
ty, and i'll keep that in mind 😄
Some products were flagged due to copyright concerns and creators were (and are) welcome to update their products—some opted to discontinue them.
@fleet egret in steam there's a lot of crappy games using soul cave and soul city.
ty
@merry field I agree with above. For a product, we have to address many areas since there are a bunch of different users. So, as the user base is growing it'll take a lot of time to maintain the product, support, tutorials etc.
Also, some buyers like to buy from people who work on the product full time. (Or at least not trying to sell something we took from a game)
For me, it's a no-brainer. I'm not good at making games, so I choose to make tools.
If you like making games a lot, focus on that 😄
I guess it depends on how complicated the product is and how many products you have overall
Oh sorry
np
Oh yes. That's for sure as well.
unity added a new feature to their marketplace:
https://i.gyazo.com/dd400d51b2502dfef336bbc833b16d82.png
yah, but do they have a glitchy wish list?
I kinda dislike the concept of launch discounts, as it can misled others
But...why?
Anyone aware of if we're able to sell assets on the marketplace that are addons to Metahuman? (e.g. clothing, hair, makeup, etc.?
The difficult part of it is, what is the asset including in terms of files. I can make my additions, but they inherently will need to interface with the materials of the metahuman in one way or another.
I doubt, even if it's just as part of the showcasing process, that I could include a metahuman within the package
They said they expect people will create new hair and clothing for Meta Humans on the Marketplace. That's what they also want. Asking marketplace team can clarify better anyway.
Hmm yeah, I was considering creating a scars and blemishes pack that can basically be integrated into the metahuman setup to add a bit more character to.. characters 😄
But it's very hard to release that without an example within the package (or even, a customized version of the metahuman skin material)
Just ask them first, you have NOTHING to lose.

this convo
Hello elemento_arts, I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had a negative experience with the UE Marketplace and I wanted to directly address several of the concerns that you raised. I’ve bolded your statements below, followed up by my responses. “There is no APPEAL BUTTON so that a neutral party can check they do their jobs correctly” While there is...
My observations regarding the marketplace team are that the standards are inconsistent.
web 3.0 forums be like that
We curate all submissions that come through and determine if it’s right for the UE Marketplace
e.g. if it's dirt textures
I am modeling an environment to sell
And it has irregular ground shape can i model the ground shape as one part or it have to be seperated to smaller parts
Lets say its shaped like this but even more irregular
Can't read the thread as I'm not a marketplace creator (despite my best efforts 🙄) - what's the tldr? Is it actually a constructive thread?
No 😄
It's fun to read but not very constructive
Honestly I do think "the review team needs to go away" is a decent solution to the current situation
Not moderating is preferable over keeping out quality content while allowing garbage, imo
What does it mean when people ask can it be replicated? I mean what would make an asset not able to?
replicated = multiplayer/online
I know thx , the end part of my text is the real question
So I'm looking for some interesting market place assets if anyone can show me some. Is there some melee combat system that instead of ultra realistic melee combat that still isn't really all that good anyway. Some kinda physics based combat that may or may not look goofy
A product called "ultra realistic melee combat" sounds like a hoax or a joke 😄
Yup
Everything i see something like that you still get ballerina moves for sword animations
https://youtu.be/K3tUZPvB80s
Honestly a more refined thing like this i would prefer to the million dark souls clone combat systems with spin attacks and clunky movements. Becuase this can actually be possibly refined to mimic the physics of an actual sword if you maybe do it right
PLEASE READ: This is an older video I felt like making public. Essentially my goal is to create a compelling and unique 3rd person combat system focused on swords, and other kinds of melee weapons. This is a personal project (one I've had in my head for years and years), and I don't have any intentions of bringing a combat system like this to th...
Even if it ends up being a bit more on the funny side
Like let's say someone who makes a combat system like this doesn't try to make it work perfectly I think it would still be fun
I'm just tired of seeing every dark souls clone. Is there anything that matches that description
Reminds me of Perforce
https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/giant-monster-animset
Unreal Engine
Giant Monster Animset in Animations - UE Marketplace

Hello guys. I liked these animations. Are there many exactly like this? Because after a long search I have only thrown animations fighting
Hi to all, I wouldlike ask you if any one used Sky Generator ? i tried to creat sky inndiferent ways, Using Volumetric Cloud , sphere sky and alpha image sky, I dont habe obtained excellent results, it also has to see that I am just learning to do blueprints
Hey guys , hows may sales going for vendors ? Its less active than april is it me or theres a reason behind that
it fluctuates too much to give proper data on it imho
Hey guys, what are you cant live without purchases from the marketplace? Looking to bolster my resources and wondered what people find invaluable. Mine have been the Advanced Framework - VR, Mobile & Desktop and the AI Behavior Toolkit?
for me its: node graph assistant
Il check them both out thanks for the recommendations!
Ditto
hey guys i wanna ask did the command for building plugin change?
i used this and now it said failed
i use vs2019
any ideas why it failed now?
I didn't know about this one. Thanks my work is 10 % faster now 😄
Hi Guys. Anyone use AtomsUnreal for crowds? I need to figure out if it will work with a VAT+Niagara hybrid approach for crowds, and also justify the steep licensing!👀
https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/5edc2bfd2ec64132a8337259772b22ec
Man I just downloaded and opened the City Environment Pack...and it's coming up on an hour to open and compile. And I have good internet and computing. Ooooo weee. That's slowing productivity down. 😉
...and it still has 17K shaders to compile. lol
--finshed. Looks great. Pretty large environment.
What's the difference between the Advanced Locomotion System Community version and the V4 on the marketplace? Any difference in features?
you should ask in their discord
I tried, no reply 😭
V4 "works" but I don't know if it is being updated, and its also single player only. The community version is Replicated and depending on the fork it can be full blueprints or cpp
How do you handle Marketplace assets within your Content Folder structure?
Till now I kept then in their Folder and if wish to modify assets, I copied them over to my Top level "MyGame" folder structure and used them. When I want to use Unmodified assets from the Marketplace, I just use reference the assets that are in the Marketplace top folder without moving them or copying them.
I thought about advance copying assets I wanna use and I wanna modify from the Marketplace content over to my top level structure.
Is that a better way?
Greetings)
Can you tell me what kind of projects are currently popular on the marketplace?

we dont have any public info related to that, so we cant tell
I just wanted to start doing a project for the marketplace, but I didn't decided that it would be really useful.
Is making "true fps" animation (guns/melee) still not profitable for animators here in unreal MP? Although a separate mesh for fpv and tpv is still the best, there is an increasing trend in using such method. I think there are also several shooter templates in the MP that is using such method, some with their own way of reducing head wobble but with few weapon animations suited to it, so you have to hire someone to add for certain gun animations. Some games I think RE village is using one mesh.
That's also a very broad question - are you talking blueprints systems, C++ plugins, meshes, particle systems, etc.?
People occasionally ask what other people would like to see on the Marketplace, but without any kind of voting system, it'll just be the opinion of a small number of people
I am a programmer, I use blueprint. I'm learning C++, but it's too early for me to do something with it
I think I should ask a different question. This will be my first project for the marketplace, where could I start?
As I understand it, Blueprint is easier to sell anyway (much less work to maintain BP than code plugins)
A specific thing to start with is harder - one method would be to build a system that you need for a project you're working on, then take that out and productise it
Hi! does anyone know if this website is safe?
https://thegamedevstore.com/
Anything that looks shady could well be shady. Buying assets via a time based subscription isn't something to consider, ever. imo.
i'm trying to get this one wich supposedly it's for free, but when you check out you need to add credit card info and it just looks way too suspicious.
https://thegamedevstore.com/v2/product/ue4-modular-mann/
Links!
There's even a Discord 👀
Decent responses though
The reddit posts feel legit
Maybe the site was just a bit poorly made
Agree it felt sus 😄
rejected from the MP
Seen that happen to really decent products too
Sadly
hey guys anyone here use readthedoc with mkdocs as their documentation?
i wanna ask for help
anyone here use it
Just came across this free piece of work. :D

hi. the marketplace has a lot of stuff, and its very hard to find something. any sugesstions for a noob on how to go at it? for example, i am trying to find the best inventory systems, so i can compare them and chose, but, when i type inventory system, wel, "lol"
Many of the marketplace listings provide demo video or playable demo for you to try out. Use them to make proper comparison and see if what you need is provided by the listing.
so, people really have to compare 100's of different posibilities each time they want to buy something? there is no way to see waht other peoples consensus is? ... :/
146 results on the word inventory. im gonna spend more time looking for a good one than doing it myself 😦
for me in term of fucntionality and features, these are my best pick for inventory
but i would still recommend building yourself
using epic asset manager system..build inventory on par with action rpg inventory system with asset amanager with the features of all of these other asset
thank you for sharing. i was thinking of buying one, matching the needed features, and then rebuild/adapt it. some of them have very high praise in the reviews
this is what i recommend the most because one thing 3 of this asset lack is asset manager integration for inventory memory management
sorry, im a noob... im not sure i get it? there is a part of the engine that handles items (assets) ? that is not used in a lot of those packs, which make them suboptimal?
look at arc inventory
Asset Loading and Unloading
Asset Manager
take a look at epic actionrpg sample to see how the tech works for inventory
i didnt even knew there was an item aspect in the arpg demo... i just see it now ><
and... skills? how far do you need to go in the demo to see those
Hey guys, I'm developing a set of tools for Level Designers by using Editor Script utilities and Editor Widget utilities.
There will be no code.
My question is, what category for the product in Marketplace should I choose?
Code Plugins or Blueprints?
okay, i never pressed the tab key... ><
blueprints
according to this, the marketplace made $6M in revenue in 2018, $8M in 2019
If we assume of the 12% cut 2% are spent in payment processing fees/other costs, that's ~$80M in 2019
I think you missed something there
Is anyone aware of in the Marketplace or elsewhere, a photo studio setup with c-stands, seamless backdrop etc similar to this?
https://youtu.be/0jeY2fpiq2M?t=85
On this latest installment of The Playard I am looking at how the proper use of film back (sensor size) can improve your shots and allow you to create better shots. I'll provide some examples as well and show you show you how to properly set the film back and where you can find the right information for the camera you want to use.
shotonwhat -...
You could use the search engine I made for the marketplace ;)
https://orbital-market.com/search?searchText=inventory+system
Hey guys, can someone help me a bit, im trying to upload something to the marketplace, but im having some trouble
I need help on packaging/exporting the scene and then uploading it. I have no idea how to do that, what files, what content
I'm pretty sure there's documentation on the marketplace portal. Don't have it on hand atm as I'm on mobile, but if you can't find it I'll have a look later today
I'm looking at some documentation, but it's not very clear for me and I don't want to fk up things, that's why I wanted to talk to somebody that has already done it
If you mess it up, you'll get a 'changes needed' thing back from the MP team and they'll tell you what to change
@fickle basin and then I put that whole zip file for sale ?
hm ok
Im also having a small issue becoming a publisher
they want me to enter Tax ID and stuff
and I have no idea what that is lol
@sturdy hawk Great search tool. I always end up using Google ie site:unrealengine.com/marketplace/ <search term>
Has anyone used this? Is it good?
HOW ARE U GUYS
Has anyone had a refund from the marketplace ?? And how long does the money take to get in your account?
Yes, and quickly.
For anyone looking to make stuff for MetaHuman for the marketplace (My suggested product was a modular scars/marks pack):
So, still possible, but basically massively user un-friendly
Looks like legal has stopped that 😦
Or at least made it very hard to do
Community is replicated and the ALSV4 from marketplace is singleplayer.
We don’t have plans at the moment for uploading assets into MetaHuman Creator. However, we can imagine people selling clothing on the existing Unreal Marketplace that would be compatible with the different MetaHuman body types (there are 18 of them). Of course, this is a living product, and things may change in the future!
i cant add to wishlist. 😦
@stuck glade any reason why that pack would rely on metahumans?
cant manny have those scars aswell?
he often takes a lot of beatings
I wanted to build it into the metahuman material, so that all you had to do was apply a modified material onto your existing metahuman, it wasn't a mesh based solution, only material and texture work.
make a material function
this wil also save you on updating ur pack when mehums get altered
or a BP that can bake em into the existing normal and dif map 🙂
Is anyone else not able to load the marketplace? its been down for me for the last 24 hours
it seems to be working when i open it in the browser, but i can only see the front page and the first page of results when i press any of the categories
and i cannot log in
no, still nothing
It's preparing to release
content 🥷
Can we marketplace sellers get an early release so we can make some new content for it? 😌
sure
@sturdy hawk see the new ui im in danger
There's still the spline in BP for Electronic Nodes and glossy headers for Darker Nodes :3 ! (And I don't think that they'll have full interface customization)
haha
but yeah, at least it's a good thing for everyone that they updated the UI 😉
The new BarAndLive asset in the marketplace it's very very cheap, where's the trick? In the video looks very nice for an almost 5 € asset pack...
You can load Blueprint-only content from the Marketplace straight into UE5 and it just works. 🙂
Well, the first thing I tried with UE5 was to import my product in there and see if it would work - it did
Do you think the early access of ue5 will hold on / slow down people from buying assets currently?
No.
Alright hopefully
Alright , i have no idea about ue5 yet i will youtube the new features / interface , and all
Imagine someones plugin becomes a feature in ue5 😮
Oh , since when is the early access out?
I think i passed by them with ps5 games or smth before but , I will recall once i watch some people digging in youtube
All i remember is better lighting
PowerIK got acquired and will be integrated into the engine.
ALS creator got hired as Technical Anim staff for UE5.
The best of the marketplace might be already part of UE5 without realising it.
wait, it's in 4.26 though right?
all these ik solutions 🙂 the snapping thing in control rig seems damn cool though although I'm not sure how to use it dynamically 🙂
Im getting this error
Anyone know how to fix it?
I have more then enough on my card to buy this product
I guess this should go in news:
https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/blog/discover-thousands-of-products-up-to-70-off-during-the-unreal-engine-massive-marketplace-sale
Also if you want to browse the marketplace faster and find the most popular assets, check Orbital Market out:
https://orbital-market.com/search
Ah, I know that page. One guy from this server is making it.
I heard some rumours of that, but I don't believe the person exists
Hey, is it possible to publish stuff on marketplace for UE5 early access? Or we need to wait until full release?
As usual, the option for the new version won't appear until it's officially released
thanks!
we have also been asked to not mention "ue5 ready", or "supports ue5" kinda stuff on our pages and such

How do i join the sale
If you're a marketplace creator, you should have received a mail a few weeks ago to join in
(now is a bit too late)
I'm about to go broke with this sale.
I kinda need placeholder animations... 💸
I really wish Epic would provide Discord API for marketplace asset ownership - doesn't need to give away anyone's details and could just auto verify purchases (and if they're refunded, take it away)
Don't
Can verify by having them post a unique code as review/question (it has a little key icon if they own it) - except this is tedious and wasteful time-wise for both creator and customer, and doesn't register if the customer refunds
There's really little excuse to have no Discord API at this point where they can link Discord -> Epic Marketplace and support servers can authenticate purchases through it without giving away any customer information such as email, name, and so forth. And then if the customer refunds they'd lose the verification in Discord too.
Its main form of support, very common for creators to build communities around their products, my server has 400+ and counting
@onyx flower I hope you can pass this on because it would be a huge help in fighting piracy
unlike that rpg-kit that forced people to 5* their pack to get access to their discord :p
its been reported, lets keep it at that.
For the dead, good or nothing.
Offt. nasty
That would most likely not happen until Discord provides an enterprise license
I do like the idea, however
You need to do that to access documentation as well. That's very ugly practice.
but i guess it's fine if not forbidden
that's gonna be implemented for sure
So now that the rating system has been included what else is everyone looking to get out of the Market Place. I think we’re at a good place where we as a community can lay out our wants and desires for how the Market Place can best place to buy and sell assets. For me the biggest issue is the lack of control that creators have over prices and u...
we just have to keep asking Marketplace Team to verify it for us and they'll just say ENOUGH! and give us the tool to do it 😄
That certainly goes against the spirit of the rules, if not the letter.

This includes instructing users on how to download, install, and/or integrate any required third party software that can't be redistributed directly via a product's files.
@fickle basin Congrats on your release btw
Yeah I'm totally not dissecting it right now
you have a lot of time to work things out. UE5 won't be ready for production too soon
You've got time, and so does Chaos
Damn, just watched your trailer for it. This is the first time I've actually laughed in joy at a MP video. Awesome work man, hope it sells like hot cakes for you!
Just the showcase
@fickle basin Add me I can't DM you
When do u think we will have ue5 released , and package / upload our market place assets for it
when ue5 releases
I assume we won't be able to update our marketplace plugins for UE5 before 2022.
probably not during Early Access. If it moves to another stage like Beta, then we might be able to do so
quite a few people are in the middle of getting plugins to work in ue5 i know someone who got ALS working, and another who got brushify etc
and someone got acf to work
That's impressive. I can't even get ALS to do what I want it to do in UE4.
I'm starting to compile a list of plugins and how to get them working in UE5: https://www.shadowfinder.com/ue5-plugin-list/

It is borderline addiction btw. You buy stuff which you "might" need as you like them.
oh this is light spending, i spent 5k 5 years ago to study them, it was a pain, because it was before they had a cart
I really was going to spend more, I like some of the textures and what not, but I'll hold off
but it's alright too, gotta support people for doing good work
I don't know if anyone else has this problem with the marketplace on spending tons
I have definitely spent a fair amount on some kind of defunct plugins but nothing nearing 5k
Synty's on sale too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcHaQRKuQqo This packs nice, i'll have to go through and buy everything when I get more money, lol

I try to avoid to purchase something that seems cool but I know I'll never use it. I mean, I'm a solo developer, with family, so my time to play with UE4 it's almost inexistent, specially knowing that even the simplest feature it's very time consuming. I have so many templates I know I'll never use it. That's why right now I buy very few things, and always with discount. If you're gonna use the assets it'll be well spent money, otherwise it's, in my opinion, a problem to spend so many money.
i'm into the whole stylized thing at the moment, so I just focus'd that and got a bunch of goodies
I eventually want to use all of syntys stuff, but I'd need time to do that
Gotta stay healthy somehow
I used to spend a lot more on the marketplace than I do now. Probably around 2k over 4 years
Primarily to inspect and learn rather than use them directly
yeah I like that, but I also like some of the art and thing that artists deserve some money.
Cute bears, how can I not resist getting bear assets!
Epic being slow to Check my submission
When was that
I didn’t experience that
Maybe its for
Complex assets
But lets say i am a noob with 2 products , cant talk much about experience

@fickle basin, :8ball: Outlook not so good.
Is the marketplace just busted? Trying to buy an animation set and every time i click something in the marketplace in the launcher it loads a broken version in my browser, I shop in the browser and i can't search or go to later pages or add to cart or buy now
It's fine here. Just the occasional error 404, re-login or hanging on page load. Nothing extraordinary than the normal (i.e. kinda broken).
weird. I've tried on 2 different computers so far
In launcher it looks like this
and on the web it looks fine but I can't do anything
Tried in 2 browsers as well
Ehm... never use the Launcher, except for download/install of plugins.
Or okay use it, if it works, but I try to avoid it all the time.
“Summon Divivor”
What reply
I deleted it as he poofed
https://twitter.com/phyronnaz/status/1398781781625638913 some info about releasing on github vs marketplace, might be useful to some of you 🙂
@_benui Some stats for my plugin over the last two weeks:
https://t.co/6q8TzcP6C0: 515 unique visitors, 22 unique cloners
https://t.co/mv1Ju0ngJu: 1778 new downloads (unique users)
and that's on top of an existing 100k free users. When you first release you get 1k+/day
I wish marketplace had a "hide this item" button which moved the marketplace item to a hidden list that could be viewed later to unhide it if neccessary. It'd make wading through MP way easier.
And, also a "don't show owned" filter.
I can't seem to add anything to cart from marketplace , is it messed up right now?
hey guys so i wanna ask im doing a verification with buyers posting code in either question/reviews.after they done and i verify them, how do i remove the review/question?do i need to contact epic to remove the review?
or how u guys usually do verification?
@next badge I ask them to remove the review aferwards
@waxen trout You don't ask at this point. You have to get invited by epic games directly to sell on EGS.
never say never they say
Make one first :P
There’s literally NO WAY I missed the modular house asset that was free last month...
That’s exactly what I need for my project
😖😖
I can't load any marketplace page or sign in to marketplace, going crazy here 😦
WHY THIS HAPPENS NOW , i am almost publishing
Happening to you too?
I see on the forums its happening to a bunch of people
Works for me but its sad to know that i hope its fixes
this is what I get
doesn't let me sign in
and if I sign in on the main unreal page and go to marketplace it signs me off
What's the difference between Power IK and Dragon IK? They both seem to do the same thing.
can anyone help me use procedural landscape ecosystem? Im having trouble
It's a regional thing. I seen someone else commenting on it, but it's up & running for me too. I'm in OCE.
No one can help me lol
You check out its documentation or contact the creator? http://gkaradayi.com/2017/08/19/how-to-use-ple/
This channel isn't for marketplace asset support, so you won't find much help here beyond what I just linked you.
K thanks
I keep on having my content on the UE4 marketplace published to torrent and other despicable websites. What kind of action can be done in order to protect the work we do with UE4, because obviously this is a deterrent to spend time producing content.
Not much. You can write to Epic's Piracy mail, and you can try to DMCA stuff yourself. In practice neither will achieve much
Pirating customers are not generally paying customers, they are looking for alternative methods because they're not interested in paying
Well they did get the file from somewhere in the first place.
This is executable code. It would be relatively simple to tag it so that the source can be tracked down and legal actions taken.
Go for it. Good luck and have fun enforcing 🙃
This boils down to how much effort is Epic willing to do to protect its content creators.
I can't do this on my side. Code gets compiled by Epic.
Goes back to this
Also I don't know about you
But I don't buy plugins that don't have source code available
If you want to compile all your plugins into static libraries filled with black magic, that's something you can do (already)
Hi, I am currently reading Marketplace Guideline as I’d like to put my plugin there, but from the formulation it’s very unclear to me if I can upload a plugin without uncompiled source code: Based on this text, it seems like when uploading plugin, Epic will compile the plugin on their side before distributing it, but it’s absolutely unclear...
Thread talking about this
Makes no sense they are obligated to protect you. As with any other market, once bought the product is out of your hands.
You can do this, you don't need to provide all source code
Just the stuff required for the build
But serious customers aren't interested in products without source
Ok. You do realize though that I'm asking what kind of support does Epic provide to its content creators and you're telling me good luck in doing this by myself. I don't want to do this by myself. I will because evidently I have to, which takes me to my original question: is there any unified legal support from Epic doing this kind of stuff, or no.
I didn't say they were obligated to. I asked whether there was some support.
Again though, it's a never-ending battle
You take down one website, the people behind it copy-paste the entire thing to another domain and host
of course, I have courses from udemy stolen as well. I am not new to this.
they do have some small amount of support for marketplace piracy issues, but it's difficult
You're going to hurt your paying customers to try and prevent customers that won't be paying you anyway from getting their hands on the product
I am not hurting anyone. I am not conceiling code.
ultimately it's just a game of whack-a-mole, and the perpetrators are going to be generally untouchable anyway
If you're shipping static libraries instead of source code, you're definitely hurting your customers
Do you happen to know where I can contact piracy?
Yes and no. It is a game of whack-a-mole, might as well have them do the effort and sometimes catch one that is in a country where copyright will be enforced.
that's why a group effort from epic can have results.
thank you.
I mean
I am not, it was your suggestion, thank you, but I don't want to do it.
It took a decade for the trial against The Pirate Bay's owner to actually get somewhere
These aren't straight-forward litigation processes
lol, happened nothing at the end.
Even if they can figure out who it is and identify them
so why stop? the battle should continue.
It's not gonna do anything
Epic won't do anything more than taking things down
Because the investment isn't worth the returns
not theirs, indeed. But their community, maybe.
Epic will file DMCA notices where possible, but that's usually as far as it goes
better one from EPIC legal dept than from me as individual.
I kinda doubt there will be any result. I mean, host will take down the asset. Wait a bit, upload it again. Or maybe just upload it somewhere else. Anyway, try.
Assets should be nft-ed, kek
what usually happens is the web host will terminate the account of the user, effectively taking down the website
but they just create another one at a new URL anyway
afaik, these are hosted on file hosting sites. Sites take down the asset/user, but the user just makes new account, uploads again.
ah, yeah, in those cases the file gets removed, the user account terminated.. then the user just creates a new account and reuploads it
It looks tiring to pursue such fight.
at the end of the day it's not worth it, the people uploading it and downloading it were never your customers anyway
it is of course a neverending fight, probably with low results.
but not doing anything is at par with the problem.
I have written to Epic, thank you.
Yes, and no.
Are assets that are taken from the marketplace stored in the cloud?
if you mean the ones you add to your vault, no they are stored locally, on your machine
Ah, so maybe it isn't so smart to add tons of free assets?
They are stored locally, if you "download" them. There is a cache in your machine for downloaded assets. You can delete them from there. All done through the Launcher. Just look at it.
Oh. Right, that makes sense.
Yea I just got a mail from support. They say many people in BC are having the same problem. Hope it gets fixed before the sale is over 😦
Totally.
are you content creators?
because quite honestly i’m surprised of your opinion.
EPIC imho should support its content creators and provide at least some fighting back mechanism. These should not be economical considerations for a company that has huge ongoing investments and seems to cherish its developers and creators.
are you gonna be able to “win a war” against piracy?
of course not.
could Epic provide _some _ unified front and support for their creators?
of course they could.
i’ve seen it done successfully for a bunch of assets that are part of workshop creations for Arma3, for instance.
Bohemia Interactive’s discord has a legal channel that helps with these and other matters, and with all due respect they are no Epic.
so I, for one, think that feeling part of a “family” of developers/creators with some Epic support would be a welcome addition when, after you spend so much time in your creations, you find them pirated (which means that someone, somewhere, actually bought your asset and shared it)
don’t get me wrong, btw
I’m not only certain, I KNOW that people at Epic are doing amazing work and also have these topics in mind, and probably are confronted with them daily.
and i think these people should have more resources.
And what do you actually hope to achieve? The people who are pirating it weren't going to buy it anyway, they are probably young people with no money, or poor people who can't afford it.
They're probably never going to make anything that reaches completion, much less sale. And you'd hope that if they do get that far, they'll realise what a terrible legal position they're in, and will legally buy the assets before trying to sell the game.
Furthermore, some people do pirate things to test them and then buy them if they like them, using the piracy as a sort of demo.
I don't like the idea of people pirating my stuff and then putting it into games which they sell to make money, but other than that, I'd rather people are using my stuff than not, even if they didn't pay for it.
@tired rune I am a content creator and all my best selling products have been pirated and shared online. And the result sales wise is, no change? I do get the occasional ass-hole that tries to sneak in my discord server and ask for support for pirated stuff, but I usually sniff them out quickly and ask for proof.
Then I boot them. As for piracy, I do believe there is no point. and you just end up playing whack-a-mole with your product popping up in mirrors and file share hosts all the time so you are literally spending valuable time that you could spend developing new stuff and supporting your existing clients, thus bringing in more money, you are spending it fighting proverbial windmills that have no positive impact on your bottom line.
if you do it alone, indeed. which was kind of my point.
anyway, thanks for feedback. i won’t fight this battle, clearly i’m the only one here expressing this need.
I reciev April’s payments on what day of june? 15th?
around that date yeah
Damn alfffffffffffffff , thought its at first days
you can't afford 10$ per month?
It is adobe man, even 1 cent is too much
Finances aren't the same for everyone around the world
10$ is crazy amount in some parts
you can purchase 7 bigmacs with 10usd in Brazil 😛 and Voxel Plugin costs 2 months of the minimum wage, while in US it costs only 35% of a month salary 😒
I'm gonna reach 1000 assets again. does the limit of 1000 assets on the launcher still exists?
Pretty sure it does
Epic be like, who on his mind will have 1000 assets. Clearly, they don't know about the asset collectors (similar to how ppl collect post cards & coins).
😭
@tired rune Sorry to bring this up again, but, I hear what you say, my entire game design got stolen, which I stopped doing that particular game, it sucks, the more effective thing you can do to 'combat it', is take a mostly useless legal route.
Which is time you're wasting, part of what you might be doing is adding in comments "Thank you for buying" or release the pirated one yourself with comments that say "This is a pirated copy, if you like what I'm doing please support my work on patron or buy it off the marketplace, thank you".
This method of "attack" actually has studies showing that people will be more inclined to buy, kind of guilt them into it, remind them you're not a big company but just a random guy.
Next maybe talk to your original buyers and ask if there's any updates they want, spend the time updating your content rather than playing wack a mole, then if a product is good people will word of mouth, you can't see piracy as a negative or it's going to be a negative, you use it to your advantage, it's free advertising.
I know I promote people to get UDS since he did that recent huge update, I buy all of my marketplace stuff cause it's good, and I'm lucky enough to be in a position to do that, but I have a lot of assets now and I'm probably a dead weight customer as I don't really generate you anymore income.
I hope that makes sense, my intent isn't to be a piracy advocate, but, turning negatives into positives, it's all about that mindset, you don't want to tick your paying customers off and cause them to turn in to pirates as well, much like (Oh that other tool was rubbish and hard to use, I'm going to use this other one instead, type of thing).
Another thing too, if you don't have many sales, piracy and word of mouth should be more valuable to you also.
This type of thing is what I'm talking about, this is how you want to treat piracy, IMO.
Which is time you're wasting, part of what you might be doing is adding in comments "Thank you for buying" or release the pirated one yourself with comments that say "This is a pirated copy, if you like what I'm doing please support my work on patron or buy it off the marketplace, thank you".
Can't recall the game, but a solo dev released his game on Steam and on Pirate Bay. His reasoning was pretty much what folks have said above. As a result he had a 400% increase in sales on Steam etc.
spend the time strategize and improving rather than hunting legal crap, cause time = money, and legal stuff is not going to generate money for you and might hurt your rep too.
Pixel piracy
Apparently I'm not clear enough 🙂 Besides releasing my own pirated copy, I already do all of the above. I keep on updating my code, I concentrate on that and on my existing clients.
I don't know how to say this differently: what I was asking is to have a united front from EPIC, so that when creators get confronted with these issues we can all leverage a player which is bigger than any single one of us separately. Instead of "whack-a-moling" individually, that is (and now we have a verb 😄 )
Yeah I hear you, but again, the costs for that could be better spent elsewhere though, I hear the marketplace is in dire need for a revamp for you content creators, what do you make btw?
in the marketplace, this -> https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/simple-procedural-walk/
@tired rune I wish my stuff was good enough for people to pirate, I can't wait for me to dump this asset flipper out and people pirate it, it's going to be so disappointing.
$50au is pricey I can see why it gets pirated though, teenagers won't have that kind of money, they're probably your pirates, maybe reaching out to who has pirated and find the age group, maybe offer a student discount or something, or put it on 50% student sale, and target those pirates to support you, that's what i'd do to try and fix the piracy issue.
you have to also think about people like me that would just learn to do it themselves so i'm not your target audience, so there must be a common demographic pirating it I would say, that's just a guess though, shame you can't track who's pirating
thank you for the help @mellow forge 🙂
wonder if it was possible to have epic create a system that if you use a plugin, it has to register with your account before you can cook your project
@tired rune yeah no worries, I like to attempt to help people
hope i gave some sort of closure with this, thinking like a pirate is generally how you combat it, if you use to pirate, what would make you spend money?, I freely buy stuff now because I like to support what people do
Understood. Will revisit my thinking. BTW it's not that I'm angry or anything.
I think most people were just worried you were wasting time on something that, let's say "irked" you rather on something that you enjoy given that anti piracy efforts for decades haven't made any impact. 🙂
Yea I don't get angry at people pirating, but I really hate the cheek of people trying to waste my time by asking for support on pirated items
And I get even angrier at that one guy that resold my 3d stuff on turbosquid!

What are some good flashy melee combat animation sets to look at for an action RPG? - swords (one handed / two handed)
frank has cheap (therefore slightly overused) but superb over the top anims
Frank Climax? thanks will check it out
Yup, this works, that's the OTP anims I was looking for. Thank you!

@snow plaza Mixamo's really good
it's advised to also use this https://www.reddit.com/r/unrealengine/comments/dbq8w4/free_tool_to_retargeting_mixamo_animations_for/
Huh, the second hit for one of my products is a pirate page... which tells people it's only for trying it out and they should buy it if they like it. I guess that's a measure of popularity.
when did they add a 9k char limit to the description?
thats waaaay better hehe.
https://i.gyazo.com/2f7c8587b44f102bf4ded4a299ee2ffa.png
I insist on the limit being 9001
so its over 9000?
exactly
worth a request on the forums XD
Heh, yeah. I'd imagine it's all the same site always.
But the "do actually buy this" message is nice, regardless
No doubt to comply with ISO *** 9001 *** the international standard for a quality management system 😄
YEP
pog
this month permanet free collection is easy building system v8
thats actually pretty good
Finally, stuff I don't have. And don't need :/
The modular robots is so nice
I thought I did not get last month's free assets when I saw new stuff on the home page.
Is it only me or when i open unreals medieval village project I get very bad fps. My specs are i5 7400 and gtx 1060 6gb 16gb ram
Isn't permanently free the deathknell for future updates 😦
So guess easy building system wont get any future updates then and he'll concentrate on easy rpg
Could any assets that were previously on the monthly free ever come back to be free again?
dont think so
Any suggestion about shooter game FX?
Hey, you can't fight with piracy. Even Microsoft couldn't do that.
In my country almost all personal computers run with a pirated copy of windows.
MS tried to do some legal work, but it didn't work.
But they found a way to take back what they want from corporates.
So, technicaly piracy is good for them. Now, companies don't have to train those employees.
The same story goes with Adobe & other suites.
Here's what I do with my products. I published all of those on GitHub with a non-comercial license.
There are still a bunch of people who got the product from GitHub & later buy it from the MP.
In our Discord, I don't even ask whether where they got the product. Some of these people who got the product from GitHub help others by answering questions & engaging with discussion. I know some of them to share my tutorials.
So, there's no point in fighting piracy, ignore it, or use it as a marketing tool.
Yo ho ho and a bottle of run
I think they did a couple of months. I didn't sure the exact time though.
Before that, I had to use bit.ly for all the links.
is it OK to use Unreal tournoment assets in a marketplace package ?
I have seen many MP packs use ShooterGame assets
i have a 3080 and it wont even load
@plush scroll no, you can basically only use UT4 stuff in UT4
@tidal fog xD are you trying to open it in ue4 or ue5?
UE5 is released and the marketplace content “free” is featuring low poly robots?
Does the marketplace choose whom to put
Or do the creators request
@marsh haven I don't see the issue? The marketplace team chooses.
I mean, it's a UE5 preview, not a release, and 100% of the marketplace content is intended for UE4
I'd imagine around the actual release, there'll be a division on the marketplace for UE4 vs UE5 stuff
but for art, is there anything special to make other than nanite meshes?
not even that. You don't make nanite meshes, they are just regular meshes, but you can use higher poly ones and remove lods
ok. is there anything special to make other than regular meshes that are higher poly and without lods and also advertised and setup as nanite meshes
its not "nanite meshes", nanite is a feature of UE5 that handles complex meshes without losing performance
I think you would just state that your mesh is ultra high poly and you didn't bother to reduce the polygons or making any LODs
as a seller the best thing you can do IMO is keep making assets for UE4 because UE5 has retrocompatibility
I put this together in my project a long time ago and was wondering if anyone recognizes it from a pack as I can't figure out where I got the particle effect from
I've been looking for 4 days

I don't remember where I got it from at all. HDD broke down back then so couldn't make a backup or anything. I thought it was from Infinity Blade at first but it doesn't seem to be part of its effects pack
That was in 2018 so the asset should've been out by then
i dont recog it as one from the infinity blade effects
My 2nd best bet would be your volume 1 particle toolkit, which looks amazing, but it's not in there either
its def. not hehe
probably Paragon
might be. you can check the source location of the files, which often has the old local drive url, that might be a clue
generally the textures keep em
thats often a lifesaver 😂
💥 😄
