I thought people choose to set there product free for a month to get more ratings

I saw a post on the forum from a guy who has his asset free fro the month and he got like 10k download per day on the whole month !
I guess the 50k free downloads figure was from a year ago

So let me ask the correct question , can making my product free improve selling later on , so i get temporary more comments and reviews then make it priced again?
every once in a while you'll get an email where you can submit your content to a list, and if the marketplace team picks it, you'll be contacted to sign some stuff/get paid/yada
but oddly enough they tend to pick the same kind of people their work instead of being more random in their pickings.

Not to be an ass, @tawny torrent, but I think you're massively underestimating the work and skill that goes into successful marketplace assets. From what I've seen of your work in this server, I don't think you're at the point where you'll make any interesting amount of money selling that work. You can definitely try and submit something and see if it gets accepted, but to go "I will make something where there is a gap in the market and roll in money" is a massive misunderstanding of how this works
I respect your opinion but I wouldnโt say this discouraging text to any beginner to market place , I know i will start tiny and can improve myself over time then maybe try to fill in gaps and make respectable profit

It is all about how you market your product. If you just release it on the MP and let it sit, you won't get anywhere. I had to think hard about what keywords people would search for and base my entire product on those keywords. Now it is easy to find Universal Monster and I have been averaging one sale per day since I released it. Also will be in showcase starting March 16th. ๐
I'm just saying I think you're underestimating how difficult it is to be successful in this business
I also chose to integrate it with a currently very popular asset, ESRPG. That brought in a lot of people as well.

tried as well, i don't like wasting people's time. i require verification just when i have to send some files. I just from time to time ask them to don't forget to write a review. if they do it, that's fine, if they don't that's again fine.
I think every creator should do a verification process. It is necessary for support channels. General channels get general question and support channels get specific.

Users can always edit their reviews/questions. The last step in my verification process says to edit or remove the verify post, but not everyone follows it.
I love the one 4 star review I have though. It is literally just their discord name for verification. Doesn't bother me (too much) though, hehe.

ESRPG has actually been released last year and made a good amount of sales before being hide from the marketplace by the marketplace team for whatever reason
(like miscommunication, or something, I don't know...)

Start with 4.21 compatibility or something
But then the publish portal would limit me to 3 versions
if you're only doing art most likely you only need the 4.21 version, just open the project in later versions and check for errors. if there are none, all is good. when new versions come out I just open my source project, check, then just tick the new compatible version
It depends on the type. Plugins are last three versions, any other kind of asset can have any number of versions
Best to develop in the oldest version which supports all the features you need
But you can probably take that too far
Last couple of versions should be fine, e.g. 4.21 or 4.20 or something

The rules are:
If you made more than $100 in Month A, you will get paid around the middle of Month C
Not exactly, you won't get paid until they owe you $100
If you make $60 in Month A, you won't get paid at all in Month C; if you then make $50 in Month B, you'll be paid $110 in Month D

A question to all the creators; what do you think of the offers? The sales and event sales? Let me explain my question; I've a lot of whishlist because I know, soon or later, it'll be on sale. This system says that you shouldn't pay full price because it's a matter of time to see the 50% label at side. I guess some sellers raise the price just for that but isn't the sales a way that devaluates the initial price? That's guessing that almost all sells are while the asset it's on sale. Or I'm wrong?

sales are constant anyway, the biggest numbers are always on big sale events regardless if my products are discounted, because of the bigger traffic and views

You can put it on the the asset page I think. At least I saw recently an asset page where the author was promising it will never go as Free for the Month. Therefore, I think you may put something like this too? At worst, the MP can tell you to remove it.

If it is a file update, they do review it again. For my update, they actually sent me the email a few hours early and had me worried so I replied letting them know I didn't see the update. They then replied back apologizing and pushed it through.

Sorting by sales is not an indicator for quality. Not at all from what I have seen. Nevertheless, quality in general goes down rapidly as quantity increases - true.

I was curious if the unreal marketplace has an option to check the history of assets you bought, assets you made questions or/and made a review, locate the specific question/review. It would be cool to check them out immediately instead of manually checking them one by one and sorting other questions or reviews. I have a tendency to forget giving reviews after using them or revisiting some assets.

@maiden cedar close combat fighter, even without inventory, it's one of the best melee combat system in my opinion. Melee and shooter combined there's nothing, with souls like theme the action rpg combat it's freaking good too. The inventory it's one of the easiest thing to add to any game. If you don't know much about UE my advice it's not to use any existing system because you'll get frustrated soon if there's something you want to modify.
With guns third person shooter kit it's very good, but also hard to modify without a general knowledge.
Iโm using easy survival right now for a more medieval style. But hard to find a complete shooter type like that system is. Because I want to do a single player sci-fi shooter, just no real complete kits out there
Third person shooter have a lot of features, and I guess it'll be at 50 % in the incoming sale event. It's really amazing.

Yeah, last update is just the date you actually submitted the new file to be reviewed. If the file already exists, the date never updates, so only new files will trigger the updated date info.

I think I got >10 sales thanks to the recent partnership I did with EasyRPG
After showing how Universal Monster can easily integrate into a system as complex as Easy Survival RPG I have had consistent sales for a good week or so now. Integration of assets is key to developers. They don't want to spend hours/days/weeks trying to get 2 products to work, just to find out in the end they are not as compatible as initially thought.

It is a pretty simple strategy. Invest in another developer's product that you believe has potential or is already popular. Develop integration between the two. Market the integration.
This does not mean steal their concept and incorporate into your own though, hehe.
You want to entice the user to buy both products.

Personally, I don't see it as rude, but probably best to not just straight out ask for sharing copies, first start with the simpler question of asking if a collaboration would be profitable. Then go on later to ask how to accomplish such a collaboration.

Usually you give the product through the marketplace, so the MP team would see you asked them to give it for free
there was some drama not so long ago about this. Someone gave away a plugin, the person that gave the plugin away decided to not update the plugin. The person that received the plugin decided to create the same plugin, part of the code was reused and Epic Staff had to resolve this feud.
Surely you'd still have the email or whatever where they gave you the link?
Plus, in this case, the person using it wouldn't be planning to include it in a project or anything, they'd just be looking at it for reference

I did some previous work on web related stuff. What I lacking most is the dependencies. It would be awesome if we could reuse existing assets as dependencies. If someone could do that with a Netflix like revenue model, that would be awesome.

Yeah, you really just need to explain how it is not specifically Art content. It really seems like the marketplace team is used to dealing with majority of art assets, so I'm sure they get into the bad habit of "judging a book by its cover".
I replied to them with 3 long emails, each time after a rejection, then finally, out of nowhere, they took a previously denied product submission and just went live with it, haha.

Anyone know an easy automated way to verify users actually own your product and didn't steal it? I've recently found out that people have been stealing my product and receiving help from me and others on my discord. ๐ฆ I was told to lock the support discord behind a verification check and ask for receipts but that seems like a lot of work for hundreds of people. I'd get flooded with emails and it would take me forever to verify them all. I'm open to ideas.
I have seen on some servers that they assign roles for verified users. So when somebody asks something you can check whether there is a tag, and if not, ask for proof.

Unfortunately the easiest way is to have them write a question or review that contains their discord name. You can then check next to their username for the "key" icon that indicates they own the product. Then you set them "Verified" in your discord server. Asking for receipts is the same thing, but even those can be counterfeit, so be careful.
I have put in a request to add a new text field to every account. A text field that could contain any information that may be relevant to the seller you are purchasing from. It can be left blank if you do not wish to share any information, but when it is filled in (with their discord name in this case) the seller would be able to see a list of all these text fields. Upon sale, it would add your text field to the list for the seller to see. I mean, they obviously keep track of your individual sales, just need one more piece of info to be passed along.

Hey guys, after some emails & some changes I could ship it. Our users really like the project & they really need to update approval guidelines & the process.
I shared some links in the #released if someone wants to see those.
I read it from some places that it won't work. Anyway, I ended up buying a cheap Android device. Now it's my go-to place when doing any performance-related work.
Also, try using RenderDoc & it even works on apps running on Android. It shows some really valuable info which is not seen in the editor.

Cant you work with copyright free assets and or contact the sellers and ask them for a cooperation of sorts? Just bcs the unreal marketplace licence doesnt allow you to distribute doesnt mean you can not strike cooperation agreements and limited use licences with the creators themselves
I think this is not allowed. That's why the UE team cannot share some of the cool demos they do. (eg: The water system demo)
I don't think there's a way to find a solution for you. Talking to the developer is the best idea. I release my stuff under CC-Non Commercial license. So, they can be used in tutorials.
I originally make them as MIT opensource license. Then, I found out some people trying to submit it to marketplace and that's why I changed it.

Epic generally is very lenient towards education and can potentially offer some help, though you probably do need to show credentials.
