Ah yes, we're actually posting about that now. So there's been a change to the reporting for all of your sales reports from now on. Instead of e-mailing them out individually, you'll see them as soon as the finance team approves it.
So you get to see the reports of what you'll get paid a bit sooner and more accurately in a view you can fiddle with and check
The trade off to this was that we couldn't keep the live sales reporting with it.

It does on the end of being able to watch your sales but for the backend it's a bit different. It makes it easier to reconcile and improve reporting that's sent to you guys and the overall goal is to get everything to a point where payments are much more consistent

In any case, it's one of those changes and improvements that looks more exciting to us because of what it means on the backend and the future but kind of disappointing to look at from the front end. We are still working on visible things that are more exciting and those you should see in the next few months

Hmm hopefully that report will remain the same, as they say.

Why are manual reports even necessary anymore? Before this change, sales reports would list the monthly sales and divided them based on product/price in the case of discounts.
Now we can't even look at overall monthly sales for the current month, and we can no longer view up to the minute sales. This is a huge step backwards.

That was not the answer. The answer was that it would help the accounting staff with sending out reports that are more accurate. The thing is, we were told our sales reports wouldn't have been affected a while ago due to it being 45 days prior.
Furthermore, we now find out that they wiped sales data from June 2015 - March 2016, without even giving sellers a heads up. That is totally unacceptable. If they're no longer sending out reports, how can we rely on the data being hosted on their site?
Sales data is one of the most crucial elements in the operation of any business. What's being done to ours is simply baffling.

I'm not going to quote them here for obvious reasons, but if you have access to the creator's hub read this post and the one below. https://forums.unrealengine.com/showthread.php?127060-Sales-report-change&p=615544&viewfull=1#post615544 They're citing sales reports as the reason for the change. I can't recall anyone ever complaining of inaccurate sales reports, and their own responses during the fraud events made mention that it wouldn't affect them due to the timing.
That isn't even the biggest problem though. The removal of online sales data is more alarming than a day delay. If we are no longer getting email reports as the posts in that thread suggest, then how can we rely on online data when they just wiped nearly a years worth without giving us a heads up?

it can take seven working days for a transaction to be "real". holds are generally put in place before then but not everyone uses them
in epic's case they may be manually processing the transaction after the hold, because that's a fuckload cheaper
manual transactions have an extra period during which they may be reversed without warning

I downloaded 4.9 and rebuilt everything
he had a good reason as to why he couldn't upgrade the engine, but I can't remember what it was

I think versions after 4.9 didn't support compilation using VS2013 anymore

Whenever you import an asset, it will overwrite anything in the project
If everything is in one folder, nothing will happen
But if the project already had an Infinity Blade folder?

People are not allowed to post the for free (issue came up when some artists wanted to make some free content to promote their other packs) however epic made few of their packs like Infinity Blade series free for everyone (free as long as you use it within your ue4 projects)

I think it's just 'whenever they get processed' to be honest, doesn't seem to be any real pattern to it
New assets get added on Wednesdays I'm pretty sure, except there is usually a small number of plugins that get added on Mondays. Updates to assets get done whenever they are processed though.
Hi @flat schooner, @ebon leaf is correct. We release new content on Wednesdays, new plugins are released on Thursdays.

I have a question: It's recommended to provide an example map of your marketplace blueprint asset showing its functionality, but you should remove additional content. But in my case the example map needs additional blueprints, childblueprints, etc?
If I want it to be like content examples, It'll also need some additional static meshes
AFAIK you can leave staff from content example and deafault map but you vave to move them to your asset folder

so it's like YourAssetPackName/Meshes, /Maps, /Materials
i tried to do something similar where i put the template epic assets i was using in a sub folder and they requested i put them in a standard folder layout 😜

why not both?
if you do release single characters they have to be rigged and substantially animated
make them as comprehensive as possible - different outfits, materials, weapons, etc
the bar for getting individual characters on the MP seems to have been going up
the same is true for packs too but you can be a little lighter on all of the alternative options

if someone is low on cash and just need 1 or 2 models - he/she will go for single character/asset
but there is this mentality - omg discount!
even if people need just one asset from pack they tend to buy whole pack (because iot was cheaper)

@spice sierra be sure to price it high enough to account for Epic's 30%...at $10, you're only going to get $7 per sale (not accounting for taxes...VAT in the EU, which I think is taken out during the purchase, or income taxes if you're in the US, which you're expected to pay yourself).
also keep in mind that you might want to put it on sale sometime...take a look at other comparable quality characters on the marketplace to get an idea of how much they're going for
^ that, and if you have animations to all your fishies, those can be more valueble than the model itself as they could be repurposed.
it's easier justifying reducing price down the road than it is increasing price (without serious updates to the pack to justify the hike)

yea, it's just that the example map files will take like twice as much space as the blueprints itself
otherwise, some people without a clue might go "that's a damn fine mannequin, sold!"
and how about demo_doom, RoomDescription and DemoDisplay blueprints, meshes & materials from epics ContentExamples project? this is killing me, because on the other hand, it'd make it easy and look pretty, but it will take up space

I'll answer anyway just so you have it. It does depend on what you're selling. If you're selling a model and using textures from Epic that's going to get some push back, if you're putting in the entirety of Kite Demo to show off a single woodland creature, we'll probably ask you to take it out. With things like blueprints, we're less strict so long as it's not overkill. So worst case we'd just ask you to cut down. It should showoff your product but your product does need to be the main focus.

What if I could buy some asset for example this one: https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/simple-farm fro 10$ which is models only, work on it: add logic, maybe animations, etc. Value my work on this asset for 10$ and sell it on mp for 20$. So 10$ will get author of the models and another 10 I will get for my additional work.

Looks interesting. If it's a code based product you don't need to go all out for the visuals. It wouldn't hurt if you can, but I would imagine people would buy it for use with their own assets.

@gleaming echo current implementation in the engine is not efficient when it comes to doing "coherent" queries and lucks some features, like measuring distance of speific segments

It's on the payout report. It looks like the revenue earned is identical for both months on 2 of my products that have the blank unit data. Very weird.
Both of the products have sales pricing, could it be related to that?

wanted to look at the Realistic demo, because lighting is driving me crazy
was trying to create an enclosed room with a few windows, but no point lights, just natural light
before I built the lighting, it looked great 😉
then it just turned really dark with a bit of light coming in from the windows

the protofactor stuff looks like it's ported from Unity
you can tell because the materials look kind of janky
it's the same with Mr Necturus, it also looks ported from Unity and the materials look janky in the exact same way
I couldn't tell you exactly what's wrong with the materials, but something about them just doesn't look quite right

The sale category will no longer be in the dropdown category but will be found on the home tab along with "New Content", "Vault" and "Home". In addition to this we'll also have a specific section for Event Sales for any promotions or sales that Epic puts on (such as the Summer Sale, Halloween Sale,

0 means you had 1 sale for a package and then 1 refund on the same pack at the same day pulling the 1 back to 0.
-1 means you had 0 sales for a package and then 1 refund on the same pack at the same day makes the 0 show as -1.

yeah I don't think it's unreasonable to want people to PDF their own stuff. on the other hand, it is ridiculously easy to convert an HTML document to PDF. Just change the extension.

0's are the same day and - 1 are over the 24 hour threshold. This doesn't really indicate what type of refund or transaction it was though (charge back, refund, etc.)
@heady moth I agree with you. A PDF file is more practical than just an e-mail. --I didn't know that someone still uses Outlook. I thought browser based e-mailing is safer and more flexible. 😋

thank you man!! i.e. they all derive from one baseclass. make a childclass from this and you are golden. you can then set some like estimated surface area. which is needed for the wind calculations. however these objects need physical materials. these host the material densities, which also go into the wind calc.

thank you. also looped soundcues are modulated in volume by the objects velocities, so you can have sounds plyed when the object moves.

the sign works by physical constrains. the chains are each 3 objects with 2-3 links in the mesh. unfortunately the physical constrai. objects need unrealitic material densities for the chain links. therefore i deliver these example objects. explosions or any physical impact should work, since itis all based on physics. but yes i should test this!! thank you for this hint!
fun fact: the physx flags don't work with physical forces. you need a wind directonal source and have it synchronized with the physical wind..this is so awkward. but works now! was very tricky since teh internets doesn't know too much about all this.

yes the package will include all of this scene. the rocking chair is moved by the wind too. the rounded feet of the rocking chair are also rounded in the collision mesh, so it just rocks by the physical simulation.
does it take its resting state as the position it should return to?
kind of like a spring?
this is defined by its center of mass. but i didnt offset this. the automatic placement was sufficient for a believable placement. the resting pos is slightly tilted backwards, and the chair will always rock back to this balanced resting point automatically

it's just a bit perfomance hungry. the scene without the wind actors is 130fps., having 50 tumbleweeds processed plus the other objects will eat 10-20 frames! however i also had 500 tumblers spawned and processed and still had 35fps. so i believe having a max of 30 windactors per scene should be fine
is all of this physics on the GPU yet?
if only i knew haha. i believe the ohysx cloth should be handled gpu only though

unreal doesn't do gpu physics as it would mean it would only work on nvidia hw
physx 3.4 has also a new GPU solver but it's not currently being used in 4.14 as far as I know

@daring bridge what ND do is a bit more tricky, subobject pivot locations are baked into vertex data, to rotate whole parts of the mesh around a pivot other than the object pivot
they also add displacement lag based on how far a vertex is from the pivot
to get more realistic sway
