Does anyone know what happens if you use gpl v2 maps in a game? Can you sideload c++ dlls to get around releasing the code? do you have to release assets? It's something I'm comfortable releasing for free, but can't release all the source nor assets... Or is using GPL completely banned? 2. You need to "Accompany it with the complete corresponding machine-readable source code" of that work.
   Basically, only LGPL can save you. Or offer your users an way to access that on their own.

However, if they just tackle your product just on their own machines, you can offer them to download and install that gpl thingie. Basically, you pass the responsibility to them.

Most game devs I've worked with don't even do the paperwork for the design element. Project management is sorely lacking in the indie dev scene. One advantage of AAA is they do have their paperwork down, even if you are swimming in it at some point and have to do systems analysis for when employees use the bathroom just to know the average human work hours lost :p

I doubt it. Some users will stay in UE4 for their existing projects but that's about it, I don't really see any reason to not use UE5 for new projects if it's stable enough (and I think it seems to be as of 5.0.2)

If you check my previous posts, I wasn't really talking about the engine capability actually, I think it have interesting features for the future, but is the current market ready for the promoted features?
It's more about the prospect of whether what the marketing team have been promoting on the net can actually be absorbed by the targeted user or not.

MetaHumans and character stuff work better in UE5 as well which is a key feature for a lot of users

As it is the current most recent stable version of the engine, there is really no reason to start a new project on UE4 unless you have some very specific reason for it

Yeah, if you have a sufficiently complex UE4 project it might not be as straightforward to upgrade

But then again, I don't know if a lot of new plugins are added into projects that are so far along already
