Hmm actually not sure, a bit hard to say since CMS actually already had a release in 2014
MSC has been in development for like 10 years or something but it wasn't very known in the early days
And yeah, Car Mechanic Sim is more streamlined in many ways... I've not played it myself but it seems it's easier in that it gives you a lot more help and convenience in doing things
Whereas in MSC you will have to know where each part goes, it won't tell you anything except give you a little checkmark when you're in the right spot, and for example to bolt things in, you have to use mouse wheel to rotate each individual bolt step by step lol
which is about as painful as it sounds when you're new to the game :P
but it's truly one of those games which get rewarding if you put the effort to learn it... but it definitely could use a less clunky UI for those who don't want to google for guides on how to play it

now we're moving to distributed service architecture in docker containers running on a vm atm, we load that dataset in approx ~7 seconds now
did I mention our previous application has little to no multithreading
one of the things being held back by these people working here for 20 years at a time
they don't have the reflex to think about scalability and stuff
we also have this stupid release system where we support the last 5 releases
mind you, one release is an arbitrary period of 6 months
so we're retrofitting bugs to code of 2,5 years old that is maybe no longer used today
and of course clients use that old shit, but then they want new features
so often times we end up retrofitting features to older releases as well
luckily there's a team working to streamline the process and hopefully only have 1 live release that is continuously updated

VS is just really slow on our codebase, we even used VAX, but then they swapped to some clangd intellisense thing, but of course they forgot that we also have c# developers, so the all the VAX features were just gone for that then. So just decided to yolo it in VSCode, which has less intellisense, but at least it's fast and doesn't crash
