#

At least considering those that were public

deep copper
#

why is it called that though

proud jay
#

because Crytek

#

which comes from Crysis

deep copper
#

i can see game engine history classes being a thing soon

proud jay
#

I had game history in college

deep copper
#

.. it's already a thing

proud jay
#

but then again, I did study a game development specific thing

deep copper
#

that makes sense i suppose

#

though i thought those usually didn't allow using game engines much

proud jay
#

we used a custom engine of school the first year, then in the second year we did unity + making our own engine based on some framework, third year was just grad work and internship so you could use what you wanted

deep copper
#

that doesn't sound so bad, but how was the custom engine?

proud jay
#

I mean it was good enough for our purposes

#

was just some Direct2D and Box2D stuff wrapped in some nicer API tbh

deep copper
#

so basically stuff simplified/broken down to study it, neat i guess

proud jay
#

yeah was pretty cool

left granite
#

what is id tech ?

proud jay
proud jay
#

from doom and quake

quasi mantle
#

I swear back then Doom search result got poisoned by Dhoom, which is a totally ||un||related Indian film series.

At least they didn't make Dhoom 2016 and Dhoom Eternal.

proud jay
deep copper
deep copper
quasi mantle
proud jay
#

that was actually so much fun to make

#

somehow I lost my creativity to make these kind of dumb games for fun

celest musk
#

too warm for gamedev

#

๐Ÿ˜ญ

proud jay
deep copper
celest musk
#

that brimstone game doesn't look too bad

#

was it popular?

proud jay
#

lol it never left the school

celest musk
#

huh, the basic game play looks fluid tho

proud jay
#

we were hard capped by the requirement to be able to run in a browser though

#

the day before the exam added a whole infinite mode cause I was bored as well ๐Ÿ˜„

#

fun times

celest musk
#

the 2nd looks like the usual indie game before good quality 3rd party assets where a thing ๐Ÿ˜„

proud jay
celest musk
#

are you teacher or have you been student in that class?

proud jay
#

student

#

They're actually looking for teachers, and was considering, but it pays so much less than my current job though

#

otherwise I'd love to do it

celest musk
#

also from what i can tell, teacher job can be hell

carmine frigate
#

ow that VR thing looks allright

celest musk
#

not because of the students, but because of your employee

#

i know someone trying to get out of teaching, into IT ๐Ÿ˜„

deep copper
celest musk
#

somehow i hate videos of FPS games

#

they make me feel uncomfortable

deep copper
#

same, it always feels scary

#

because you can't see stuff near your body too well

carmine frigate
#

that looks VR not fps

proud jay
#

yeah it is VR

celest musk
#

well, first person games is what i meant

carmine frigate
#

ye thats shit for videos

celest musk
#

because they force your view, while on 3rd person videos its less stressing imho

#

they usually have smoother camera rotation^

deep copper
#

how can you tell it's VR?

proud jay
#

cause I made it

#

๐Ÿ˜„

celest musk
#

no arm, just the gun

carmine frigate
#

shakey head

celest musk
#

thats typical VR game stuff

proud jay
#

good times

deep copper
#

you can still get back to them ! gather your ancient allies !!

proud jay
#

man needs to make money

#

that VR game was like 10 weeks of working on it at least 4 fulltime days with a few people

#

don't have the time for it

carmine frigate
#

dunno, plenty of ppl dont live the money life

deep copper
#

.. isn't that quick

carmine frigate
#

hunter/gatherers are still a thing

proud jay
#

well I guess, but also it's just a student project

#

also, as I said I have no ideas for cool shit anymore

#

in my first year I made like 12 dumb ass games like fake cookie clicker and flappy bird

#

even made a dress up game with putin as the main character once :p

carmine frigate
#

havent done a gamejam in ages but small projects are fun

deep copper
#

well it's alright, whenever you feel up for it :D !
your goal should be having fun while making it as well, not taking it as a chore rn ig

proud jay
#

yeah

celest musk
proud jay
#

working on the same game for 2 years was getting tedious towards the end at work

celest musk
#

there's no "fun" in "gamedev"

#

sometimes you crack a laugh, because you are so deeply depressed that even the small things cheer you up

deep copper
celest musk
#

there's still chore in them

#

and trust me, even if the bone rotation thing is fucking my mind, when something like this finally works, you are happy (for 5 minutes)

carmine frigate
#

when ur rig is setup its setup..

celest musk
#

it's like craving the happy drug

proud jay
#

I think you need to talk to your therapist

deep copper
proud jay
#

game dev is pretty fun imo

#

just developing in general tbh

carmine frigate
#

problem solving

deep copper
#

19 months free

proud jay
#

I now work on backend services for supply chain planning solutions, but I still enjoy developing

#

just a different result

deep copper
#

that's a huge word, but i added it to the notes

#

either way, i guess it's just personal outlook on , problem solving or something

carmine frigate
#

these are some of my games

#

most didnt make it on there tho

proud jay
#

ok those thumbnails are hilarious though

carmine frigate
#

thats my handwriting ๐Ÿ˜›

fleet tangle
#

Did you mean "Bricks"?

carmine frigate
#

also my spelling

proud jay
#

here's some more things I did, outdated though, missing a game <redacted>

#

doxing myself hard rn

#

doing high poly 3d stuff was also pretty fun tbh

celest musk
#

you can remove the link in 5 minutes

deep copper
celest musk
#

then go back to #cpp and tell people the ugly truth about their shitty code

carmine frigate
#

@deep copper if i dont laugh my ass off out of cringe when i hit the submit button ... it was a project failed ๐Ÿ˜›

proud jay
#

some people just need a good roasting

celest musk
#

yea, you can roast affectionate all day long

proud jay
deep copper
carmine frigate
#

a few days to make anything... that even runs... its hard

carmine frigate
#

they are all super short... u might like a playtrough

#

like i try to not waste peoples time...

proud jay
#

yeah but there's fun in having the mental freedom of knowing you don't have to make something gigantic and polished

deep copper
proud jay
#

yeah that was for an exam in second year

proud jay
#

took me only 6 hours to render ๐Ÿ˜Ž

carmine frigate
#

just play em when u get to ur PC, might get ur mojo back ๐Ÿ™‚

deep copper
deep copper
carmine frigate
proud jay
#

haha never did sculpting though

#

only hard surface

celest musk
proud jay
#

turbosmooth that shit

deep copper
celest musk
#

the blender monkey

proud jay
#

monke

celest musk
#

thermal vision ๐Ÿ˜„

#

which teached a bunch about depth/framebuffers

proud jay
#

more like poison swamp

carmine frigate
proud jay
#

ok that's just creepy

celest musk
#

yea, i think the final version was more blueish

deep copper
#

makes me sleepy

proud jay
#

interesting how it only shows hotspots though :p

#

like not black on the water or floor

celest musk
#

as i mixed up night vision (which had the greenish tint) with thermal vision

#

yea, only accounted entities

#

BUT

#

skeletons and zombies are blueish, too ๐Ÿ˜„

#

so only living creatures absorb heat

deep copper
#

so did you actually release this, mod thing?

celest musk
#

yea

foggy path
#

I had an idea for a minecraft based file browser

#

It would represent folders as buildings and contents of the folders inside them

celest musk
#

it's an addon for another mod (opencomputers) which adds Lua programmable computers to minecraft

fleet tangle
#

Lol

celest musk
#

so the whole mod was about writing some custom stuff in Lua, to render stuff with AR glasses

proud jay
celest musk
#

i think that exists

fleet tangle
#

Would it have a block in the middle for textures, rendering the texture to each face? ๐Ÿ™‚

foggy path
#

Yeah never got around to doing anything about it besides the idea tho lol

deep copper
fleet tangle
#

Depends how generic the scenery was.

#

Tries to imagine Unreal Engine village

carmine frigate
#

id look at the minecraft code... but the game is not for me

celest musk
#

can't imagine to mine enough cobble for a house big enough to store my "homework"

deep copper
carmine frigate
#

i rather boot blender and do a new sculpt

celest musk
#

my worst mod

1.) Craft a Syringe like shown below
2.) use the Syringe on any Baby Mob to get Blood of a young Mob
3.) craft the Youth Potion Syringe like shown below
4.) use it on any Baby Mob and it will stay a baby for >3 years of playtime.

#

xDD

foggy path
#

lol

#

the only mod I ever made for any game that actually did anything useful was a twitch integration mod for My Summer Car

#

I never released it because it required kinda complicated setup but I played with it enabled on my stream a few times and it was pretty fun lol

deep copper
celest musk
#

modding is a good way to learn how games in general work

carmine frigate
#

hmm i made a roborecall mod, never released tho

foggy path
celest musk
#

specially if it involves multiplayer and server/client logic

deep copper
#

ah, i am absolutely Not familiar xD

carmine frigate
#

like when i show ppl VR... i let em play that mod ๐Ÿ˜›

#

its kinda personalized

foggy path
#

Yeah, it allowed twitch chat to cause a number of different effects inside the game basically :)

#

like spawning beer cases (see how I said it'll make no sense)

#

lol

carmine frigate
#

1 time i had a bunch of skype conversations recorded from a friend and when i let him play i put a bunch of his own voice in

celest musk
#

the "my summer car" steam page reminds me of that car mechanics game that was in an unreal stream a while ago

foggy path
#

pretty sure car mechanic sim is somewhat inspired by MSC

celest musk
#

yea, they kinda look the same

#

while car mechanic sim looks more polished/clean compared to my summer car, which has more of a DIY mechanic vibe

foggy path
#

Hmm actually not sure, a bit hard to say since CMS actually already had a release in 2014

#

MSC has been in development for like 10 years or something but it wasn't very known in the early days

#

And yeah, Car Mechanic Sim is more streamlined in many ways... I've not played it myself but it seems it's easier in that it gives you a lot more help and convenience in doing things

#

Whereas in MSC you will have to know where each part goes, it won't tell you anything except give you a little checkmark when you're in the right spot, and for example to bolt things in, you have to use mouse wheel to rotate each individual bolt step by step lol

#

which is about as painful as it sounds when you're new to the game :P

#

but it's truly one of those games which get rewarding if you put the effort to learn it... but it definitely could use a less clunky UI for those who don't want to google for guides on how to play it

deep copper
celest musk
#

which reminds me of the idiot which screwed in the oil drain screw on my car...

foggy path
#

First time I played it I could get the basic chassis and suspension bits built

celest musk
#

i have LIFTED the car trying to loosen it....

foggy path
#

because I had a vague idea on those... but the engine was annoying as shit

#

I was streaming it tho so thankfully I got a bunch of helpful randos in chat helping lol

celest musk
#

with a car jack pressing the ratchet up

deep copper
#

it sounds like you need to know real cars well to use msc

foggy path
#

yeah the car building aspect of it is definitely easier if you know at least the basics

celest musk
#

but why not work on real cars then?

foggy path
#

plus the engine tuning and diagnostics when things inevitably break

celest musk
#

unless you can't

foggy path
#

ah yes, the age old "why not do things in real life that you do in video games"

#

do you really want an answer to this

#

:P

celest musk
#

which would make it even more painful to play it, if you would like to

deep copper
#

even more fun to crash around

celest musk
#

well, yea there are times... where i would rather play the game, like winter maybe

foggy path
#

Or when you don't own a garage, tools, or anything else like that

#

:P

celest musk
#

you can come over and fix my car ๐Ÿ˜›

foggy path
#

Or a car that you're willing to potentially break when you fuck around with it...

celest musk
#

tools are here, broken car is here

#

all you need

foggy path
#

That doesn't sound fun

#

lol

celest musk
#

indeed

deep copper
#

you can come over and fix me

celest musk
#

as i dont have a garage

deep copper
foggy path
#

There are actually a couple of people that I know of who bought the same car as in MSC in real life and then actually tinkered on it

#

people with not much previous mechanical knowledge

#

that's how accurate the game is to large parts of it lol

celest musk
#

xD

#

that car doesn't look like something i would want to buy

foggy path
#

It's a 70s Datsun 100a

celest musk
#

probably a car which needs a lot of fixing ๐Ÿ˜„

#

so they made a whole game out of it

foggy path
#

Popular cheap econobox from back in the day

deep copper
#

i wonder if they guy who made the game had that car

#

and made it while experimenting on it

celest musk
#

i would take a datsun 240z probably, ,good looking car with some modifications :>

foggy path
#

I don't think he did, maybe his parents had one when he was young but not sure

pearl elk
#

I prefer workin on my real car, I do enjoy driving games though

deep copper
#

maybe it was an advert

foggy path
#

I prefer paying someone else to work on my car lol

pearl elk
#

I tried CMS but it got bit boring, lots of grind

#

I prefer Street Rod

celest musk
#

i prefer GTA ๐Ÿ˜„

foggy path
#

Yeah, CMS didn't feel like very interesting.. think I have it free from somewhere

foggy path
#

with MSC there's a lot of other bits besides just tinkering on the car which make it fun to play

#

Dave Oshry has one of those 240z's I think

pearl elk
#

I think mechanic stuff can be interesting but twisting bolts is as tedious as organising and selling scrap inventory

deep copper
pearl elk
#

Im doing brake rotor upgrade atm, did my suspension, sway bars etc without a hoist lol

foggy path
#

Sounds like typical MSC mechanic stuff

pearl elk
#

Do it while youre young is my recommendation

foggy path
#

In MSC you can use a beer case to lift up the car lol

celest musk
#

yea, you can regret the money spent later

foggy path
#

I wanted to get a new exhaust for mine but there's no places that do them here that I'd actually trust with it

#

The two places that I would trust were like "we can't do it because we can't offer a guarantee for the work"

deep copper
#

time to take car lessons and fix it yourself

proud jay
pearl elk
#

Thing that frustrates me most is car games tend to go off in different tangents and theres not really one in the middle. Be cool to have mechanic stuff be important, tuning too as well as cosmetics not just a huge emphasis on one for gameplay

deep copper
foggy path
pearl elk
#

Oil and plugs at the least

proud jay
#

in belgium you are required to do yearly maintenance and have it checked, but only if the car is older than 4 years

deep copper
proud jay
#

but I have a company car that's swapped out every 6 years, so we gucci

foggy path
#

I'm pretty sure the developer of MSC actually played his Street Rods back in the day :D

pearl elk
#

I love NFS but boy it could be so much better if it was abit more on the grand theft auto side of things and I dont mean the game

deep copper
#

you mean the crashes?

#

or, speed

pearl elk
#

I see all these NFS games in UE5 lately and its kinda like bleh

#

Been there done that, whats new

#

No ones showing off interesting new gameplay

proud jay
#

car go forward

#

not much to innovate

#

burnout paradise was the shit

#

blowing other cars up

carmine frigate
pearl elk
#

Car go forward, yeah I played that mobile game

#

You swipe and thats it yay for complexity

deep copper
#

cargo space ?
car go road

proud jay
#

car go ship

pearl elk
#

Why not, seeing cars loaded onto a ship is new

proud jay
#

but seeing cargo ships being loaded onto a car, now that's interesting

pearl elk
#

Car go ship while being loaded with drugs

celest musk
pearl elk
#

Spark plug gaps are important a misfire is worst case they still dont fire 100% if worn

celest musk
#

how much do you drive tho?

foggy path
#

I just take my car to the shop when the car tells me to do it, they do something in there to it, charge me exorbitant amounts of money, and then I do it again next year

#

So far it has continued working alex

celest musk
#

modern spark plugs don't "corrode"/burn off as old ones

pearl elk
#

Lol modern, it depends entirely on what theyre made of

#

Most people arnt running iridiums

celest musk
#

yes, but most have platinum stuff at least

foggy path
#

at least she's trying alex

fleet tangle
deep copper
#

i have no idea what is supposed to happen actually kappaross

pearl elk
#

Checking plugs is a great indicator of cylinder health

#

Please do it once a year at the least

celest musk
#

please dont

pearl elk
#

Please go away

foggy path
#

I'd just follow the instructions in the car's manual tbh

#

It usually says to do plugs every X distance driven or every X months

fleet tangle
pearl elk
#

I just do it when it needs doing, some people are crazy about 5000km oil changes

fleet tangle
#

Not myself, no, but I do on my motorbike.

celest musk
#

when does it need doing according to you?

left granite
fleet tangle
#

If you see smoke, you probably need it? ๐Ÿ˜›

celest musk
#

then its most likely to late

proud jay
#

I mean, the car literally tells you when it needs oil

deep copper
celest musk
#

holy shit, those 2 persons been lucky

celest musk
pearl elk
#

Lol if your oil light is on thats not cuz the oil needs changing

fleet tangle
#

I'm pretty sure the garage would be insured for that type of thing, so probably wouldn't cost them much.

proud jay
#

not my problem, if car break, my company pays for it, I'm happy ๐Ÿ˜„

#

life of luxury

foggy path
#

The oil light thing is so dumb

#

Whose idea was it to make it turn on when it's already possibly too late

#

:P

celest musk
#

inspection reminder != oil lamp

pearl elk
#

I love people who carry water to top up their radiator

fleet tangle
#

I totally rely on my car to tell me things, even if the tyres are flat.

foggy path
#

In My Summer Car you can pee into the radiator to fill it alex

deep copper
foggy path
#

Yes, no joke

pearl elk
#

Who the hell has a car that tells them when the next service is, thats some fancy shit

fleet tangle
foggy path
#

I do

#

And it's not even that new, it's from 2007

#

:P

fleet tangle
#

Me too.

celest musk
#

probably every fricking car made in the last 10 years does that

pearl elk
#

Why cant the car do the oil change itself, cheeeaaaP

proud jay
#

artificial dumbness

celest musk
#

it's not a bad invention imho

foggy path
#

My car tells me if the brake pads are worn out and if any of the lights have burned out

deep copper
foggy path
#

it's very handy

fleet tangle
#

I probalby need my oil changed more than every 5000km, tbh. I don't really do more than 1000/year. I can't imagine the same oil for 5 years is a good idea.

pearl elk
#

I have this thing called a dipstick, I pull it out and yeah... suck it

fleet tangle
#

Probably don't even hit 500.

celest musk
deep copper
foggy path
#

lol

celest musk
#

pretty cheap, but sold pretty expensive as extra ๐Ÿ˜„

foggy path
#

from what I understand the light burnt out sensor measures resistance on the circuit or something like this

fleet tangle
#

But is there a sensor that checks the sensors?!

pearl elk
#

What no tyre pressure sensor

foggy path
#

It has that too :P

fleet tangle
#

And what if that sensor breaks?

foggy path
#

Tbh the sensor failing will probably trip a fault code

celest musk
foggy path
#

I'm sure the germans thought of that

celest musk
#

and yea, sensor lines are usually also watched for resistance

pearl elk
#

I see why you guys need to take your cars in for services

#

You dont wanna spend a fortune in software credits

deep copper
#

that's some magic sensor stuff

celest musk
#

that's tech that you find in 15-20 years old cars

#

nothing too new

pearl elk
#

My cars a 2004 so no youre wrong

foggy path
#

Yeah the Mercedes Star software won't even run except on specific hardware configurations

#

lol

celest musk
#

well, i had cars from 2000 which had stuff like that

foggy path
#

although to be fair it does spit out most of the diagnostics info over regular OBD

pearl elk
#

The ecu is slower than a 386 hehe

celest musk
#

even my crappy ford from 2005 has most of it

deep copper
#

are you some car collector :P

celest musk
#

no

deep copper
#

do you want to collect me?

celest musk
#

rather cars

pearl elk
#

My crappy Ford from 2004 has nothing, seat belt sensor, door sensor... thats bout it lol

proud jay
#

damn you got seatbelt

#

wild

pearl elk
#

But it has an engine capable of producing 1200hp hehe

celest musk
#

is that a ford engine?

pearl elk
#

Prolly didnt want traction control anyways

#

Best Ford engine ever made, the mighty Barra

proud jay
#

bro

#

that's insane

pearl elk
#

Theres some which make 2000hp

#

Its a common swap for drag cars

celest musk
#

well, thats an engine where i would change spark plugs every 5k miles or something, too

#

but not on a normal car

celest musk
#

screw it, i prolly would check them after each run, just to be sure

pearl elk
#

Ive never seen a normal car, unless thats one of those engines filled with rust or milk

proud jay
#

what

deep copper
#

milky car

celest musk
#

i dont think that modern aluminum engines do rust that much

pearl elk
#

When the coolant mixes with oil

celest musk
#

they may do a bunch of other nasty things, tho

pearl elk
#

Aluminium blocks abit fancy but they can warp, Subis love to do that

#

Thats a prime milkshake right there

#

Or when coolant shoots out the cylinder head

fleet tangle
pearl elk
#

"Low K wrecker motor, ran when taken out"

pearl elk
fleet tangle
#

Dang. My car only does upto 603 bhp!

pearl elk
#

The cars too heavy tbh thats why people swap barras into smaller cars like mustangs

proud jay
#

idk anything about cars, I'm just a pleb driving around in my Audi A3 sportback

pearl elk
#

But I like my crappy taxicab luxury, I just squint my eyes and pretend its an s class

pearl elk
fleet tangle
#

Oh it's 211bhp actually. Damn.

pearl elk
#

Best feature of newer cars is adaptive suspension

#

Everyone is like get coilovers but what you really want is adaptive

celest musk
#

yea but if that shit breaks, it breaks your wallet

quasi mantle
#

If nothing goes wrong, I'd be moving out again by June, but even further, out of town

celest musk
#

looking at modern cars, they aren't really affordable when they reached 10-15 years age

quasi mantle
#

I hope nothing goes wrong, my mental condition hasn't been good lately

celest musk
#

every electronic fault will cost few hundreds to fix

#

they are born for the junkyard

quasi mantle
#

Applying as Junior Game Designer, hope it goes well

celest musk
#

even the 2005 ford i got is part of that (had a broken controll unit on the electronic clutch, which would cost ~$900 at ford)

#

that's what the car is worth if it would drive

pearl elk
#

Yeah euro cars here can be bad, I saw something bout an Audi with a dodgy steerring wheel. Infact I think it was Mighty Car Mods, cost a mint just to fix a small electrical issue in the wheel harness

pearl elk
#

Thats why theres a push for 48v systems to promote hybridisation as well as less weight in wiring

#

I got like 5kgs in just 2 battery cables lol

quasi mantle
deep copper
pearl elk
#

The world needs more game designers

#

To save us from skyrim and gta remakes

proud jay
#

pokes or digis?

pearl elk
#

No pokin my mons

deep copper
#

does mons mean anything?

proud jay
#

it's short for monsters

#

pokemon = pocket monster

pearl elk
#

I think latin its mountain

#

Haitian creole its monster

proud jay
#

mons is also mountains in french

quasi mantle
#

At least back then Dhoom would be mixed up more with Doom in the search results

#

Thankfully they don't make new Dhoom films nowadays
Though the Indian filmmakers would troll the shit out Doom community if they make a new film called Dhoom Eternal

neat sluice
quasi mantle

Talking about early 2010s before Doom 2016 become the hot stuff

gambling

fathom wadi
#

because I believe slot gambling should be something we protect children from

carmine frigate
#

they should

fathom wadi
#

Ive been addicted to slots since I was 4 years old. I've had some awful times when I hit rock bottom.

carmine frigate
#

really in this day of age .. where ponzi schemes are cheered instead of illigal

fathom wadi
#

im going to remake that coin fountain before I complete the slot for release. It uses a flipbook that I rendered in engine but now we have Niagara for UMG so it would save having to do all that

deep copper
fathom wadi
#

about 40% of them are online in casinos. Book of Dead (and the original Book of Ra) slots, which I copied here, have been cloned so many times it's considered the grand daddy of all slots

carmine frigate
fathom wadi
#

I dont actually bet on anything but slot machines. Sometimes a casino will give me a free bet so I use that, but usually only on UFC because I've watched it for 30 years so I'm pretty good at guessing who will win ๐Ÿ˜„

carmine frigate
#

A person that likes to gamble his money will allways feel the pull

carmine frigate
#

that is just mean

fathom wadi
#

Fortunately I am aware of my addiction so I limit myself heavily. ยฃ20 a week at most. Low stakes only. Which is super casual and only what I would spend on MTX for path of exile or some other game anyway ๐Ÿ˜„

deep copper
#

have you ever won anything?

carmine frigate
#

my guess he is down over 60%

fathom wadi
#

yeah overall I'm still winning. Since 2012 I've won roughly ยฃ10,000 from 0.10/0.20 stakes.

carmine frigate
#

on average

#

ow i thought odds of + in the long run are super low on slots

fathom wadi
#

I play high volatility slots, nothing less than 96% RTP. They don't pay often, but when they do, its massive

carmine frigate
#

like impossible unless outliers

deep copper
#

that's quite cool !

carmine frigate
#

96 return isnt bad at all

fathom wadi
#

long term the majority of people will lose. Limiting yourself is key to sustaining wins. If you play constantly like some Twitch/Youtube streamers you will lose thousands and more. They only sustain because of sponsorships from casinos

#

that 96% RTP is over billions of spins tho. So you can hit a million spins with nothing big. Its all luck

fathom wadi
#

the less volatile slots will pay out more often but not as much, which can sustain a bit easier

carmine frigate
#

i played some online poker but not anymore

fathom wadi
#

I used to play online poker but only $1/$2 tops. Which sucks because everyone goes all in with 6,2 offsuit and wins

#

My last two times I played online poker I ragequit from having AA and AK against rags and losing

carmine frigate
#

i prolly would have profited if it wasnt for the antes

#

played like 10 25$ tables at a time

fathom wadi
#

I only play Pokerstars VR now. no pressure and its not as exciting, but you don't lose anyway except time

#

oof. If I could afford to play high stakes I'd do a lot better. I'm a solid poker player overall but low stakes it's like playing Bingo

carmine frigate
#

mostly sit and go but also large tourneys

#

well high stakes ppl also crush u with trash... in the end bad players is where u get ur money tho

fathom wadi
#

I once played in a $2.5million tournament and went out just before the bubble. I had AK, 3-bet the blind. Got called by one. Flop came out nothing, raised, got called, turn was nothing, raised, got called, river popped the ace. Went all in, got called. Guy had 6,2 offsuit and made a straight. I almost threw up at the thought of him calling my 3bet

carmine frigate
#

hmm i dont play on odds as much as on stacksize and opponent

#

i do know the odds for open end straight draw and flush draw and stuff

#

if i would have hit open end on flop and my stack allowed it i would push you out on flop

fathom wadi
#

yeah I saw the possibilities but when you 3-bet the blind in a tournament close to the bubble, you expect the trash hands to fold when they haven't paid the big blind. Perhaps this guy just need to take a shit or something. I dunno. Anyway I quit for like 5 years. Went to play again earlier this year, never really felt the same

carmine frigate
#

40% win odds is worth shoving allin too take the blinds

#

steal the pot

#

well thats how i play

fathom wadi
#

yeah this guy didn't have anything until the turn. Plus it wasn't open ended. He had both ends :p

carmine frigate
#

gettin AK and hiitin A or K on flop often makes ppl weary

fathom wadi
#

perhaps if the A hit on the flop I would have forced him to fold, but it seemed like he wasn't folding no matter what. Thats low stakes tho. Sometimes people just play anything thinking they are Tom Dwan

carmine frigate
#

I once played in a $2.5million tournament and went out just before the bubble

you might think "I didn't break any rules" but look again, there's only 1 rule to follow, #rules #11, which implies "don't make the mods mad", the rest of the rules just describe what could potentially make them mad, it's not a complete list.

this also implies that you could break the other rules mentioned if it doesn't makes any mod mad. this rule applies to all servers i have seen so far

one of the things being held back by these people working here for 20 years at a time

they don't have the reflex to think about scalability and stuff

we also have this stupid release system where we support the last 5 releases

mind you, one release is an arbitrary period of 6 months

so we're retrofitting bugs to code of 2,5 years old that is maybe no longer used today

and of course clients use that old shit, but then they want new features

so often times we end up retrofitting features to older releases as well

it's a bit suspicious that ue5-main hadn't any commits in 3 days....

VS is just really slow on our codebase, we even used VAX, but then they swapped to some clangd intellisense thing, but of course they forgot that we also have c# developers, so the all the VAX features were just gone for that then. So just decided to yolo it in VSCode, which has less intellisense, but at least it's fast and doesn't crash

Sorry I missed my dose of pills today

Even Jambax

Only Josai left

#

If Josai also abandons, that'd mean VAX is completely dead

probably Stranger/Weirder

#

I just said I use VSCode ๐Ÿ˜ญ

#

and our VS doesn't have it anymore either

#

obviously cause I can't install software on the vm I code on, so the options are VS VSCode or notepad++

#

don't tell our DevOps department

#

technically speaking VSCode is not allowed for some reason

#

but it's more like "not supported"

#

cause our front end people use it
