UE4 to blender doesn't have issues. It's Blender to UE4. If you have a skel mesh in FBX it's fine to put into blender. It's when you export out it gets to be a pain 😄

@fair relic Im sure there is some difficulty when you don't know or don't react or play badly. But essentially there is always a way to cheese it. It's the same with Sekiro and Nioh. It's not a bad thing, I actually like Nioh 1 and 2, but Sekiro was another that the enforced mental abuse + having to grind the easy NPCs on the way back everytime was annoying. I like to enjoy games rather than smash my controller out of frustration . I remember playing the original Demon Souls and thinking it was the best thing ever because games were getting too easy and I grew up in the arcades, but eventually it just annoyed me 😄

I change my modifier key layout at the hardware level now. And home/end/pgup/pgdn is Fn+arrow keys. Also have a dedicated delete key and grave. I deal with home directories on *nix often enough that shift+fn+esc is annoying as balls.

they swap a lot of special characters into totally different places :P
the us layout is just a lot better for programming because most special characters you'd use are easier to type on it

since you get ~ differently on the US layout I have no idea how you'd combine it to do that character lol
on the finnish layout you also get ¨ from a key but it's also kind of "modal" in that you have to press that key, and then space to get it
but if you again press a letter, you get things like ï or ö, although the fi layout has dedicated keys for ö and ä as they're so commonly used

Then I spent 10 years making video effects, IntrinsicFX, got 200+ videoeffects in c++/asm.. but no market anymore, CPU based effects are slow compared to GPU based and well, I made a VJ app too, Euphoria, never came out but was a fun project. As I said with my MOBA, you'd have your "cinematic" 3rd person view but you would be able to enable a point-n-click too should you desire
Mostly to let you check other parts of the map while you're traveling to a position
As a side I developed a "spectator AI" that has an additional camera that makes an actual cinematic experience in realtime, mostly for streamers
I worked a bit with the folks that made a Spout camera and that's what enables the stream to look different from what the streamer sees

Technically speaking, it's "just" a SceneCapture2D, it'll be completely optional and mostly for streamers that still have some GPU horsepower leeway
Also the AI runs on a second thread, usually streamers' CPUs have enough threads to support it

Fortnite Battle Royale is cartoony Unreal Tournament in DNA if you think about it 
Here's the thing about arena shooters:
- you given zero value weapon and zero armour in the beginning
- you have to scour through the map for weapons and health/armour items
- you could accumulate kills for a single round
The only difference gameplay wise are:
- permadeath/no respawn (except rebooting squad, but it's not possible in solo)
- shrinking safe zone
- bigger map

agree to an extent but Unreal Tournament is the namesake of the engine even. Its what put Epic on the map for many years. It'd be sad to see it not be continued

The shrinking safe zone was PUBG's innovation. I think the large map came from DayZ. But indeed it's essentially a variant of Last Man Standing.
Unreal Tournament was even less original. What it had was an engine that was ultra modern for the time and also very well tuned for moddability. UE4 is somewhat modern and much less approachable.

In my case it's just cooking a plugin/DLC with the appropriate version, however it does kinda work version-agnostic
Once it's cooked for a specific version, there's usually no conflicts with versions that do minor changes
I could circumvent that by enabling a custom scripting language buuuuuut nah

Anyway, I think Unrealscript and Unreal Engine in general being superior to the Id Tech 2(?) was a major factor. You couldn't really produce that now. There are other engines that are feature-equivalent to UE4 or better, and there are many many games that support modding as well as entire pseudo-games (e.g. Core) dedicated to the concept.
