What I noticed myself, was that while yes, TAA cost was high, it came out of basepass cost
With the old gen, the separated cost for TAA was gone, but the basepass cost was higher

Now that I fixed the landscape lods and removed the volumetric crap from sky got 100FPS on 970GTX at 1440p

The AI doesn't do the procedural walls. It looks exactly like the user is using brush actors tied to the window/door frames. Even has to "update geometry".

I can look at this for hours and be fine, I used to use have bright colors similar to what VAX has by default and after like an hour my eyes would get all watery and irritated
when I switched to rider took me around 3 hours to adjust all the settings and the color scheme 😂
That mine... more harsh in comparison, but I'm happy with it works great for me as logic and eye performance. I try to get up from the PC from time to time, hence why even if more bright is not wearing me out.
I actually asked them and they said they are working on migrating such settings from VS -> Rider.

Dark blueish are member variables, light blueish are local vars, orange functions, green classes, yellowish green structs, dark blueish with a border are function parameters, etc...

What game engine are you using?
The game uses a custom physics and graphics engine built for this game specifically. It uses raytracing for lighting, but does not require an RTX GPU.

I distinctly remember Godot having performance issues with things like that, but I can't really remember anymore what the functions were, and why they were slow. Just that I had to spend time refactoring my logic to cache everything. get_parent, I think.

Pretty sure it's using constraints instead of a raycast based solution for the suspension, which is more than likely a part of the problem
if its using conventional UE vehicle methods it probably needs tweaking for your setup. A lot. And tested. A lot. The physics needs a lot of accurate math otherwise it's flip-city. From wheel setups to physics materials to the whole shebang. Even then. The edge case stuff will still happen. It's all tweaking it down til it works.

hi i am new to UE 4 and megascans in general , my issue is that my first person actor is clipping through the megascan assets , i hav checked all hthe object attributes and compared them with basic Ue primitives , but i dnt know what else i am missing

the cars at certain speeds cannot turn at all but thats normal, except by the fact the wheels visually don't turn and are limited as well

I think most of the issue is that the physics cant really be realistic because design wise you want controls which dont exist on real cars.
Id buy the "feels good vehicle physics" pack over the "most realistic vehicle physics ever" pack 🙂

Ive honestly had issues working with things built in C++, its just that the default is not exposed to BP so its a heavy reliance on the engineer to update things kinda the very thing BP was made to avoid
Its more cultural if anything tbh an engineer might say, oh I dont want them to access this so I'll code in a blocking way without realising the designers needs. That sort of blackbox can be nice in a way, you dont want too much complexity in BP but it can cause extra work which didnt need to exist.
problem with physics stuff made in BPs is that it can't take advantage of physics substepping, that plugin is using constraints so suspension is going to be fine at low fps but from the looks of it friction and drive are done in BPs so if you test at low framerate you'll get drastically different behavior

more about physics stabilizers and networking than actual physics cals etc
Bored's vehicle stuff I believe exposes the physics callback to BPs so that's fine
But still to get accurate results you need to read velocity and transform data directly from the body instance in the substep since actor/component transform is updated at the end of the frame when the physics simulation is done
So if you use transform in a substep from the actor you will get old data from a previous frame
by the way Blue, why you didn't updated or released the 4.26 on the market ?

substep can actually cause some glitching on its own, for the box trace we were doing in a project I was helping on it was producing erratic results but line trace sometimes clipped through geo

yeah, problem with mine is that it's using my approximation for the tire/friction model

This is bad, very bad. A complete and utter disrespect for people who poured in their blood and sweat in creating the content for them and for free. Migrating only "top" content is insufficient and so ignorant. The value of wiki is almost entirely in long tail. Vast majority of Unreal engine is undocumented where you get all kind of issues few have seen before. If it wasn't for the community creating content for them, it would be unusable for many users. To salt the wound, they aren't even telling you exactly why they are doing this. Why making read-only archive is so hard, at very minimum. Didn't expect this from Tom Sweeney's company.

I have this data stream that starts with a header struct, I think I'm supposed to just read it straight into a struct. however `type` is coming out as a really big number rather than 0-8 or whatever. it's obviously reading past where I want it to stop because there's more to the message. how do I get it to write the enum type correctly and not go beyond the existing enum range?

I think the behavior is different when you code complete with different keys. eg "tab" will complete and remove text after, but "enter" should be just placing text without erasing anything.

yup thats what it is, I typically use tab and enter does infact keep the text so I'll try to train my brain to do it that way. It happens alot when Ive written something then want to add a Cast using autocomplete, I tend to write the thing I want to cast first

I'm looking for some type of OVERLAY SOFTWARE that shows different key combinations/shortcuts for a given app, based on what app you have currently on screen - so if you were in Unreal and hit the activation key, it would show you the unreal shortcuts, like a keyboard layout would popout on your screen and the B key would have CTRL+ Browse to asset in Content browser, listed on it - if I went to Blender and hit it, then I would see on the R key, it would say, CTRL+Perform Edge Loop - does anyone know if any software like this? \
