amd raytracing works best when you are doing stuff with RayQuery in DXR, instead of the "normal" stuff

nvidia is better at the nomrla stuff because they have been improving the drivers for a while. Rayquery is much easier to implement so amd does it better right now

gpu compute cores are very wide simd machines, but that doesnt work so well in rays. For rays you want smaller simd units (4x for example), and then be able to overlap a crazy fuckton of them to mask latencies

gpus execute stuff 32 at a time or so, and can overlap up to 8-10 waves at a time

mostly a bit less on complex shaders

a theoretical rays-first gpu would do instead stuff like 4 lanes per core, but overlapping 20 waves at a time, and having moar cores in general

nvidia is trying to sidestep all that by basically slapping a async unit that does just ray traversal and then the normal gpu cores do the actual shading calcs once stuff returns from the ray unit

but it still branches a lot if you have different materials, as its not possible to do more than 1 material at a time per each of those 32-wide waves

I just did the color calibration and made the main monitor look very similar to the other, pretty much the color is the same, only slight difference in tone but that's because one is samsun and the other is asus so they'll be a bit different, brightness is at 30 and contrast is at 100 and it looks really good

I think Epic need to pioneer the selling/changing of accounts. We are buying assets. Investing real money. The ability to "cash out" is a pro-gamer thing. If it's facilitated legitimately through Epic's system, they can take a service charge. This idea of "your games/assets die with you" needs to end.

Anyone know of a folding keyboard that uses USB or some other method of connecting to a Raspberry?

I'm looking to make a sort of PDA for development (and to make a gift for my dad who works embedded as a job) but so far I've found only Bluetooth ones or expensive ones

Is Meshroom the way to go? Or is there a better app around?

I use a Blender tool that is excellent for making meshes from 3 photos. If you have 7 it's even better.

Once I got into Xen, saves started corrupting so damn frequently and it crashes at some annoying moments

it's just a matter of AMD CPUs going into overdrive when there's something heavy to execute

and Epic's launcher coincidentally is

it also doesn't help that it fails to spin down after resuming from sleep

every single time Epic Launcher is at 17% when I wake my computer from sleep mode

shutting it down and then restarting it results in 0-5 % or so

The singleplayer campaigns were pretty damn good

If you ignore the multiplayer at first, it's one of the most atmospheric games for WW2

And Black Mesa has crashed another 5 times since I last chatted here

Either way, be prepared

Put your project and engine on an SSD otherwise it'll be hella slow

I'd recommend allocating 100 GB to each just to be sure

Well, SATA SSD dedicated to both, still got an NVMe boot drive
