Depends what do you mean by these. I think all have some artifacts visible, but we don't pay them attention. These area visible on mono shaded surfaces mostly, yeah. Kinda how you don't pay attention to your nose blocking the view all the time.
Dry eye is more like itching and uhm.. yeah, your eye feels dry :)

I have a question. I have a dream of my games being sold in physical stores. I am making small anime games with very high ratings and good sales on Steam. I don't hope to earn a lot but I just want this as fact. How can I make a deal with retail shops? Where do I make discs? Is the a minimum amount needed for retailers to accept discs?
Why do I need to apply for a local rating when seling in physical stores but don't need to when I sell games online where people can also buy them? Modern laws are very outpdated and go against logic.
Also, if I make a patreon and ship discs overseas by mail - do I need to apply for a rating in each country I send the disc to? Sounds like nonsence because when the game shop for example Steam sends packets with any game to any country - certification is not required. Why means of data transimsison define the legal limitations if the data is the same?

@zenith obsidian to hit a couple of points, you'll be speaking with distributors not retailers. You'll also be working within steams terms and framework. You'll need to integrate some things for full use of the platform. It's best to read about the steam process then go about understanding the distributor process. But also finding people who will print the disc's and materials - usually what a publisher handles with preexisting and established contracts and partnerships.

But it was done in a way where it wasn't mocking him or black people. He had the funniest lines too.

As much as that impresses me, and I'm not taking anything away from it, when the guy who made Dreams cloned it on the PS4, I was done. Graphics are now gonna be rightfully in their place, and that's a secondary bonus to actual gameplay. Rather than the smoke and mirrors it's always been trying to up the ante on graphical advances.
When you look at those scenes and add up all the time it would have taken to do the intricate architecture work, and the statues, the rocks etc, it's astounding to try come up with a figure off the top of your head.

If you track the growth of mainstay core effects that have spent at least 5 years within AAA game use, you find it's all major release work from 2000 where as much dynamic lighting and anti-aliasing and various other small effects that add up were drip-fed. Then we hit that lull from the PS3 to RTX where either fake or custom GI solutions were the flavour of the day. Now we have RTX. What's next? It has to be cinematic gameplay. Which is gonna either be amazing or really dull.

This is only true to a point purely depending on the complexity of what you are doing. There will be cases that this tech causes "perfectionism" and requirements for the end product cost more time than would be allocated because it can reach so far. I guess a good systems analysis person will be able to measure the balancing points, so you could say it's more job creation for those that can afford it.

well, the drivers were a bit iffy and had some weird bugs sometimes, but overall I didn't have any major problems with the 7970
besides the fact that if I wanted to watch Netflix I had to set my monitor refresh rate to 60hz because anything above it would just cause it to show nothing but static

the problem with irc has always been discoverability imo
for new and especially less technically inclined users it's just a pain in the ass
the other problem is the account persistence thing where when you log off you disappear which is inconvenient
and things like MemoServ are so obscure that even regular irc users might not be aware of how they work :P
(and yes you can get a bnc or run a client on a server or something but that's not something the average user is hugely inclined to do)

Twitch is basically just authenticating you as you log in, which is something irc servers have been capable of doing... they just back the authentication to the twitch user DB I guess
There's also things like NickServ which offer nickname protection, preventing other users from taking your name
But it's also kind of cumbersome to use, requiring you to authenticate by sending a username and password to NickServ as you log in
of course you can configure it to be automatic but that requires you to be able to figure out how to do that in your specific IRC client and at least in the ones I've used it never was super obvious at least to an average user

there is a content example room with a series of examples. Showing the fracturing process etc. It's basically : take mesh -> fracture to some tweaked voronoi detail level -> add anchors for things like structural supports -> Perhaps add particle emitter for dust -> good to go.
You can go further I guess but for basic prototyping it's quick enough

I can make a realistic version of a character, then make a stylized caricature version of a character. Then I can use the sliders to slide between them and find an art style that fits my project.
Then I can also make a character that has specific elements of my art style and then use the sliders to add varying degrees of that to each character I make to try to keep a common thing going across all my characters.
It is very easy to move from Zbrush to Character Creator.
You could export to Zbrush, zombie up the character, export back to Character Creator, and then make a 'zombie' slider that can apply to other characters.

I learned Unreal 3 as an environment artist as visual FX guy long before I ever actually learned how to do the game design elements of a project.

So my first few years of Unreal 3 was primarily making custom shaders for different things such as waterfalls or snowy surfaces or alien spaceships or materials for particle effects.
If I started learning Unreal in 2020 would I have started the same way? Probably not. But back then there weren't as many things easily available to just pick up and use. It was basically a full time job for me to make them for a project.
Back in those days it was rare for developers to make a material that used vertex painting and height maps to paint detail such as dirt or snow onto the level, so that alone got me one job.

But it was still better than Unity a decade ago.
Back in the day I learned Unreal 3, Unity, the Hammer Editor for Valve's Source Engine, and the CryEngine.
Working in Source was by far the worst. Unity didn't have good options for artists to make pretty projects.
