Can someone tell me why ue4 crashes frequently with ray tracing? It doesn't crash so much that i cant get work done but it does crash often. I have a Ryzen 3 3200G, RTX 2060, and 16GB RAM

More often than not it's caused by lack of video memory

If you're doing particularly complex scenes, the 6 GB on the 2060 won't suffice

I was testing a material that would allow me to clip a character's hair so it wouldn't clip through hats

Yeah it actually sorta does, I need to figure out how to rotate it though since most hats are at an angle

I also had another idea where I could attach the hair into a bone and scale it so the hair can be scaled down when a hat is worn

Larger open worlds, and I much prefer unreals way of dealing with lots of animations like combos, and blend states and what not, there are several things it's been a while so I don't remember everything, it's just as a whole unreal has more of what I need and can do things in a more straight forward way sometimes

UMG and Behavior Trees are two things that come to mind

I think they have a nice node based material editor nowadays but not sure how well that works

Save game support is also non existent

Yeah their material editor is pretty nice, I've worked with it only a few times doing cel shading but not much other than that

The only reason I get torn between the two is because I'm quite good with the coding, but hopefully one day I can code in Ue like a whiz so then everything would be perfect!

I made my top down perspective for my game, I'm just deciding, I kinda like being able to rotate the camera to look behind buildings and what not, but when you walk forward you can use mouse to change direction since you go forward based on camera, does that sound good for top down sorta game or keep static? 1 hour before I would have gone and put my cat to sleep due to long period of pain and not being able to breathe properly she pulled some sort of rock out of her nose.

now she acting like nothing ever happened.

Ah for some reason reminded me of my cat a couple of years ago, was more like a friend than a pet, basically whatever I was doing he was there beside me at all times, wasn't like that with anyone else.

One day a car or someone broke his spine, somehow managed to crawl over to the house and died when I got out to help him

From that point I'm not getting attached to any more pets

When there were only a few creators selling profit was great but it obviously can't stay that way forever as the MP matures

Yeah isn't as juicy as at start where the market where limited or wasn't that big as now but well if you keep promoting things each day

I found myself it must be a playground tool

no a core tool

basically keep in mind you're selling a sandbox tool, as if where for kids, is what faster sells

if you sell a tool where you have to do different things in order to get the benefit of the tool then don't expect any one other than professionals to get it

and this days you won't see a lot of these, as elder ones are working for companies or have their own tools

case of Phy is a rare one as the tool cover different things, as is even less expensive than hire a proffesional to get it done

have a whole structure in there, so the users range wide increase

and your plugin where a good case too

just there some ones started doing vehicles too plugins

maybe with more deep or idk what (as I have no idea at all of nothing related)

my problem with stuff on marketplace is that they usually have way too much stuff in them

instead of small, easily pluggable stuff

like, I bought this UMG stuff some time ago, and instead of it being just UMG widgets and then maybe some sort of interface that I could easily implement on my pawns/controllers the thing consisted of a pawn that directly told the UMG widgets what to do

that wasn't fun

Sometimes you may use it directly, but I think most of the time you need to adapt it to your case. Basically, you buy the know-how.

For assets - placeholders, most of the time. Or go fix them yourself 😄
