I don't know the consumption of 3080, but you know it, you can add also cpu + a bit more and add some % for the PSU - you are done. With 1k you can power up say 2 1080 cards with no problem. I doubt you gonna have problem with single 3080.

Okay. So, I'll need an entire tech tree that has to be researched, starting around... eh... the bronze age. You'll have to create machine parts, by hand, including manually threading bolts and screws. Eventually, you have a proper steel smelting and machining setup. Add in a logistics system to transport parts to the bridge site. And, at the end of all that, the only goal is to build a foot bridge over a small creek.
Unrelated to that, some mail was incorrectly delivered and the person wrote "Rong Box" on it. It was upsetting.
What's worse is that it's actually written on there twice, and the first time is marked out... I'm not clear what the particular mistake was there.

The key in longevity for HDD's seems to really be the start/stop count
Modern PC's run on such aggressive power saving modes that they turn off your hard disks really easily, and this causes them to wear out much faster

both desktops have the same motherboard and cpus installed and you can easily feel the difference between my upstairs and downstairs desktop
the only difference is the radeon vs the gtx1080
i guess what the radeon had going for it was that it was significantly cheaper than the rtx2080ti i would have otherwise gotten when building the second desktop

Well, my job was simply to make pretty environments, it was someone else's job to make the game and actual game.
Back when I worked in the industry that is.
So if I am going to get back into the industry, I figured the best way to do it is make very pretty environments.
I sort of miss Shenzhen though, getting to see all the computer parts all the time.

the pattern isn't scaled properly for complicated reasons that I know how to fix
but you'll notice that it's a UV square tiled along a spline
(or part thereof)
which I could jam into a material and use as the uv coordinates for another texture (i.e. a road)

Yeah that could be worth a try, this is something the player will eventually be able to move around though which might be trickier to do with decals
Right now it's basically just a very flat cube with a material using the generated texture
