I think the industry has very weak vocabulary for talking about stories specifically in the context of games. So I have been trying to come up with a system of sorts to easily convey ideas about story and interactivity.

I like to think about my character designs from the basis of how things are actually constructed in the real world. That is why the program looked interesting to me.
Basically sew the clothes together as opposed to sculpting the clothes.
A lot of people use it in tandem with Zbrush for characters.

Expecting to find a type to be declared in a module rules named 'RiderLink' in UE4Rules, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null. This type must derive from the 'ModuleRules' type defined by Unreal Build Tool.

Houdini is being so under utilized right now. I've had barely any time to work with it but already see the protentional to do so much more with it working with UE.

Fallout New Vegas tended to like to branch too much and then just dead end branches.
As opposed to Fallout 1 or Fallout 2 which would have fewer options to any one choice, but have a more choices throughout a conversation.
They both sometimes fall into this kind of trap...
Where I would say ideally things should progress more along these lines.
This is what I would say Fallout 4 does.
So a Mood Call and Response is when the player has multiple things he or she can say. In the case of Fallout 4 it is always 4 things.
But these things don't change how the conversation moves forward.
The player says one of 4 things, the NPC says one of 4 things, then the conversation moves on to the same next point.
On the right, however we have a Mood Call with a Generic Response. This is probably even more common in Fallout 4 than the one before.

Neither of these two techniques are inherently bad, contrary to what the Fallout 4 haters would tell you.

So the general argument among the non-game dev fans of Fallout New Vegas that hate Fallout 4 is that Fallout 4 is somehow inferior because there are only 4 choices at any one time.
My argument is just the opposite. Limiting any one choice to less branches is good. Fallout 4 was just not creative with the way that they used it and they just kept repeating 'Mood' dialogue and not having actual branches in a lot of cases.
New Vegas certainly had more creative writing.
But the actual User Interface of New Vegas was weaker.
I very much like Fallout 4, Mr. Zomg. One of my favorite games ever. It certainly still has flaws with its writing, but that doesn't make it a bad game.

Anyways, I classify player characters into 1 of 4 different categories.
Create a Character
Predefined Role
Predefined Character
Linear Character
So a 'Create a Character' is going to be very rare in a story based game because the player is almost a complete blank slate.
A 'Predefined Role' is what Bethesda traditionally does with Fallout 3, Oblivion, Morrowinds. This is also what the player character in Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas is. Same with Knight of the Old Republic.
Basically a 'Predefined Role' means you can choose what kind of person you want to be, usually male or female, personality, race, skillset, personality. But you still must fit into the role that is given to you.
Then a 'Predefined Character' would be like Commander Sheppard from Mass Effect. You have a character who can have a little bit to a whole lot of a past and personality. The player doesn't get to build everything, but still gets to shape the actions of this person. You can make them be mean or nice or romance someone else or solve a problem in a different way.
Fallout 4 treads the line between a 'Predefined Role' and a "Predefined Character'. I would say Fallout 4's protagonist is a Predefined Character that is very close to being a Role.
This is the real problem area for people who were fans of the past Fallout games. They wanted a Predefined Role and ended up with a Predefined Character.
But fans are generally stupid and go on rants about the totally wrong thing...
My goal is to define simple vocabulary to make conversations about this topic easier.
So that if I later work with other writers I can easily communicate things.

So it is more like 900ce Industrial Revolution with a smaller population.
Because obviously the world had less people in 900ce than 1700ce.
But I also account for the fact that Rome's mastery of water such as hydraulic mining, aqueducts, and indoor plumbing were more advanced than anything in London before the end of the 1800s...
So this Industrial Revolution in my stories isn't as dirty and people aren't getting diseases from literally living in their own shit.
They actually take bathes and wash their togas. I made 'business togas' to replace business suits. Pants are considered poor people clothes.

I always felt like it was mostly as a result of the design process itself taking a while, like trying to think of what I want it to look like

challenge yourself to make a low poly scene in an hour and then do that regularly until you get results you like consistently then pack it down to 45 minutes and keep going down.
Yansculpts talks it up in a video but his reasoning as to why you should do it is wrong he said it got him a long way. He just kinda decided to just do timed sculpts outta nowhere without understanding how its pushing him forward.
i did it filling up a sketchbook and managed to get my head construction from 10 minutes to 1

YouTube's embedded player seems to check if it's visible - their terms technically require the player to be visible with the YT logo and all
so if you just wanna play music using the player you don't really need it to be visible... but if you hide it, it won't play
so you can use some of those methods in that picture to hide it without really hiding it lol

Tang Dynasty China from 618 - 907ce was certainly one of the most advanced civilizations the world had seen up until Industrial Revolution. They had a printing press over 500 years before Johannes Gutenberg for example. They were also the first to use gunpowder.

But then they chose to isolate themselves, and I think that the nature of needing over 3,000 characters for printing as opposed to a 26 letter alphabet made wide spread book printing much less likely for China.
