@zinc matrix One advice I can give you, is to start by making mods. That's where I started. Some mods were good and most were terrible. However, over time it allowed me to get noticed by other people which started to recruit me for their mods. Some of those mods worked out, but most didn't. The ones that did eventually lead to my career though.

Well this sucks. Right now the dungeon entrance/exits are just teleporters dropped in the middle of a room after most of the dungeon is generated. But I want to move them so they are entrances in the wall, like doors/stairwells

I use simple timers mostly and a portable ac/heater combo when needed. The vents mostly use pistons that have beeswax that melts when it gets too hot and opens the vents.
But to go the other way is really just a motorized piston and a temperature sensor.

I think I can redo my map generation entirely using Houdini to setup complete procedural generation from the landscape, to the material, rivers, trees, foliage, rocks etc...

That's really what you do for the most part. You use a grayscale to represent height data.

You start with a noise algorithm, usually perlin, and guide it a bit and then manipulate with things like simulated erroision, coasts, thermal weathering etc..
But then you start doing things based on what's been generated.

Unity makes their primary income off ads. That should say enough. Cryengine framework is used by amazons lumberyard in some way or another if I remember correctly (needs fact check) and unigine I’m not too Familiar with but I know it’s still used commercially for various things

The blue is VGA and the white is DVI.
You can get a DVI to VGA adapter like Mr. Ponkkis linked to or you can get a DVI to VGA cable which will do the same thing.

Huh, so funfact about UE4's Splines. Each spline point has an XYZ scale, but the X scale does nothing. When you scale the X axis with the gizmo it directly edits the tangents instead. Manually entering a value into the X axis scale changes nothing as far as I can tell.

It scales the tangents which are along the X axis. This is what you'd expect to happen, but I had figured it was done through multiplying the tangents with the scale. Instead it's just the tangents by themselves

Also, it bothers me how scale snapping works. moving it up one snap and down one snap isn't equal and it makes it impossible to stick to a grid or uniform values without using the details panel

assembling a new PC. I have a pcie 4.0 nvme m.2 ssd that is 2tb and regular sata ssd that is 1tb that is obviously slower. I can't decide which one should be the OS and which one should be my project directory drive. Pretty sure it's better to keep them separated, but I can't tell if having OS and builds on fastest drive will make a difference vs having projects and builds on fastest drive.

Well, the flavor of Gung Bao chicken is hard to explain if you haven't.
In Sichuan food there are two main words for spicy. One is for 'hot' spicy which is like you traditional chili peppers and such. The other is for 'numb' spicy that comes from Sichuan Peppercorns.
But there is a slight numbing effect to the spice, and the perfect Sichuan style food had a balance between the two spices. It is the one thing I miss the most when I go back to the United States and look for food.

Gong Bao chicken isn't a super spicy dish.
It just has a very unique spice compared to any other food I have had. But it is considered a very mild dish by Sichuan standards.
Sichuan has some very spicy foods, and Gong Bao chicken isn't one of them.

i've been thinking about how i approach releasing my game
initially the game was geared towards being released on mobile, a not generic puzzle game as the gameplay is unique and I believe the stores don't have something alike

so the idea is to launch it on mobile, good publishing will lead to virality and it will be one of those mobile games with ads and a paywall to get hints (you get rid of the ads and get infinite hints or something for a 2$ price or something)
however the more I work on it, the more I feel it "deserves" a "proper" release
as to give it a bit of a story, and make it something in the lines of Braid or World of Goo
the idea of giving it a story happened right when i finished the first level, it was atmospheric, full of clues of what happened and what is going to happened in the coming levels
so now i'm kind of in between

treat it as a regular money making mobile game, or make something more out of it and try to be something in the shadow of "greater" games

as I feel that to have a "proper" release for a game, none of those money making tactics would be included, put a fair price tag on it, and the player will play/enjoy it as much as they want, no extra or hidden charges

say what you will about the epic launcher, even though I usually launch UE with VS, I think the launcher, while maybe missing a few things like a way to organize purchased UE content, or have your friends chat window actually pop up when someone sends you a message, is still a pretty solid platform to have both your games and UE projects in one place

i work from 600pm to 11pm nightly on the game
7 days a week
as well as about 3-4 others on the team and the rest usually put in 20 or so hours a week
i took a vacation a year ago for 3 weeks in hawaii.
that was my first in 3 years
and ill take another one in about 2-3 years.
other than that, i play GW2 with my wife and daughter. lol
my kid has been playing since she was 3. 😂
my keyboard was color coded, so it kinda helped. 😉

i may get some use from armory engine but i also don't want to be only able to make games and 3d models. i want to better generalize my skills with programming to non-gaming stuff especially with file management (a workflow i consider important)
at the same time though only gaming and 3d modelling seem the most inspirational to me

well, programming is programming
it doesn't really matter if you learn it by doing games or something else
it'll take some time to get to grips with different types of things, but the basics of programming are the same regardless of environment and language used

golang is better suited for more general uses at the moment - i've only seen one game engine written in and for golang.
i like it because syntactically it looks tidier than python while not being too complicated as well
i'm just getting annoyed by having to learn to program in a certain way especially with regards to error handling (which i also don't completely understand too)

once you try enough languages and have enough experience you'll probably find something that you like the best
