If I am typing like I am now using full words and sentences and such, it never really matters if it is dark and I can't see my keyboard.

The Division hud always bugged me. They made it look 3D with skewed hud projection. But it moves. Like, if you want my eye to be somewhere, don't move it around. Same with the menu system in Destiny 2, which is utter trash, and moves with the mouse. So you aim for a spot, and its moving the entire hud, like some mini-game where you have to adjust for lag.

Basically, the map in my game is going to be mostly static. It is mostly like reading a physical paper map.
If you want to know where you or or even what direction you are facing, you have to use your compass or look around you.
The compass will pull up beside the map when you press the button, I wouldn't want to have the player waste time flipping between them.
That's the easy part, but the next part I need to prototype because I'm not sure how it would work out.
I want to give the player the ability to aim what is basically a laser pointer at anything in the game world, then press the button.
That item will then appear on the paper map that the player has, and you can type whatever name or note you want for that location.
So I am going to try some different methods of how to best make an 'icon' or 'picture' of each game world item on the paper map.
Going to try to make it look like it was hand drawn on there.
I'm thinking a terrain landmark like a mountain will end up being a lot harder, as there isn't a particular mesh that I can just reference.
So basically getting up to a higher location and seeing the game world from above will give you an advantage with the map and finding things.

Damn. I just went to my Youtube channel page and they turned off my monetization in favour of that new system that requires 1000 followers and 4000 hours of views. They let me monetize previously too. Not that I use it. But now I have to actually put content out to get a quid a month.
