Much of the writing that I do takes inspiration from real history. A lot of the time I avoid topics like war, because I just feel like battle has been way overdone.

But when I do write about war type stuff it is always about the arms race between two factions or things like how having a well organized supply chain to bring food to soldiers wins wars.

So the advantage of making rubber soled shoes is pretty huge, so each major faction wants to have a presence in the tropical area in order to 'politely insist' that the locals farm said trees.

I have many short stories that cover many character. The characters overlap into each others stories a lot. I have 2 characters that have a serial aspect to them, where they have a handful of stories that stand alone but slowly progress the characters.

The one character is a journalist, but his job is more like one of those guys on YouTube that reviews tech. The difference is he review Industrial Revolution era technology and writes about it useing a printing press.

The game I am working on is meant to be a really small story driven game that only lasts about 90 minutes.

The core mechanics are just simply investigating or interacting with objects and dialogue with other characters.

The story for my game is just a journalist who is trying to write a newspaper article. He travels to a town where a labor strike is in progress and tries to get to the bottom of the story.

In the end he ends up getting pulled into the personal problems of both sides of the labor strike and has to question his own rules of telling an impartial story.

I actually want to go local with my stuff, go to local video game and comic book and anime conventions, set up a booth, and sell my game for the cost of the usb drives I put them on (you can get them for about $3 each if you buy them in bulk from a company that will print your logo on them).

I want to do things from the grassroots level. Show the game to people face to face, let them know I am a real person who is just doing the best I can, create a real world connection and sell them a $3 piece of plastic with my game on it.

Let that spread if people like it. If they don't, I am happy to eat the losses I paid for the booth at said convention. My day job allows me to spend at least $1,000 on marketing my game in the next year, so I'll take that gamble.

At the time C++ had kinda hit a point of stagnation too, it wasnt until some time after Javascript the C++ guys got together and decided the language needed to get official updates

Even then from C++03 to C++11 was still a fairly long wait where Javascript kept chugging along with the support of the web

These things tend to evolve more organically through community since its a human system first and a machine language second

well it's different really, C++ that throws away backwards compatibility would cause coders to flee to other languages, but how can you not use Javascript for that it does? there is no other option existing in browsers 🙂

MS tried to make alternatives, Jscript was a thing and there is Typescript now but thats just a fancy name for stricter Javascript, I suppose there was ActionScript that caught on for alittle while but none have the same stick.

Do bad languages actually have that same stick? In terms of religion the older ones are the most prominent so it wouldnt be people just doing things the way theyve always been done. People could be swayed to believe in a system thats not as good I suppose as thats the argument against OOP but I just doubt Javascript has a following akin to zealots, Im willing to bet theres alot of high level programmers with their hands in the language.

If you have the game script, surely you already have all the dialog and scenes figured out so you can start doing both roughly in parallel 😛

You will need to have at least some test version of the dialogs to figure out timing if that's important to the scene

First you figure out all the scenes in the game, the exact dialog and rough pacing without recording any lines or animating anything - then you record lines and animate stuff
