I always use a reasoning model when Im doing deeper thought stuff, the llms on their own are kinda dumb
but even then the reasoning and research is still based on norms so if youre specifically looking for the outliers it can be difficult. If theres plenty of info on the topic in many different directions it works better
They def use rl with llms but Im not sure if it makes them any smarter, more agreeable yes but one thing I like about using AI is if Im wrong it tells me so. It means when I am right I can trust that feedback more
I feel like at some point we'll get AI that trains itself, it'll be able to go through the whole development loop and improve. It'll definitely be a combination of ML methods working in tandem not just one in particular
I had abit of a debate with the AI over how I saw Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as more of a moderate because the US are pretty behind on their progressive policies but it definitely proved me wrong. It could be that the data was there for it to put aside any assumptions, theres actually a website which tracks progressive votes with a percentage to adherence

Of course I run at 60fps in 1440p with no raytracing, and I have to go mid to high settings (depending on the game of course) with FSR and GSync picking up the slack, but for a 10 year old card I cannot complain. The wife hasn't had Gamepass since they raised the price. She's completely Jonesing for a game. So as we just got a little money yesterday I said "why not active the XGP for a month and hammer some games. I'll manage the kids in between".
So she looks up some games, reluctantly agrees because we can't really afford it right now.
Then we go see the price. Last price for XGP was £12.99. It went up to £22.99.
That is such a disgusting way to gouge the acquisition money for CoD from users who had paid into it for years, and in our case multiple Ultimate accounts.
Now she won't get her month activated because she says we would have to cut back to afford it and she doesn't think we can afford it.
First world problems I conceed, but damn I feel so bad for her and such anger at Microsoft for doing that.

After watching the new Avatar I can tell you that you dont want to chase photorealism, the CG in that movie is so good I cant even tell you where the billions of dollars went cuz it looks like it was filmed on a camera for the most part. The only reason I could tell some bits were fake was cuz of the odd choice of compositing a real human in some scenes
If you want people to appreciate all that hard work you should make it as uncanny valley as you can muster
Well the higher fidelity youre chasing the more those little issues are going to stand out so youre just making that final difficult 5% even harder for yourself
If your graphics are like REPO or Peak you can just release it and no one will even notice that youre not even close to the goal posts
but that goes for any serious art direction not just photorealism which could be why those whimsical silly games do so well, because people are already in a sort of light hearted mood and are willing to be more forgiving
Im abit of a graphics snob these days, I'll still play games with interesting art styles but Im not really into games which could run on a toaster but run poorly on a Ryzen 9

Ive experienced stuttering in all sorts of games, some of it is autosave, some of it is streaming in, it doesnt always relate directly to graphical fidelity but I feel like people are willing to give those cheaper art styles a pass because "oh they couldnt afford it" or "this game is cute" etc
Could you imagine if for example DICE did a mainline Battlefield game which looked like Overwatch or Valorant level of fidelity. Those games dont look bad but theyre not exactly pushing bounderies, in terms of optimisation though Overwatch and Valorant are up there so I forgive them alittle bit less on the graphics focus but we expect it all from a mainline Battlefield game, graphics, sound, optimisation, indoor maps, outdoor maps, vehicles etc
I couldnt get over how bad the animation system for Counter-Strike 2 is, it wasnt until I saw this video about the updates I even realised and the updates are no where near a sort of baseline we expect from an UE5 anim sample project
I mean if it were anyone else but Valve have been kind of ahead in the past in terms of animation so it caught me as odd but absolutely no one says anything about it, Valve barely cops any criticism. Theres clearly some favouritism "X is my favourite dev", "X would never use Unreal Engine" etc

I think theres more to it than just slapping LLMs into games, it could definitely be one component if used with speech synthesis but using that hardware in particular. We've seen optimized data structures for RT for example, that same hardware could optimise data structures for ML vision in games especially on the server side. Theres so many ways it can be used, we have these big LLM models but when you talk about games many of them can be simplified down to much smaller models. I think the biggest issue is that the acceleration is on the GPU end for many PCs so it'll be interesting to see if CPU gets the same so its not required to sync them up to pass data

General manager texted me Friday night and asked why he was told I wasn't showing up or calling out. Told him what happened and what was said Saturday, and he told me to just deal with her bs until he comes back and work Saturday and today. I went in on time yesterday and that same manager who insinuated that I was fired told me to leave because I was fired. Until I told her the GM told me to come in and work. She seemed pretty pissed when she called him to confirm it.
