I got the proxy servers working locally, not even sure about load balancing yet, I might not even need multiple game servers unless I want to connect regions
main thing about multiple servers is being able to transition, that way you can have disconnects but its not a hard kick
I remember playing some coop games, it was P2P and once the leader left it would spin up a new server on the next client and typically if host left number 2 would leave as well... but you couldnt be the only one left so if you ended up alone it was a hard kick but it was after trying to reconnect and fail. It was a mess

Heck, one of the soldier bugs (green chameleon aliens) came right up to me cloaked.
Scared me and made me empty my shotgun into it.
Had to reload pronto, 'cuz another bunch of bugs came over the horizon.
The whole encounter lasted something like ten minutes.
At that point I was like, "What the heck did I stumble upon?"
Thankfully, the situation became calm thereafter. I didn't stay there long though.
All this was on the vanilla game, no mods.
The PoI mod just flooded the planets with PoIs to go murder stuff in.

One cool thing I liked with the new survival conditions was getting smacked in the face by that radioactive something hailstorm.
No clue if it was just that one planet, or it's a random weather condition, but yeah....
The SFX was what made it really cool.

The capital ships are sweet toov and the space stations. I love that just mining you uncover lore at your own pace and it doesnt require all the back and forth. I like that its a more flexible RPG, that was one of the best bits of Cyberpunk 2077 too. You get rewarded for how you play with stats its doesnt feel like arbitrary barriers until you stack stats in and get perks

I got some fun out of it. The simulators were also good.
The FPS multiplayer combat sessions were quite nice.
Overall, I've just put it on the backburner until the campaign comes out.
If THAT sucks, then I'll consider it a waste.
Otherwise, it's been a decent $30 spent.
