Well for me theyre talking more about neural rendering than RT so am I to expect that RT hardware will get replaced with AI and then it'll just turn basic lighting into RT in the framegen stage? I just need to be able to plan but its tricky when the future roadmaps on the rendering end barely go a year in the future

One cool thing would be to hand off certain aspects of lighting to AI at first. Such as the basic light colour, direction, and things like that, and let the dev handle the more complicated aspects.

Iteratively, as the AI improves and bugs are fixed, more and more aspects of lighting could be fully automated.

It'll be interesting to see how it works out.

#

That being said, keeping it basic at the beginning is the best. Baby steps.

This is Quake running on CGA. Normally Quake requires VGA (320x200 256 colours), but WinQuake can actually run fine on any card supported by Windows 95.

Now, CGA doesn't support Windows 95. But turns out with a little manual hex editing, it can start with a CGA driver from Windows 3.0 (I believe no one succeeded in doing this before). And with Windows 95 kind of sort of running on CGA, @gloriouscow recommended to try if Quake would run. It does, and it is almost playable. Definitely more playable than Doom8088 on MDA.

the regular one or w/e is the one that makes your cpu boost when the system is idle for a few minutes

you can disable it but theres another task that re-enables it

yeah pretty sure its defender which was causing the boost clock to jump wildly all over

so I just lock it to 3.8ghz, its meant to boost single core to 4.2ghz

7800X3D here. So far, so good.

I've never seen any problems with my CPU and Win, but then again, it's not like I've pushed it to 100% and kept it there for any long term.

I was also blessed with my GPU. So far, it hasn't crashed EVEN ONCE with ComfyUI generating images. 🙂

PC was pretty stable but we had a brown out and it seemed to mess up after that, it does boot, I can get it into windows its just unstable so I dont think its hardware

I'll take the bios battery out, check thermal paste, check the chip all that good stuff

its air cooled so PHEW lol

Of course, I overdid the inverter slightly and now, my whole house has something like 15-18 hours of backup including the PC. 😄

IF I upgrade my GPU to a RTX 5 or RTX 6 in the future, that might be a different picture though.
