I've been happy with Chaos in all honesty. The flaws in PhysX became annoying to me eventually. The final straw was not being able to make 2-wheeled vehicles without writing a custom Physx class. Everything I found annoying with it was resolved in Chaos (eventually) and although you can moderate arguments between both in certain areas, I still think Chaos is the better and people would disagree.

so this question is for everyone/anyone who has ai move around their level(s), are nav meshes as problematic as I think or am I just missing something? no matter what I do they eventually get stuck walking in place near an object and I can never tell if it's user error in map design or the nav mesh just needs rebuilt/deleted and replaced again.. there's no way this feature is as inherently broken as it seems for me right?? please explain how to make it work "correctly" if this is not the case

the key is learn to use it. Most people just slap it down and presume it works because it kind of does. But take a look at what happened to Redfall when they had a completely incompetent noob use it for a triple A game. If you just learn the basics and how to use them properly it works. If you just slap one down and expect it to work you will get issues.

simulate a level where the enemies never get stuck in an hour of testing
start the level and play it, stuck in 5 seconds on a random wall/object

knowledge only goes so far when you correctly block everything off and secure the mesh within the bounds you want and enemies still break

not all issues are the navmesh specifically. It can be due to physics collision issues and frame based location updates without resolution for clipping.

I bet if I bought Borderlands I'd get 60fps on my 1080ti because I know it's limitations. People who buy a 5090 and run it at 240hz and expect full frames from a modern game are just lying to themselves because they bought an expensive card. Not saying there aren't issues (it has Denuvo for a start which is just cancer) but I see a lot of issues people have that are simply over-extending the tech. Should a 5090 run everything at 240hz? I'd love it to be true but it's not exactly feasible with some of the RTX/Lumen/etc tech we have in game now

I came from a Flash background (as it was my main skill at that time) so I was aware of how it worked properly. The good thing about Flash was it's vector graphics which were infinitely scalable. In the Scaleform environment you had to wrap objects in containers that scaled the content within them. You had one for a complete screen scale, then individual ones for elements that needed to scale with it properly. It's the same as using the UMG ScaleBox for example. We had no real anchor system though so you had to do the maths manually.
