My favourite Lovecraft based movie is an oldie (but a goldie) called From Beyond. The plot is decent, the execution was classic for an 80's movie and it's stuck with me for the last 40 years or so. I did have plans to outline a GDD game version of it but life got in the way. I do like the influence he has had on horror directors however. I also enjoyed Color out of space. That was really well done too.

I play the missions they unlock each week, they're always from a small selection of the game missions, always the same but I'm still finding new ways to do them. Mostly it's about level design though - I analyze things like the level layouts, and object reuse - and just walking/driving around is a great way to take a step back when thinking of programming problems etc.

it's kind of sad that they have those awesome 5 maps for the extraction, but no other play modes
the level design is top tho, beautiful environment
and cryengine doesn't have to hide, only thing that could look better are the characters imho, not sure how much limitation is there due to the engine and how much is on ubisoft
btw. did you play the DLCs? If so, which are worth a few bucks, there's currently a sale
the steam reviews are heavily biased towards ubisoft's pricing tho, so hard to tell which provide some good new content

Yeah, it could have been expanded more, there's mods etc but more modes would be good. It's a heavily modified engine for all the open world goodness - not intimate with it but I can imagine that a lot of it's about VRAM.
When I was first going through it I went out to one of the ships and it gave me a game over credits and music scene, I thought I'd finished it but it turned out to be a joke.
I haven't played any of the DLC, just sticking with the main content - maybe in another 1000 hours 😄
