the way i see it, with my idea, what will take me a week to do on the computer would take the average member here probably an hour.
oh man i went through a pretty deep dark night of the soul recently;
been 'struggling' with something on my ue project for weeks, makign a point to only use blueprints as I am simply too dumb for cpp.
so when i eventually finished what i wanted to, all that strugglign turned into that nice chuffed sense of accomplishment.
but then...
i went on unity for shtsngggls and used chatgpt to generate some csharp and just threw that in the game as a script component --- worked immediately.
The thing i struggled for weeks with in ue, was done in less than 5 minutes in unity.
so i reckoned, okay cpp must rally be great, but that led me down a path of discovering morbid truth after morbid truth. I just am too stupid to know or realise whats going on on the screen / read the code.
I did a tutorial from youtube like ten times over, but every time I need visual assist or ''just follow along and type the results'' - which never worked, breaking every project from the get-go.

Lots of these games just have thirst and hunger overlays to force you to grind, it has little to do with survival. You can run most places in The Forest for eg without food and water, it just lies to you making you think you need to. The second game focuses much less on that, its more about finding stuff in the world left nehind. I like the idea of a proper survivalist style game though not just the stock standard survival mechanics

I kill a rabbit, use the runes from it to buy an arrow, find a bow, go to mohg, kill bird with the 20 rune arrow, buy 662 more arrows.

Those bug bitches give x5 more runes than the bird does. I just have no way to mass extinct them yet. Last time I did this 3 years ago, it was giving like 80k or something with gold pickled foot +gold scarab

My map is glitched out, the map also constantly unloads and reloads, it looks so fucking horrible when enemies are 20 meters away and the framerates for them are 5 fps. Input reading and halfassed hitboxes.

Really fucking love trying to heal just to have a fireball in my face everytime I press the heal button.
Why give a boss input reading when the area is a god damn open area with no cover
I watched the same boss pivot its fucking arm off its joint just to hit me with its hammer all the way behind her
Also input delay, and being stun locked repeatedly because they cant keep something as simple as poise fucking consistent

Yeah, and mobs made it inside the boss arena, they arent even supposed to be able to go in. Their ai is supposed to make them intentionally back away from the boss arena

Did you notice the environmental art isn't using the shader style of the old ones anymore? When I saw the teaser I thought they had removed it entirely until I saw the characters. I wonder if they are phasing that style out. I mean, it looks decent at times, but it's not the reason I play the games.
