Used on the new Train remake in #cs2, these windows use the Transmissive Backface Ndotl feature in the Csgo_Complex shader. This allows lights to pass through the backfaces while also lighting up the glass mesh itself. Very neat trick!

I've been dying to get a decent rig and a full Houdini license so I can use the methods from the City Sample for my buildings. I could technically recreate it (albeit likely not as well) without Houdini and use PCG combined with other tools. But I feel it was so good what they did, why reinvent the wheel?

It's easier to learn than blender, I personally hate blender and this allows me to do both minecraft cubes and polymesh for any platform. Also supports pixel art and has hordes of tools. In 30 years it's the best software by the best dev I've ever used. Doing rigging and animations is dump simple since it's minecraft focused.

There are 2 things I wish minecraft had more of. Niagra style particles effects for stuff like deaths so I tried to add that. https://youtu.be/SjqORsd8_0E

combat systems for hand to hand/ weapon to hand.. so on. This app also has a partner app for particles.

Doing both minecraft and UE5 I often see stuff in ue5 and think I could do that in minecraft too. So I took the combat and split entity system and set it up in bedrock. https://youtu.be/3tFSvfEGVZg

If you struggle with blender, blockbench is a nice option.

Well when you do the trifecta of Bedrock, HD, Polymesh and Ai you get it from all of them. Few weeks have gone by in 5 years I didn't wake up to horrible comments. It's gotten better as I call people out. It was 4-5 a day. Now it's 3-5 a month. So getting better. The Hate for Ai has reempowered many of them though

I've been collecting store assets for decades since they starting giving them aways free and bought many. So I'd assumed I'd get hate for using those but not a single comment about it. It's amazing how respectful people have been and this discord is double the size of the one I just left for bedrock.

you'll only really catch flack if you're using tonnes of them as is, without adding much content. A lot of the greatest games use marketplace assets.
As long as you aren't looking like an asset flip, and the things work together and don't clash, then it's a-ok that's what they're there for.

A quite common one i see is tweaking materials and textures because everyone has their own subtle style differences :P

Or, getting to a point where those assets are phased out if the game is successful, like Phasmaphobia did when they were able to take on a full time artist
