System 1 is automatic, something you aren't aware of, doesn't involve active planning, it's instinctive, it's what we depend on for most of our actions
System 2 is the deliberate reasoning process, it's slower and allows you to plan and break problems into steps, basically used for any demanding cognitive tasks and it's slow

LLMs do actually show quite a lot of system 1 reasoning, but 0 system 2 reasoning

the eye tracking was decent. I tend to look at people's mouth when I listen so I can lip read and make sure I don't mis-hear anything so any kind of 3d person, no matter how realistic the mesh or materials, has to have crazy accuracy on the capture points of the mouth and at the right scale for the mouth to match. So getting as close to 1:1 scaling is key there. This video doesn't show the mouth so I'm not criticizing it at all. Just the fact it never had much mouth movement had me focus on the eyes instead.

I'd love to see something more realistic than point capture. It seems outdated when we can fully scan a face as a mesh in real time and match it to the in-engine mesh. Nobody has come close to the quality of facial capture which they achieved on L.A. Noire in my mind. The mesh graphics have gotten way better, lighting, grooms, shaders etc. But the technical facial mapping on that game was light years ahead of it's time, and it's time we stepped it up past the minimal optimised tracking points.

Sorry for the delay, my dad came over but yeah. I'm comfortable being open about where I worked since I don't work there now but I've worked on the mobile team at NetherRealm Studios for the last 2 years with 1 shipped game there, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught. And this morning, it was decided WB was no longer supporting the development of NRS mobile games and that some of us were not going to have a job going forward.

Then 30 minutes after that, I found out that I was one of the unfortunates to be laid off when they deactivated my slack account. Then about 7 hours later they had a meeting with me to confirm I was indeed being laid off and give me the details of my severance.

This is also NetherRealm's first time ever doing a lay off in the 14 years they've been around
