I has a question... So I'm making a kindof dungeon crawler, procedurally generated maps, random loot drops with rarity and possibly modifiers. sorta thinking about it having some rogue-like aspects to it... But I'm having trouble deciding on the control/UI system. Currently, you have a primary weapon you equip in the equipment/character screen, and then a hotbar of 4 slots that you would equip abilities or consumables, that you select first then right mouse button to use. Left mouse uses the primary weapon. But it doesnt feel right when I play it, right now I've only got a gun as a weapon but want to add melee (have a hard time making the anims for that)
Wondering if I should switch to having all weapons/abilities etc on the hotbar, so you can switch during play, and then left mouse does primary attack, and having a secondary attack or a block with the right mouse (on applicable items)
or something else?
with a gun, and I run out of ammo I'd have to go into inventory screen and swap weapons there. Tho if I go melee, there'd be no ammo so I wouldnt have to worry about running out, and then the hotbar could be just an activation thing hitting the number keys

as in: pressing 1,2,3,4 activates a selection mode (meaning preview AoE, vector targeting, etc) left click triggers the ability / item / consumable
or 1,2,3,4 quick cast on key down: activate ability when key is down without having to left click
or quick cast on key up: enter selection mode, activate ability when key is released
personally I really like quick cast on key up, feels like it's best of both worlds: you get to correct your aim a bit but it feels faster than having to left click to confirm

- Assuming you have four skills to choose from, assign them to Q, E, Z, and C, the four keys diagonally situated from W, S, A, and D.
- As you require, you can choose the skill and unleash it with the right-mouse button.
It might feel more natural this way.

With some macro magic I have my LLM functions auto register with rest of my systems that dumps them into the LLM context, together with the calling conventions and at generation time the communication with the LLM is ran in a feedback loop until the LLMs stop chaining the function calls to get the answer it needs
then comes actual response generation

LLMs are by design perfectly deterministic (if you use the temperature of 0 or equivalent for top_k, but the actual model inference is deterministic)
ChatGPT and other consumer LLMs use semi random sampling, which means the output logits (the actual raw values from the model) are divided by the temperature, so lower temperature bumps the already most probable tokens which spikes their probability and lowers everything else when passed through softmax
Higher values than 1 flatten out the probability distribution so lower probability tokens have a higher chance of being picked, this is used to make conversations more diverse
In the final stage the token is then selected with a weighted random, so if you use temperature (or top_k) it is random between the most probable tokens
If you instead use 0 as the temperature this will switch to greedy sampling which just takes the most probable token and this is 100% deterministic
There are also sampling mechanism like beam search, which runs multiple sampled sequences in parallel and selects the one with highest "confidence"
As much as people wanna disagree it's a fact that LLMs do have primitive reasoning capabilities
this semi random sampling really doesn't matter that much when it comes to that because it's a random sample among the most probable tokens, not a random sample out of the entire vocabulary
