Build system is functioning more or less correctly. The save system absolutely isn't but ill whack that mole when i find it. Right now I'm trying to distract myself by working on the scenery but that's rapidly coming to a workable state too. Next steps would be to create models using build system, export the meshes as obj (cause the save isn't working, other wise id just save the damn things at runtime), and set up some infrastructure. The ship thrust mechanics are working perfectly, the ai works as well which is important cause the player is not necessarily need to pilot their ship (there is a crew system in the game, already working at a passable level).
Then the next step would be coding in GAS properly (i did a half assed job and left it there in like November 2023). Then i can start doing the itemization required for everything that's not the engines to function. After that it runs into the "i haven't thought this part out in detail yet" territory

actually my problem is relatively simple. i am converting meshes to binary and saving to disk. After load of the json, it parses the thing and tries to use the build system to just remake the steps the player used to make the ship
The problem is, it randomly decides to switch the meshes its supposed to use for the different blocks. for example, one wall would turn into a sphere on one load and back into the proper wall mesh after another load.
