Is this coincidence that I played 2 games created with unreal engine and they use a lot of GPU 70% of my gpu in task manager in menu with no gameplay whatsoever (Level Zero Extraction and Renown)? okay so im using a method to click and drag the camera and thus control the scale of the block. what i am doing is, there is a drag threshold of X pixels, once this specific number of pixels is reached by dragging, the system will increase the scale of the block in the proper axis by 1. now to calculate the proper axis, in taking the dot product of all the 3 basis vectors of the block and then finding the smallest value. that should give the vector that is most closest to the direction of travel of the camera, right?

yes but that 1) locks me to two axes scaling only and 2) does not let me determine which axis the user actually wants to scale. itll just do it for whichever axis happens to be aligned with the direction of travel. you can see what i mean in the second part of the video i posted

i tried freezing the camera, when using the system repeatedly it felt disorienting and like i was fighting the game to make what i wanted. i tried gizmos but they were, idk if this makes sense but "flow breaking". like once you were placing dozens of blocks to decorate the ship and the size needs to be constantly changed, it was annoying to have to go use the gizmos.
i will be trying the plane solution dieter gave in the evening, hopefully thatll fix it

Not gonna lie, you can setup animations just as good, if not better in some cases, than this Motion Matching but it takes forever. Having this as a base and then fixing what issues you need with a pose blend is still much quicker even though a trained eye could see where it "seams" the animations. Gamers will never know.
I bet ALS still gets a few years of usage over this by those who are used to it's subsystems
