Embedding models are specifically trained to capture the semantic meaning of the input
Like you could have 2 sentences using completely different words but talking about the same thing and the embedding model would generate vectors that when ran through a dot product (or cosine similarity) you would get a result indicating the 2 vectors are pointing in the same direction (or close to), which means the 2 sentences are semantically similar
You can have embedding models for text, audio, video, etc... anything you trained a model for
LLM can be used as an embedding model too if you don't use the final sampled result but directly the vector from the last decoder layer before sampling
But LLMs are overkill for this task
So whatever it's recording it's running it through the local embedding models and storing the results in a vectordb
So when you take user input you also embed it and use that vector to compare it against other stored vectors/semantic search

a full-fledged, 3D printed house is basically 35% cheaper than normal construction methods.
Mainly because you don't have to pay as much in wages.
