Digital Extremes was my goto until relatively recent because I love what they've been doing with Warframe and the free-to-play space over the last decade. And Warframe just seems like a really interesting game to work on with all the different systems.

However, I disagree with a lot of their design decisions as of late and I don't think I'd enjoy working as an engineer, implementing changes that make a game I use to enjoy playing, less enjoyable.

So currently, I don't know tbh. I would like to go indie full-time at some point.

They have been watering down/simplifying the game over the last year or so and I'm not a fan. They are making a major change soon that I strongly dislike, at least the idea of. The game has 13 health types, 2 armor types, and 2 shield types for enemies. Which is great because there are 13 different damage types in the game so it's a good bit of mix-matching of damage types to defense types. But in the next update, they are condensing all those defense types into just 3: Health, Armor, Shield. Which means damage-wise, we have 13 damage types but it's just a matter of "Which one has the greater multiplier against this enemy type."

Take this damage chart for Grineer. Like all this is going to be irrelevant because it's just going to be two columns - Health and Armor. And because of Armor scaling, it's going to be a case of "which damage type has the bigger multiplier for Armor" when you go against Grineer.

That's what I did. Never could grind enough to maximize everything and at higher level threats had to rely on puncture or later corrosion for all my damage to grineer. Radiation was the choice for corpus. Otherwise the armor system would reduce your damage by half and more. (And it was much harsher in the early years; puncture or nothing.)

does it really feel lonely to becoming a game dev? im in college and our course has two different tracks one is animation and one is game dev, most of my classmates chosed animation and only a handful chose game dev and none of them pass the vibe im looking for... almost all of them are kinda slow (inlcuding those who chosed animation) when it comes to learning and my college doesnt help that much either..

i started learning on my own when i realized that my course doesnt have much industry level professors..
and upon learning on my own, i became way efficient but my time was now invested in learning and implemeting them in my test games instead of doing my school works.. i only ever focus whenever theres a big project that i know worthwhile.. ive tackled most of the fundamentals of visual art, sound/music, animation, story writing to programming..

i feel so ahead yet so behind, the only thing on my mind is to improve and i will not wait for anything... but as i go further and further i am beginning to despise my college and my classmates bit by bit... my ego to workhard is bleeding in my interactions with my classmates ridiculing college and my classmates for following school and instead telling them to learn it themselves to become more efficient and so im not alone learning outside college(i had been acting out of my loneliness i realized),
i realized no one has the same mindset as me to grind and to go beyond what is expected.. i have no problem with my college, i only want to excel in a harder yet effective way.. but then again i feel lonely, does it really have to be this way?

With all that being said, there's nothing wrong with wanting to go further. That will, however, nearly always be a solo endeavour. You'll find a lot of classmates just want their degree, and don't have a vested interest.

You can try to reach out to people online, or visit clubs around said thing, but again, you need to change those bad habits first.
