a really dumb hack that I found out about when trying to get two separate shadow cascades out of Unity haha
You need to have some forced DoF and motion blur for it to legitimately be seamless though
and then you actually just stitch together two render passes, they can even share the same zbuffer, but you lose one of the benefits doing that
and literally render everything beyond a certain distance at the reduced framerate, one prerendered delay to sample interpolation
and voila, with the motion blur and dof its rendered at a lower framerate and you will never notice (because of the additional blur from interpolating the background render)

no, it failed and restarted multiple times. first time it got to 50% after 8 hours and got corrupted. second time was 14 hours and failed at the step where you have to edit the source code in two different files. third one failed at clangrtfm. and so on. finally managed to get it to compile about 20 min ago
the first time it failed, i had to use rebuild
