what's your game about?
Okay so the game is basically set in proxima centauri, its the first star system other than Sol that's being colonised by humans. The game happens literally 20 years after the effort started. Anyway, you play as a scrapyard salvager (yes i was "inspired" by hardspace shipbreakers) who was part of the first generation born in proxima centauri (people arrived on a generational ship). At the game start you and your best friend (npc companion but more mechanics™) pool together money to buy a derelict. The gameplay revolves around building up this derelict into your dream ship. The building happens with "blocks" that you snap together kinda like lego. And you gotta make sure it's actually air tight and will remain air tight cause combat can and will depressurise interior. So it's basically about building up things, making sure you place them in the right places, and follow the story (which is NOT heroes journey until The Event™)

Uh, starfield wouldn't be the game id like to be compared to but kinda? Its more focused on the space part though, most of the walking happens inside your own ship and the rest on space stations. There are no planets to land on (by design)

Its a whole solar system, modeled off of my best understanding of the proxima centauri system. You are free to travel all over the system. The POI are in space, asteroid rings, gas giants, rocky planets etc. There's just no planets to land on, there are planets though

they used to be the cool studio, anything they made was quality and it came out when it was done. they had a studio band which played heavy metal and they put their songs in the game because they were cool like that. starcraft defined its genre and arguably single handedly created esports. wc3 and its map editor were so easy to use, 10 year old me could make fun maps to play with friends on LAN. the map editor was used to make DotA which then was copied by league of legends, you might have heard of it.

No, so how it worked was, the more players that would join the game, the slower the server ran. This was by design, it was called time dilation. At the scales of this particular battle, every subsequent shot from a rapid fire gun on one ship would take an hour or so to recharge. So people just logged on, checked back from time to time to follow the fleet commander's orders. The fleet commanders were the try hards who would constantly scream in your ears about how all of us were worthless because player #3456 deployed his hanger crafts 0.1s too late

I've never played eve unfortunately but I've had similar experiences with The Settlers which was this medieval browser game I played in the early 2000s. I was in one of the larger tribes and we had a never ending fight with another large tribe, people were constantly in teamspeak and planning troop movements and attack etc. there were spies who would infiltrate smaller tribes the large ones had alliances with to try and find out information about where the next attack would be. very fun times 🙂
