also the non joke answer to this is, i want the player to be able to see outside the ship even if they have no windows or canopy. like imagine a bunch of screens that shows you the outside via different cameras placed on the hull. i did this using render targets but its really costing me a lot of fps. its not playable at all, im at the point where i am wondering if i need to scrap the idea

also close your eyes and keep an empty mind while doing this
