augh. my bitmasking for my walls is not working. just switching to the existing 8dir bitmask makes every outside corner the same number. if I get rid of a check it does so that each corner will be different, then I get 3+ values for the same pieces.

the walls in my map up to this point use a tile bitmask to determine what type of mesh it is to place, like if its a straight wall facing north, or an outside corner facing west. the bitmask op I've been using only checks the 4 cardinal directions, and so it doesnt have a tile for the outside corner. Trying to make it use an 8 direction check, but nothing I'm getting is very good results

so there's two benefits to leading the tech slots. One is if you lead, you get a big bonus to chance of unlocking engineering projects. and second is, you can guide the world to where you want them to go, usually aligned with your war goal. so as initiative you'd probably want the best space economy where as the servants would want humanity to waste time researching nonsense so that they can make it easier for the aliens
