What if the fastest way to learn game dev (or anything exist), is try to avoid as much low level stuff that you don't necessary need to learn to make the final product. Then you got the final product, which gonna make some money, hopefully millions. Then, you use the money to hire a smarter guy than you, that know the low level stuff, and let him teach you. Because essentially, when we are learning anything, we all learned from a source, even it’s a really hand-holding source like an Udemy series or a very self-learning source like cplusplus.com. Being rich and have someone teach you is just simply giving yourself better sources to learn anything ever, and it's way faster. Imagine having a guy that know all the unreal engine source code, and you can request him to wrote a custom document about any topic for you at any time, 100% percent that would be faster than all the other learning method.
It could become a problem of getting used to learn from someone else, going the easy way in life. But in life, once you tried the hard way, even you try the easy way for a really long time, you can still come back to the hard way anytime.
