Do you think epic should stop at giving free games to compete with steam? I think its costing the company a lot. I would rather have the resources for that go to more on R and D for unreal engine and other stuff which I think they have more control and would leverage them as a company.

Yeah we probably do not know how much profit they are getting for driving some gamers to their store, im sure children or those we dont have stable income. But personally for games even if i pay, I want to play it on steam due to friends and achievements are more or less steam for me, at least in my country.

Got a question for programmers here who've worked on small or medium size projects with multiple other programmers : how often did one or more programmers have to wait for someone else's work to be able to do any of their tasks and were left with nothing to do in the meantime?
And was that ever a real problem? I'm on my final year student project and I'm the lead programmer, but the other 2 programmers can't really do anything until I set up the project with perforce etc + implement some core systems because they're not as familiar with Unreal.
And even after all that, once most of the core systems will be implemented (which will be pretty fast since they've already been prototyped twice) most of the remaining work will be tweaking variables and maybe some code occasionally for game designers
I've been in a position on a previous project of having to wait a pretty long time for other peoples in order to be able to do anything and being genuinely bored to tear and I really don't want that to happen to anyone else hence why I'm worried

There's probably a few thing where pair programming could work but also I can't understate the Unreal skill gap between me and the other 2 devs
I've been doing stuff on and off Unreal for 2-3 years, this is pretty much their first time doing anything meaningful with it

as someone who started getting into UE in a serious way somewhat recently as part of a team, pair programming has been very nice with another member who had a similar experience level as myself. If there's a large skill gap it becomes more of a teaching session and less immediately productive I guess

They are not really noise cancelling, like real reduce the sound to a lower dB.
They have a really noticable sound effect if you just turned them on without any music.

I've decided to continue my old save so I could jump straight into the dlc, might do another run later
So far the story and gameplay in the dlc is amazing, a solid 9-10/10 (what reviewers have been giving it as well)
The game is a lot more polished, the worst bug I have encountered so far is a floating bottle lol
Car chases and police are a lot more fun to mess around with now
The game runs quite a bit better, I don't think I even had any frame drops
It is abusing the CPU a lot more, noticed because it runs hotter lol
I had 1 crash when I first launched the DLC, since then nothing
They've done something to the crowd and traffic as well, feels more diverse and "realistic" too
And if you have the hardware to play at max possible settings with pathtracing it's 100% worth it, I've been playing with it enabled and it looks so good
Overall feel like anyone who hasn't properly played it yet should, it's the perfect time to play it now

im gonna be honest i didnt like the story too much 😅 it felt like one of those (we need to do what need to do, son. and save 'merica) kinda movies. and reeds has a shit ton of old friends that has unfinished business with. also they really wanted to make V look like the lesser character when myers was around, which would be fine if i just started the game with nothing but i was pretty much maxed out and everytime after a cutscene establishes that im a little week loser and myers is a badass woman i take over and i completely obliterate the room with melee alone lol
that last "complaint" could be just me tho, i usually love when story overlaps gameplay but some people disagree with that and ig i see their point
oh and enemies are a whole lot more spongy it feels but it didnt really matter to me once i started throwing dead people at living people lol
