its way more complicated. You need to create zones to check for pixels and recreate them in place as zoned items, then make sure the materials get recreated properly too. Im sure theres two dozen other pitfalls to get around. But I think it could be done.

I thought perhaps something that creates a voxel grid over the map to encompass it, then stepping through each co-ordinate and mapping all contained pixels to recreate it (including landscape and any meshes in that co-ord) with proc gen tools. Then do a pass which isolates material data and recreates it as a separate material/texture for uv mapping onto the proc gen mesh. Sounds like it would be possible but without doing it I dunno

voxels are just volumetric pixels.

voxel plugin is very much voxels, as is minecraft, as is subnautica terrian. One of the telltale signs is overhangs, and runtime deformation

if ti checks those two boxes you're probably looking at voxel terrain

So when I equip something like my gun, its creating a new instance of the gun each time I select that slot. I would probably have an FInstancedStruct stored in the slot that can keep information about the item, weapons can have a derived version of this that it can store ammo in

When you select the weapon this struct gets passed to the item to initialize it, the weapon casts it to the correct type and read the ammo count from it

I added a variable to store the ammo count in the struct. But having trouble figuring out how and where to be setting it in the inventory from the weapon
