I always get confused as to why people want scripting languages for Unreal. We have C++ API which is a scripting language really considering it's limitations within the ecosystem. And we used to have UnrealScript which showed we don't need it when you have C++.

AngleScript has global vars and functions, rather than having to mess around extending specific library classes you can just go for it. Thats my main problem with C++, being unmanaged it requires alot of hand holding during the compilation process and spits difficult to understand errors. Scripting languages remove much of that, not to mention its JIT so it hotreloads reasonably stable

but do you code with Best Practice? Because if you do, you are already using a framework, one of best practice coding methods. Lyra is doing just that. Encapsulating the developer in a best practice situation. It's a framework that is entirely open. The core files are the only requirement to setup a few things and you can change those too if you wanted.

Here is a short tale. I once made a plugin. What I was doing hadn't been done before. In order to get it done I had to hack around some systems in the engine, including storing my own database for reflection, etc. I never used any kind of best practice here. I just hacked what I could until it worked. And it did. But the code was fkin shite. I took a look at how Epic did things, realised I could have done it their way and saved weeks, and since than I try not to go rogue and start thinking I know what I am doing. I only know because Epic tell me what to know.

I always just go for SM_Meshname and let folders do categorising, as that's what they're made for :P
