Well, I have a fairly long history with Godot. 6+ years. I've done tutorials, contract work, and am an engine contributor. I've built tools, games for mobile and PC. I was doing 3D in Godot long before there were even any resources for 3D in Godot.
Godot's 3D has massive damn problems in many areas that much of the community just doesn't see. Be it from being too green or not really working on a game that is bigger than what would be considered a prototype by professional devs.

Going back and reading this, I thought you were making a joke, but you might actually be wondering. Uhh, no, it's not a tree. It's literally like the state machine part of an anim BP. Can't do some of the fancier stuff though, like caching a pose for example. The AnimationTree is just the name of the node.

AnimationPlayer - this is where all the simple animation stuff would be and pretty much your database for animations.
AnimationTree - this is where you do the more complicated stuff, like blends, state machines, additive, etc... - it needs to be pointed to the AnimationPlayer to actually use the animations though.

I honestly have never used a single IDE or code editor though, I always have multiple installed so its easier to section different languages and/or projects
